Parker's on Ponce
Owned by brothers John-Thomas and Christopher Scott, Parker's on Ponce is Decatur's first independently owned steakhouse. The Scott family has always been extremely involved in the local community, including local government. The restaurant is named after John-Thomas' seven year old daughter, Parker. The whole family is often seen at the restaurant - it is not a business to them, but a home - and they treat guests of the restaurant as family as well.

"Parker's on Ponce is truly a gem in the City of Decatur. We always take out-of-town guests to dinner there because everything is consistent...food (excellent), service (the best) and ambience (perfect). Everything on the menu is prepared to perfection. The only place in the Metro Atlanta area that brings your steak and asks you to cut it to make certain it is to your liking. Parker's wants their dining guests to have a pleasant dining experience and it happens everytime we are there. The best!"

"My wife and I have been twice now and have loved it both times! Great atmosphere for a date, but can also accomodate a group. There are multiple dining areas seperated by walls with fireplaces in them! Food was great and service was outsanding."

"My husband took me to Parker's on Ponce for Mother's Day. I wanted to get the omlete, so I got into line. The man before me was waiting for his omlete to finish cooking so I watched the chef. He seemed a bit nervous and not very organized. He burned his pans with oil while nothing was in them cooking. Long story short, my egg white omlete was a bit raw on the inside and over cooked (crispy) on the outside. That set the tone for the rest of my meal. I hate that it wasn't better, because the atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice. Also, the sausage was a bit over cooked and so were the eggs benedict. I don't think I'd try it again for brunch."

"We went there for Mother's Day and cannot wait to go back for dinner. The location, the staff, the food, the organization of this restaurant was outstanding. Since it was Mother's Day there were mostly families with children, which meant the noise level was up a notch but the way the dining rooms are arranged, you hardly noticed. The food was excellent, the staff very friendly and professional. I would not hesitate to have a romantic evening or a large group there. Awesome!"

"The food was seasoned very well seasoned and tasty. Cost was too high for the level of brunch food items offered. The cost should have included a selection of beverages - even wine. Cakes were beautiful and very good, but slices were too large for a health conscious guest. Mini cup cakes would have been more appropriate. I was also expecting to see a larger selection of fruit."

"This was out third consecutive year doing the Mother Day brunch at Parker's. We were there a few weeks before for an engagement party and I was not disappointed at all. We do not eat pork, and you know every place likes to add it for flavor, but the chef was kind enough to make a salad for the table without bacon. That was awesome. Our waitress did a great job. She never let our drinks go empty and made sure we had everything we needed."

"We were return diners, and we brought another couple who had never dined here. We all had steaks, all grilled to perfection and very savory. The staff lingers at the table until you cut the steak to assure the doneness is to your liking. We have eaten at all the signature steakhouses in Buckhead and around town. Parkers is better. Our friends said they will be back."

"This is one of my favorite restaurants, but I have noticed a few things slipping that a classy restaurant should be aware of. The food is always delicious, but when I received my Prime Rib, it was supposed to have au jous, but it looked & tasted like a reduction. It was dark & heavy and totally overpowered the delicate flavors of the Prime Rib. I pointed this out to the waiter & said they must have brought out the wrong gravy. He replaced it ... with the same reduction! Also, the lettuce was not chilled & was limp. Soggy Bibb lettuce is not appetizing. I won't give up on them since most of the food is great & so is the service, but hope the chef cleans up his act!"

"Love Parker's--a great restaurant where waits are not outrageous, it's quiet enough to talk, and the servers are attentive and thoughtful. Wile the hubs and I are now on Weight Watchers, and this is a steak restaurant, we found good dining options. I had the pork loin with mashed sweet potatos (a tad sweet on the glaze, but good nevertheless) and a very flavorful tomato bisque."

