Nick & Stef's is a Contemporary Steakhouse featuring a spacious patio and bar with happy hour daily. Voted Best Steakhouse in Downtown LA, Nick & Stef's delivers a signature style to the classic steakhouse fare, offering signature dry-aged beef, seafood, poultry and pasta specialties plus several vegetable dishes for vegetarian options.
"When dining at Nick & Stef's, I typically have my favorite dish - i.e., baked skillet chicken with a side of sauteed spinach. However, due to time constraints (i.e, the skillet chicken has a 20 min prep time), I opted for a caesar salad with salmon. Truly a delicious choice - meeting the challenge of my shorten timeline and a dish comparable in taste and quality to my standing favorite. Highly Recommended!"

"We had chosen this Patina restaurant based on our previous meal at the bar during happy hour. Being die hard Patina group fans we looked forward to our meal. My husbands prime rib was the worse ever in our years of fine dining. It tasted like boiled beef served with a tasteless sauce. The meal was a huge disappointment. The chefs need to take lessons from Catal and the Ranch (Anaheim) on how to prepare a prime rib. The food was unremarkable unlike the rest of the patina group restaurants. Huge disappointment."

"Disappointed that petit filet mignon was tough and fatty! Had a better meal at NYC Nick and Stef's. Desserts - choice was limited. Not at the standard expected of fine dining restaurant!"

"Liked the space well enough. I guess my biggest beff is with the fact that they use corn-fed beef. It's fatty, and thus more flavor-full. And, American palettes are used to it because every burger, most likely, is also corn-fed beef. Meaning that it's fed by genetically modified Monsanto corn. I only purchase grass-fed beef, and love the pure, lean taste. That's the way beef should taste, because that is their natural food - their stomachs aren't designed to digest anything else but grass. So, eating soft, fatty, un-natural beef doesn't appeal to me - that is why I don't stop at fast-food joints for burgers. I think hi-end Steak houses should have a responsibility to serve a true expression of beef .. no matter how well aged.."

"The service was great. The waiter was very knowledgeable. I had the 40 Day aged steak. Not as good as I thought it would be. The filet was pepper crusted and was very good."

"Pretty expensive, but really good food. We were going to the theater, so we had to hurry a bit. That's unfortunate because this is a place where you ought to take a little time. You ought to spend about 2 hours minimum with dinner.
For theater goers they have a really good shuttle service. That was a very happy surprise.
If you haven't been there before, call ahead. Because if you're driving up and down Hope St. you won't see any signs for Nick and Stef. The restaurant is tucked inside some big snazzy bank building."

"Nick & Stef's is a really pleasant dining experience. It is possible to talk to the others at your table without having to shout and the tables are far enough apart that you are not inadvertently part of a larger group. The crab cake was the best that I have had in Los Angeles. (I grew up with Maryland Crab Cakes.)"

"Really wonderful steakhouse - one of the best in Los Angeles. Clean, contemporary environment with great service. The steaks are a hearty serving - not too small, not too big - and the sides serve maybe 3 people each. Everything was excellent, including the service. We would definitely return.
The menu is ala carte, and expect to pay around $100 per person, perhaps a little more depending on your alcohol consumption (we had 5 people in our party and the bill was $500, but with tip we paid $625 total).
This restaurant is downtown LA. If you've never been there, give yourself a few extra minutes, even with GPS it can be tricky to find."

"Great food convenient to downtown LA hotels. Walk to the Music Center in just a few minutes. For a meat lover the food cannot be beat and the salads and vegetables are beautifully prepared and served. Altogether a treat!"

"The food was excellent, but the service was impeccable. Dining with clients is a challenge because you're trying to focus on the conversation, but at the same time need to faciliate the eating process. Our server was gracious, discreet and prompt. A great business meeting place (although a bit loud)."

"Very disappointing showing from the Patina Group... Had guests in town looking for a great steak house, I had never tried it before, and relied on the Patina Group standard of quality. It was a mistake, been to many better steakhouse, would absolutely not recommend this place in the future. Food was dry and bland."

"The food/service was good, but I definitely felt out of my element. Everyone in there was wearing a suit and in their 40s - 50s. My party stuck out like a sore thumb! Also, wasn't crazy about being seated in a corner. Don't think we'll be visiting again."

