Vons Steakhouse & Oyster Bar is locally owned and has been proudly serving the Edmonton market the highest quality of beef and seafood available since 1988.
Featuring a premium dining room, three private dining rooms and a premium casual lounge with exposed brick, New York style 30 foot bar and oyster bar this restaurant has something for everyone. Happy Hour from Monday to Friday starts at 430 p.m.- 630 p.m. We serve our full menu in both the restaurant and oyster bar areas. Our Oyster bar generally features over 15 varieties of oysters are are shucked to order right in front of you by our bar chefs. We offer 30 wines by a glass with specific attention to Pacific Rim and Canadian Wines. At Vons we offer the top 12% of AAA Alberta beef and source the highest quality of seafood available in our area.
Dining reservations are recommended. The lounge and oyster bar area is first come first served. ( some exceptions )

"over priced and for a restaraunt that has oysters in their title, there were none on the seafood buffet table. who charges $15 per kid and then charges extra for juice ($5 for OJ..what a rip!) My wife ordered a coffee, and got charged for it on top of the $39 per person buffet, when there was a coffee bar as part of the buffet. overall, maginal at best and will not return, nor refer. food was a 4 out of 10. eggs benedict lacked flavor and for a seafood/steak house, I would have expected better.

"It was a nice evening to enjoy the company of good friends. Unfortunately there was issues with the food, the special was not that great and one of our party didn't receive her meal till the rest of us were finished. However the staff were great and the overall evening was enjoyable."

"This year I wanted to treat my mother and my wife to a nicer, higher end, brunch. Von's seemed to have a good reputation and based on the prices of the brunch, $40 for adults, I thought it should be of very good quality and selection. Von's missed horribly on both accounts. The food was not good, the selection was about the same at an average golf course. Not to mention the place called us 4 times and reiterated to us that we had 1 1/2 to eat and then had to get out. I understand that if the demand for seating is there. But the place was not even full. Overall we were all very disappointed. Will not return which is a shame."

"We took my inlaws for brunch. Initially they wanted to seat us upstairs with the buffet downstairs. They are almost 80 years old! I don't think it's right to have them go up and down stairs to get food. I asked to be seated in the dining room which they did. The buffet food was average. Shrimp and crab legs were very small, and no seafood sauce on the buffet. Buffet had all the basics, but nothing special. Service was slow on taking plates away and it was not that busy yet. Waiter then charged us for 4 adults instead of 2 seniors. When I asked he adjusted the bill saying "I never like to assume age". They are 80, not 65, if he couldn't tell that, maybe he should have asked instead of assuming. Overall, very average."

"We had the seafood dinner for two. It was to say the least top notch. They had flavored butter, for the first time we tried it, very good. Grey Monk Chardonnay ( Un-Oaked ) lots of flavor. We were able to take our time and enjoy each others company. The place was packed and we could still enjoy the romantic evening."

"I have eaten at Von's a few times and always find the food to be fantastic! The service is great and the Ambience is as well.

"I had high hopes for this restaurant and felt I was let down very much. I have had a better steak at home over a casual BBQ than I had tonight for 3/4 of the price. The keg is much Better and cheaper. Definitely disappointed. The wine list also isn't that good I just had to chose a option."

"We've been to Von's many times. The first 5 or 6 times were amazing and it became our go-to special occasion place. During our last two visits, the experience has been very mediocre and not nearly as good as it once was. This most recent visit, there was a sewerlike smell, and it was quite cold. We asked to move closer to the fireplace and that was kindly accommodated. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable, but I think he was run off his feet. We ordered a starter, but our mains arrived about 5 minutes after our starter, so we had to rush. Our mains (both had filet oscar) were OK, but not amazing. Our desserts took a long time to arrive, the creme brulee was lovely but the chocolate cake was bland and didn't seem very fresh."

"The food was amazing!!!! Probably the best mingnon I have ever had. I said medium rare and that's exactly what I got. Instead of asking for medium rare, more to the rate side please and then hope that its close. Hats off to the kitchen. Our appetizers were fanastic. "I went there with a friend that likes seafood like me, and we order the seafood platter for 2. It was divine. In addition the owner was there introducing himself to each table. It is nice to se owners taking interest and looking after their business. That's what makes Von's so successful. Excellent food. Excellent quality. Excellent place.

"I've eaten at Von's a few times, last two times were not so great. The food value (taste) is getting poorer, I find the appetizers are better at Montana's to be honest. The ingredients, like the cheese for example is boring, no flavor. For $70 per plate I can find better next time. My previous visit they replaced our two meals cause they were cooked wrong and I found out later they charged me for four, very disappointed."

"I asked on the reservation that we be seated in the lounge and that was accommodated. It was a tight fit for 5 plates in the booth we were seated. It would have been much more comfortable if two of the square tables were moved together prior to our arrival. I thought the prices were rather high. I had the chicken and thought a couple pieces of small chicken and a small portion of beans was too much money. We had the coconut shrimp and scallops for an appetizer at half price due to the Oilers game. We had to have two orders of coconut shrimp as the were only 4 per order. They were quite tough, but the batter was good. My husband had the lamb and found it quite nice. We would come back for the oyster bar, not a dinner again."

"Why not include some veggies on the plate (up the price a couple of bucks) when you order prime rib or steak. Doesn't have to be a lot - maybe less spuds and some carrots or brocolli. People eat a lot more veg now. Seems having to order a side with a meal such as this is rather silly. You don't have to order veg with other main courses???
Meal was very nice and we enjoyed the ambience and service. the music was really nice without being intrusive.

"Have been to Von's on a few occasions when guests are in town or for a special occasion and have thoroughly enjoyed and raved to people about our experience. On this particular occasion it seemed that even though the restuarant was slow the service was subpar. Our waiter was slow there were large gaps between visits to check on us. The dinning room had 4 tables sat including ourselves with 2 wait staff in the dining room and even then there was large gaps between appitizers, main and dessert menu. I also found that while the food was quite good and was the same level of quality it seemed as though the portions had gotten quite small compared to the last time we had dined there."

"Was very disappointed in an over cooked steak oscar. When a customer doesn't eat 80 percent of a $42 steak, the waitress should ask if it was OK, but she did not.
For some reason, we never think of this restaurant when going out for a higher end dinner...this trend will continue, I don't think we will be back."

"Food was waaaaay over priced . Oyster bar - wow never knew a45 minute wait for raw oysters would even be acceptable ! It wasn't !!! So needless to say we never even got to taste any . I didnot appreciate men in suits lingering by our table for no apparent reason but to make us feel very uncomfortable . The one suit did say we had his two favorite steaks ,was that a heads up he wanted the left overs : O . I wasn't sure if I was supposed to eat my own food or share it with them . With out a doubt it wasnot anything to ever bring friends and family too , I would be embarrassed for them to experience Von's Steak house and hope to get oyster bar . To leave on a positive comment our waitress was sweet and did her job very well !"

"We had a group of 8, so two tables had to be pushed together...and the tables were not level with each other. That led to a couple of disasters for the people sitting where the two tables met. Wine and water glasses were toppled over a few times - and resulted in one member of our party going home in a wet shirt and pants (not fun in winter). The food was good for the most part - the yorkshire pudding with the prime rib tasted like it had been frozen and was stale, the mashed sweet potatoes were a little too mushy. Von's was exceptional at preparing vegetarian dishes for those who required them, and also prepared a kid friendly meal. The variety of meats we ordered were all beautifully prepared."