For example, the salads are drowning in dressing and the servers are describing the soup special as "warm pizza sauce". I've got to imagine the chef must cringe to know this. You have some seasoned, well-experienced servers that are an absolute pleasure. Let them train the newbies because the newbies aren't doing much to enhance your reputation. Thanks for taking our feedback. We'll continue to return, but would love to see you tighten it up a bit. Cheers!"

"I have been going to Parker's since they opened and have mixed feelings about this restaurant. Food is not consistent and not a very good value. I have had some good meals and some very poor ones. I used to enjoy the flatiron steak entree which came with great sides...it now comes with mashed potatoes...and fries...Strange! Companion ordered a fish entree for $26 and it was a tiny portion."

"Went there on Saturday for dinner. AppetIzer (calamari) was great. All went downhill when we got 10oz New York strip steak. Steak was mediocre for the price. Also had a bottle of Leese Fitch merlot, which came with a cheap plastic cork. Of all service was slow and waiter not attentive. Overall disappointing dining experience."

"Found the restaurant via the internet as I've been away from ATL for over 3 years. I was looking for a special place for my friends 60th anniv. All of the staff was very attentive and courteous to us. The service and food was very good. I had read some mixed reviews and was a little concerned as to what our experience would be, but we were very satisfied. We were seated in the large dining area. Next time I will prefer the main dining area. Overall a very nice dining experience for a special occasion. I will definitely return on my my next trip to ATL."

"This was our first time at this restaurant and I do not think I will be back. Our server "threw away" our order and had to come back and ask us for it again. My husbands steak was not how he ordered it, my fish had the sauce on it that I had asked for on the side. The server took it back but left the potatoe and veggies. She then came back to get those to reheat. Manager came over to express her concerns and comped our dinner.Sorry for this sad review."

"I cannot recommend; I will never purposefully return. First, the jazz music was so loud you could hardly think...let alone talk. The food was mediocre. The service so-so. For the price, I certainly expected more. I chose Parker's because I'd never been and to celebrate a friend's birthday. Decatur has great restaurants (Leon's, Iberian Pig, Cakes n Ale, etc.) -- unfortunately this isn't one of them. If you go, don't expect much and you won't be disappointed."

"This is my favorite restaurant in Decatur. It NEVER disappoints. Why go to Chops or Bones when this humble, yet amazing steakhouse is right in Decatur. They offer such a great variety of beef and seafood. Be sure to try the calamari as well - melts in your mouth. Parker's is an amazingly consistent, delicious spot."

"My husband and I are big fans of Parker's on Ponce! Our recent meal there was wonderful, as always. From their creative cocktails to the tasty appetizer through the truly yummy meal, everything was a hit. We also appreciate the ease with which the folks at Parker's on Ponce will split dishes - like their house salad that has just the right combination of flavors! We'll keep coming back since there is always something new to try, plus some of the menu staples are our favorites. You can never go wrong with a steak (any of them!) plus the lobster mac and cheese is to die for, as are the shrimp and grits with andouille sausage. Also of note is that their wait staff and bartenders are genuinely friendly, nice and knowledgeable."

"Every year we have Easter Brunch at a local establishment and we were upset with what we received at Parker's on Ponce. It was obvious that they were expecting big crowds, however there were always empty tables while we were there. It seemed as though they had added extra tables which caused us to rub shoulders, literally, with the patrons next to us. Although it was a brunch buffet, we had to wait extended periods of time for our waiter to bring us additional clean plates. The items served were mainly breakfast items, there were no vegetables offered. The desserts were to die for, however when I asked the waiter if they were regular menu items he said no, and said they were catered in for the brunch. Definitely not worth price."

"We go to Parker's frequently. We specifically went on St. Patrick's Day because they advertised that they would be serving Irish Soda Bread, Guinness Beer and great corned beef and cabbage. We were very disappointed because they had no Guinness Beer, no Irish Soda Bread and the meal of Corned Beef and cabbage was not very good. So we will stick to steak or rib roast when we go again. They did ruin my Irish Celebration though with the food that was overcooked and not having Irish Soda Breand and Guinness."
