The Amber Rose is an Eastern European restaurant specializing in homemade German, Polish, Hungarian, Russian and Italian cuisines. The bar is made of Turkish marble. The beer and wine lists consist of exemplary, hard-to-find European beverages. The dining room seats 88 guests, while the spacious banquet room “upstairs” can privately accommodate 110. The building is located in the heart of Old North Dayton, where Europeans migrated during and after World War I.
"The food is great here, while the menu looks small, what they do, they do very well. The building is gorgeous, from the stained glass windows to the decorative ceiling tiles and dark wood trim, the decor accents the menu nicely. We had a table of five and our service was great, just as it was the time before when it was only a table for two. There is much to love about this place, we will keep coming back!"

"The meat was very tough, sauce was pasty, and it was not even warm. I am so sorry that the main course was not good because I was so looking forward to a good German meal. Appetizer of herring and sauerkraut balls plus the beers were great."

"Our dinner at Amber Rose was fantastic. There were choices for those that love ethnic food as well as choices for those "safer" eaters! I loved our experience!"

"We take out of town guests to Amber Rose because it is a local restaurant with an unusual menu -- not run-of-the-mill, and the food is usually wonderful. Our last visit was quite disappointing because we had to ask twice for the appetizer we ordered; our entrees came out before our salads, and they had run out of every dessert except carrot cake. That had not been our experience in other visits -- and I'm hoping it's a one-time problem. On the basis of past experience, they deserve a second chance, and I hope it isn't a pattern that is developing. If it is, I will have to find another place for entertaining."

"The ethnic content of the menu makes Amber Rose a unique place to dine in the Dayton area. Lots of German and Polish favorites and a reasonable wine list."

"I found this place by looking online. It's in a residential area out of the way. I was looking for good German food. The food was outstanding and our server was very attentive. Neat older residential building with character. I will go back in the future."

"This restaurant game recommended. I found the food to be just okay-had the cabbage rolls and spaetzle-not very flavorful. The server seemed rushed even though the lunch crowd was not that big. She kept reaching over people to serve our drinks, plates. She did not provide us with any water or drink refills until after we were finished and did not provide any straws."

"Amber Rose is a wonderful European menu restaurant in East Dayton, not far from downtown. I had the schnitzel and it was delicious, as was the home made blue cheese dressing. The service was fast and friendly. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant."

"Had not been here in many years. We web so pleased to find that the food and friendly neighborhood feel was just as we remembered it. The ethnic menu is unmatched in the region. We plan for our next visit to be soon! Oh, and the bread pudding is unbelievably good. It is very rich and was great to share with our table of four."

"Quite enjoyed our visit! Didn't get a chance to sample the famous turtule soup though. We had the sauerkraut balls (delicious with their mustard and horseradish sauce), Lithiuanian sampler (also very delicious), and Russian stroganoff. Everything was wonderful."

"The ambiance was great and reminded me of many neighborhood restaurants in Europe. The food was fair. We just return from Russian and my husband selected the Russian Beef Stroganoff which had very large tuff pieces of beef with no mushrooms and minimal noodles. The stroganoff lacked flavor. I had the Warsaw Medley- the cabbage rolls were great, the sausage was over cooked with no tasted, the pierogi was over fried and the sauerkraut was a combination of sweet and bitter which is not typical of european cooking. When I looked at previous write-ups, this restaurant had a mixed review. I would NOT recommend this restaurant."

"We were lucky enough to snag a table at the Amber Rose for dinner the weekend after valentines day. The food was great and they had a smooth jazz trio called the Blue Heron Trio which made things very romantic. All in all it was a great experience and I can't wait to go back."
