Coliseum Pool & Grill - The Resort at Pelican Hill Reviews List
Coliseum Pool & Grill - The Resort at Pelican Hill
The Coliseum brings to life the casual resort lifestyle on the Southern California coast. Chef Marc Osier's superbly prepared menu is an incomparably fun and intriguing place to dine. A large selection of pizzas made the Italian way, panini and sandwiches, seafood dishes, pastas, specialty salads, and various globally inspired dishes – there’s something on the menu for every taste and desire. Enhancing the enjoyment of the delectable food is a remarkable setting: Dine overlooking the strikingly unique Coliseum Pool with its radiant blue bottom created by hand-setting 1.1 million hand-cut glass mosaic tiles. Perfectly circular and 136 feet in diameter, the pool is set amid vaulted arches, corniced columns and an amphitheater of terraced decks where guests are sunbathing and luxuriating in private cabanas. Back dropping the dining experience are magnificent panoramas of sea and coastline.
"Made the mistake of going to brunch on Mother's Day. Overcrowded. Had reservation but told me 1 hour wait for pool view. Buffet was only average. Lines were long. $55 is ridiculous. $16 additional for mimosa. They tried to charge me $25 each for my kids but children under 5 are suppose to be free"

Review 2 for Coliseum Pool & Grill - The Resort at Pelican Hill
"It was the tail end of Mother's Day which is typically a very overworked day for most restaurants. We were an hour late for our reservation and they seated us anyway for which they get an outstanding service recommend for that. When I called earlier to say we would be late they said they would try to fit us in. I found that perplexing after we were seated because although they were busy they had plenty of open tables. I ordered a hamburger . The hamburger was okay, not great. it had no sauce or dressing just a slice of tomatoe and a pickle and piece of lettuce. The fries were mediocre. The service was professional. The hockey game on the big screen was annoying since the sound was on but we were seated in the bar area so that's what you get."

"Had a great time. Service was a little slow but, it was mom's day weekend so they were pretty packed. Great view of the awesome resort pool and ocean. Had our 7 month baby with us and they accommodated us so well. We'll be back again!"

Review 4 for Coliseum Pool & Grill - The Resort at Pelican Hill
"This location is not to be missed. One of the best dining spots, day or night, in Orange County. The general manager, Marc Levine, has made this menu and atmosphere exceptional. Try the lavender lemon drop or the margarita to start off the night, and the tempura shrimp and peppers goes well with the drinks. Everyone can be happy with the menu choices. I love the scallops, cooked to perfection. Its a great place to drop in as a local or bring out of town guests. Don't let the overall look of Pelican Hill give you the impression that the Coliseum Pool & Grill is too over-the-top - its perfect for any occassion."

Review 5 for Coliseum Pool & Grill - The Resort at Pelican Hill
"I fell in love with the pictures online from yelp and OpenTable but it's incomparable with the moment you enter the Coliseum. My boyfriend and I fell in love with the pool area. It is definitely somewhere you should bring someone special, not necessarily your significant other. A MUST GO TO! Every dollar was worth the ambiance that you experience there and the waitress that helped us was very nice. The tablescape and color theme was absolutely lovely. I will definitely be returning soon! Thank you for a great experience at a beautiful restaurant."

Review 7 for Coliseum Pool & Grill - The Resort at Pelican Hill
"This was a birthday dinner for four. Would have given the restaurant a five star rating except for the fact that it was a real cold evening. If the outside heaters were on could have taken advantage of the better iew at sunset Instead of having to eat indoors."

Review 9 for Coliseum Pool & Grill - The Resort at Pelican Hill
"I recently had lunch at the Coliseum with 2 business colleagues and we could not have been happier with our meal and the service we received. The salads were as fresh as if they had just come from the garden, my grilled chicken sandwich was exceptional, and my colleagues grilled scallops and salmon dishes were as beautifully presented as they were delightful to their palates. The General Manager even came by to check on us twice and to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. What made it even better was the gorgeous view we had of the ocean when looking beyond the beautiful pool and golf course. Great spot for lunch, dinner or a special occasion."

Review 17 for Coliseum Pool & Grill - The Resort at Pelican Hill
"We went there for a celebration. The ambiance is outstanding, the food and the service are OK. We found that the dinner table is quite large, which make the conversation a little bit difficult. There was no amuse-bouche (bread and butter)served before meal, which is unusual."

Review 19 for Coliseum Pool & Grill - The Resort at Pelican Hill
"My wife and I tried this restaurant on Valentine's Day itself, so my ratings and views might be somewhat as-cue! It was a set menu for this day and although the food was good, nothing knocked my socks off, so to speak! I give my ratings on a price-to-quality ratio and on this day, the set price was $90+ per person--way to steep for the quality of food given. I would have to try the Coliseum on a regular day to see if it's much better for the price. For romance and a wonderful view in conjunction with good service, however, this is a great place to go!!!"

Review 20 for Coliseum Pool & Grill - The Resort at Pelican Hill
"My wife & I first found this gem around last Valentine's Day, & decided to come back this year. On both visits the view, service & food were great. The difference is...last year we had come the day AFTER Valentine's, which is a regular menu w/fair prices. This year I found out it was a Prix Fixe menu, which sounded fun. What wasn't fun was arriving to discover that it's $90/person.
If it hadn't been a special occasion, I would've politely left & found a more reasonable meal elsewhere. I don't know of any meal in the world that I'd find to be worth $90. It made me feel selfish to eat it while millions starve, & the inflated price kept making me think, "Why doesn't this taste 6x better than a normal $15 meal?". It's just not for me, I gues"

Review 21 for Coliseum Pool & Grill - The Resort at Pelican Hill
"We have dined here before and had always had a good experience. The food is good, the service very good, and the view is great. We choose this resturant for our Valentines Dinner. The resturant had a fixed price menu that evening. I forgot to ask about the price which was $90, about 2.5 times more than normal. Defintely not worth the price. The resturant wasn't even that busy. I forgot that is not very bright to go out on Valentines Day. Going to eat at home next year."

"We had some friends from out of town and he was celebrating his birthday so we took them here. We all had a wonderful evening. Such a beautiful view and ambiance. Everyone's food was excellent and well presented. Both their seafood and beef were outstanding. Our server, Alec, was wonderful. Such a professional! Can't wait to go back again."
