dell'anima means "of the soul" in Italian and the food features hearty, eloquent dishes of thoughtful simplicity. Our menu offerings change daily, and we use local, seasonal, sustainably harvested produce where possible. Our menu features a selection of pastas made in-house daily, traditional dishes rarely found outside of Italy, and Italian-inspired creations that are of Thompson's own invention. Our wine list features an array of small production, high-quality selections with an emphasis on traditional and natural winemaking. Over 200 hand-chosen wines are selected for flavor, uniqueness and tradition. dell'anima is open for lunch Monday through Friday 12:00pm to 5:00pm, weekend brunch 11:00am to 3:00pm and dinner Tuesday through Friday from 5:30 pm until 2:00 am, Saturday 5:00pm to 2:00am, Sunday 5:00pm to 12am and Monday 5:30pm to 12am. On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, dell'anima offers aperitivo from 4 pm - 6 pm. Reservations are recommended but we accept many walkin-ins.
"Came here for mother's day. Our table was tight with three people at a two person table, but the service was great and the food was delicious. Love their dinner as well!"

"My husband and I have been waiting months to try dell'anima. We were so disappointed- the service was terrible. We waited 20 minutes for our wine and to place our food order. We only saw our waiter to take our order and bring the check. We wanted to order more food and drink but the waiter never returned. We live in the West Village and love the neighborhood restaurants. We recommend many restaurants to our friends, but we will not recommend dell'anima."

"The food was definitely memorable and fit for foodies. The only issue is that in a city with so many options, why dine in such a dingy, loud environment. I know the open Kitchen is part of the charm/appeal, but between the chefs shouting and slamming pans, and the waiters bumping into our chairs, I found the whole experience really stressful. Probably won't go back."

"I booked a table here because my wife and I had a wonderful meal last time we came. Unfortunately the second time was not as great. We had a fantastic wine chosen by our waiter, and the staff was very attentive. When we had to send a plate of food back, they were more than accommodating. In fact, every dish was extremely heavy on the salt and we considered sending others back as well. It was really too bad, the menu looked amazing and we were excited for everything we ordered. I eat out a lot, and I can't remember the last time I sent something back. Perhaps an overcooked steak two years ago. It really was a bummer and kind of ruined the rest of the experience, which to Dell'Anima's credit, was wonderful."

"was a little skeptical when first walking in to find it so tiny and tables tightly packed, but the incredible service, food and wine more than made up for any initial hesitation. can't wait to come back for the incredible pastas. wanted to try everything on the menu so will have to return soon. our waitress was knowledgable and helpful with the wine selection, and service was paced just right--didn't feel rushed, but no lengthy waits between courses."

"I've been here a few times on dates and friend dates. It's cozy, dim, tables are really close together, but the overall noise level drowns out specific conversations, lending an element of privacy and intimacy. Great seasonal menu with plenty of options. The service is always incredibly friendly without being patronizing or annoying. I loved the wine our server recommended, she was cool."

"One guest was late because the Open Table map imbedded in the calendar took her to the wrong place! (and there was a bit of an attitude from the restaurant because of this late arrival)."

"dell'anima always has terrific food and great service. I always love the grilled octopus to start and the tagliatelle bolognese for my entree. The service is kind and dependable, and they're are always great at pairing their wines with my meals. It always feels a little tight in there (it's hard to sit as a threesome), and it can get a little warm and smoky given the open set-up of the kitchen, but the overall experience is always wonderful."

"I originally went there for the pasta, but turns out that their menu for brunch is waaaaay better. I LOVED the poached eggs with mushroom and polenta. Service was great and just be aware that the place isn't big so it's a bit tight."

"Our food and service were wonderful and i would recommend dell'anima to anyone who appreciates fine Italian food. The space is small and the menu is limited to a few fine selections. otherwise it would rate a fill 5 stars. They have a reasonable corkage fee for those who refer not to partake of the usual high priced wine list."

"Went to Dell'Anima for an early Saturday brunch, and found it to be one of the better brunches we've had in the city. Everything from the complimentary bread w/ricotta & honey to the entrees was delicious. I had the duck-hash and would highly recommend. I'm also a huge fan of carbonara, and Dell Anima's version one of the best I've had. Service was very friendly/attentive. The restaurant is on the small side (we were told there were only 3 tables that could accommodate a party of four), so reservations recommended for parties over 2 people. Will definitely be returning for dinner in the near future."

"I took my girlfriend to this place. The service is great so is the food, too. The environment gives in more of romantic feeling or relaxation for us. The people who works there are very nice. Many choices of wine, and it tastes Fabulous, too. Nice view of chef making food for us. Worth going whenever it comes to any special occasion or a date."

"This little place is a gem! So far it is my favorite Italian restaurant in the city. I have already recommended it to my friends. We were impressed by how generous and gracious the chef was. He sent out 2 complimentary small plates. I can't wait to dine here again and try new dishes."

"We were recommended dell'anima by a super nice shopgirl at Annelore. We made reservations while in a cab on the way to the restaurant. I think we got lucky, because the place was packed. We ended up sitting at the bar/chef's table. Amazing food...and it was fun to watch the three chefs do their magic.
Great wine recommendation. Great cocktails. The brussels sprouts are wonderful, great antipasti, loved the linguini. My mom had the pollo al diavolo, which was the best thing we had. Highly recommend this cozy, energetic, casual and delicious spot."

"i was a bit disappointed by this place. i'm a HUGE fan of l'apicio and l'artusi, but sadly dell'anima was not up to par. they gave us some free drinks and appetizers since our table was not ready at the reserved time, which was a nice touch. however, if i had paid for those appetizers, i would have been even more disappointed by their portions and prices. 3 tablespoons of red pepper puree with some bread counts as bruschetta??
my pasta carbonara was so salty it was almost inedible, but i was starving after having waited an additional 45 minutes for our table, so i was ready to eat anything.
my friends' food was all pretty good though (kale salad, garganelli), and the broccoli rabe was fantastic."