"Our server Jon; was truly a delight! He IS... The Grand Master of Fine Culinary Service! He was able to intuitively sense what was needed to be done and how to stay in and out of the way of the flow of the dining experience. His charm and great dry wit was well timed and laughter to our lovely evening. Although he was thrown off a bit by my "Desert 1st" request... He brought out the to die for bread pudding as our appetizer and well recovered his stride and had us laughing at the end of our "out of order" meal.
The Steaks were in a word... sublime! The service... was superb! The vibe was... elemental! Simply the best meal and dining experience that I've head this year!

"Nice decor, prompt seating. Service was attentive and well paced. Food was only so-so. My medium rare NY Strip was tougher and gristlier than I would have expected from a high end steak house, particularly in one that highlights it's dry aging room. Sides and desserts were good, wine list is extensive but pricey."

"For the cost of dining I did not find this restaurant to be worth it. My salmon was barely cooked, barely seared. Good thing I like sushi. The Caesar salad was not that great either. However, I will say the steak was pretty good, as was the pop-overs. There wine list was impressive."

"This was my third time at Nick & Stef's, and I was a bit disappointed this time, probably from having high expectations for this Patina group restaurant. My friend got the dry aged T- bone (their speciality) and wished that he had gotten the Filet Mignon that I ordered. Waiter was fine, but, for the price, the experience was nothing special."

"Awesome steaks (ribeyes),great tableside Cesar Salad, good appetizers, and the waiter was awesome. He was very attentive and guided us through our dining experience. We even told him we wanted to take our time and enjoy a couple of glasses of wine and enjoy our appetizers before serving and he paced us perfectly. I was definitely impressed."

"Not for dining before theater. We had an 8pm curtain at the Ahmandsen, and made a 630pm reservation. We arrived exactly on time (rare occurrence). We told both the hostress and the waiter right away that we needed to be out by 745 for an 8pm curtain. Notwithstanding, our waiter was slow taking orders and we got our appetizers at 7:10. At 705, I went and found the maitre d' and complained, asking that they hurry up so we can eat without rushing. His response was -- to me -- a fatal indictment of this restaurant: "we're very busy serving over 200 plates." That's a terrible excuse. They should have taken the reservation and should have told Open Table, NO MORE. We were rushed, and the restaurant was thoroughly unappologetic."

"This place is my go-to when I am going to a concert, play, or opera downtown. The food is consistently good and the wine list typically has some good deals. The staff turnover recently has been a problem, so service is hit and miss."

"The waitress seemed confused, it took a little longer than expected for a lunch. The location is part of a corporate building and they should strive to get people out within the hour at least during lunch time. The most frustrating part of the meal was dessert. We had selected dine in la menu which comes with dessert. After the meal the waitress came and asked if we wanted to order dessert which we had previous order at the beginning of our mean. She apologized for forgetting and brought out the ice cream mine had a piece of plastic in it. I thought it was part of the ice cream at first and almost bit into it really hard. Honestly, i could have broken my tooth. They manager came over and asked if he can replace it and at that point I had lo"

"My boyfriend and I went to Nick & Stef's during their lunch hour the week of dineLa. We both had the Grilled Hanger Steak. I am not much of a steak person, but this dish was delishes. It was cooked to perfection...tender and moist. We are going back for Super Bowl Sunday :)"

"This was our first time dining at Nick & Stef's Steakhouse and what a pleasure it was! We chose our entrees from the LA Dine menu (two sirloins and a salmon, all perfectly prepared). In fact, everything was wonderful -- soup, salad, the delicious Yorkshire Puddings, hot out of the oven, and the desserts. The room where we were seated was comfortable and the service was prompt and courteous. Finally, we had theater tickets that evening and so we availed ourselves of their free shuttle service to the Music Center."

"Tried it during Dine LA and was highly optimistic because I love the Patina restaurants. The sirloin was very good, but not a great steak, a little too over-seasoned. The mashed potatoes, cauliflower soup, and bread pudding were all excellent. Also, had a blackberry mojito and it was really good. Nice atmosphere inside and good service. Seems like they have a lively bar for happy hour, but walls block the noise so the dining area was pretty quiet."
