The Grill on the Alley Westlake is located at The Promenade at Westlake, a Mediterranean-styled outdoor shopping and entertainment center featuring some of the most well respected merchants in the world, including Sur La Table, Barnes & Noble, m. Frederic, Restoration Hardware and Bristol Farms. Curbside take-out service is available.The Grill on the Alley was opened in 1984 as a living tribute to the great American grills of yesterday. In time, it has established itself as one of the country's leading restaurants, praised by writers across the country. The menu is classic American grill - prime steaks, fresh seafood, traditional dishes such as chicken pot pie or meatloaf and mashed potatoes, and homemade desserts. Named to The Fine Dining Hall of Fame by Nation's Restaurant News, The Grill is home of the entertainment industry's "power lunch," but is also open for dinner seven days a week.

"This place was fine. I wasn't wowed by the cocktails or the food. Service was friendly but slow even though it wasn't get busy. It took more than 3 hours - party of 4, salad, dinner, dessert. No appetizers. Cappuccino machine was broken so no whipped milk in any after dinner coffees (no caffe latte, etc.). Brick chicken was ok, a little dry. Shrimp cocktail was delicious!"

"My party had an 8:45 reservation for 7. We stood at the front for 10 minutes and were never greeted by anyone. A large man who was employed by the restaurant was engaged in conversation at the podium with a party of individuals who had no reservation. One of them stepped on my foot in her hurry to get to the front of the podium. Several employees walked up to the podium and observed my party waiting and did not greet us, ask how are you, or can I help you. We left and went to Napa Tavern where we were treated well and the food was outstanding. What makes this experience so especially disappointing is several employees noticed us, but did not have any interest in assisting us. One of my daughters wondered if it was because we were women."

"The Grill on the Alley is one of our favorite restaurants so our level of expectation is skewed towards the highest end. We've eaten there many times and it was absolutely my #1 choice for my b-day dinner with family last night. The steaks are always great and the lobster bisque is likely the finest in the country. Consistent winners and hard to find any fault! We did a order a few things that we don't normally order and here are two honest disappointments. The Calamari app was luke warm and chewy. Not good. The Grand Marnier souffles were "eggy" and overly airy...they lacked both taste and substance and a broken espresso machine! Carl is the best server, as always, but his assistant was inattentive. The entire entree with no water?"

"Service and ambience excellent. Our serving team was attentive but at no time were we rushed. They knew the menu and made good suggestions. Dining room was "old steakhouse" dark wood, new, clean, surprisingly quiet. We could converse in normal tones. Relaxed, calm atmosphere. Well rounded wine list.
Food was outstanding. The braised short ribs may be the best I've ever had. Real ribs, bone in which enhances the flavor immensely. Very good brown sauce. Two companions had fish, the dover sole and the sea bass, both excellent. One in the

"concerned from the second we arrived at how quiet it was at 7 pm on sunday-waiter/teaming was unprofessional ,waiter left at mid meal,waitress came in and never introduced herself,when all water glasses on table are empty an offer to refill would be expected!! Food- well we were 50 percent successful, my wife and daughters seafood was excellent,however mine and my other daughters filets were overcooked- by the time we got new steaks our dining companions were done eating and ready to leave but we had previously ordered a soufle.we were there to celebrate our daughters 22 nd birthday and i felt i picked the wrong place from the second we were seated- Too many places that offer quality steaks and staff with personality to consider a revisit-"

"The restaurant is located in a large suburban shopping mall. This location is a member of a small high-end chain. But not to despair. I have not had a bad meal here or elsewhere in the chain. It serves one of the best - bar none- NY Steaks anywhere. Portions are huge. What steakhouse serves a 16oz steak any more. Bread, salads, potatoes, and vegetables as ala carte additions are also very well done. Service is very professional and attentive. Bar is lively. "We dined on Easter Sunday evening. The restaurant has a large bar and it was fairly noisy. We were seated in the back of the restaurant so it was acceptable for conversation They have a beautiful outdoor patio that would be great with good weather(it was cold and cloudy the day we were there). Our servers were very good. Would of had a 5 star in this category but the server forgot my husbands coffee with his meal. Sincere apology and the coffee appeared. In all fairness my husband was drinking sparkling water and another beverage and failed to notify the error. My husband says they have the best crab cakes he ever tasted and that is a great compliment as he is from Boston. If you can tolerate rich food the Lobster Bisque is very good."

"Went there for brunch this Easter with my wife and 10-weeks old baby girl. As always, the staff treated us like royalty. We requested a booth so that the baby and car seat could be next to mom in case a feeding was necessary. The Grill obliged and showed no concern that we had a baby with us that might disturb other customers. Our baby was quiet and once everyone realized she wouldn't make a peep, staff and customers alike came around to check out the new arrival. I digress though....The food as always was outstanding. This is our favorite restaurant and we haven't been in 7 months and we sure cherised every morsel yesterday."

"We arrived a few minutes before our reservation time and were seated promptly. It was a large table for just two of us; I would ask for a smaller table next time. Service was slow; a looooong wait for a menu, a loooong wait for drinks, etc. Food was excellent and portions large enough to be filling but not overwhelming. We ordered from the daily special menu which was significantly cheaper than the main menu. It was reasonably quiet and we were able to converse easily. Overall it was good enough but not so good that I'd be in a hurry to return. But you won't go wrong if you go there."

"We enjoyed dinner with our friends. But a few things were not fantastic. First, I don't think I cared for the shared servers. The first server was great but the second just okay. Also, the prices of the wine were over the top. Of the four of us, three had two glasses of wine each. Mine was $22 a glass - outrageous!"
