"The view is the best part of Half Moon. My husband enjoyed his steak but my Lobster roll was over dressed. The salad was soaking in dressing, definitely ask for the dressing on the side. My husband asked for another drink when our dinner was served and received it when dinner was completed. The waiter had such a strong accent he was very hard to understand. Luckily they waited the tables in a pair and Dawn Marie told us the specials so we knew what our options were. Juan did the dessert menu and I had no idea how he was describing the Napolean. What I got was not what I expected. The childrens party with the whistle blowing magician in the open upstairs seating area was very annoying."

"We visited for the first time a year ago and did not have a good time due to the attitude of our waiter but went back again for mothers day and a family birthday this year and had a great time. This time our table was fantastic and the wait staff were friendly, knowledgeable and responsive."

"Awful Mothers Day dinner. They raised the price to a $53 prefix for mediocre food. And they added on 20% tip for bad service. I had eaten here once before and it was pretty good, but after this meal, I would NEVER eat here again! The salad was soggy, shrimp was soggy, even though they said it was grilled, pork was dry, peaches in peach crisp were from a can and there was minimal flavor. Awful, awful, awful. The waitress actually said that if you grill shrimp or fish to get that familiar outer "grilled" texture, that the shrimp would be overcooked and dry. Pretty ignorant. The only good things were the bread and the view."

"Menu is a little limited. There are no daily specials that our waiter mentioned. the food was good but my appetizer and entree both had the same salad on the side, I always order crab cake appetizer where ever I go as it's a favorite but they should have had a sauce and so should the salmon entree."

"While dining on a Saturday night, our experience with the waitress was was terrible. From the moment we sat down, we felt as if she was rushing us . We hadn't even opened our menus and she was asking for our orders. As the last bite of each course was taken, there she was asking what we would like for the next. We were dining with old friends and wanted a leisurely dinner but we felt as if we were being pushed to eat and get out.
When we confronted her that we were not prepared to have desert yet, she took our drink orders and did not return for over one half hour. We had to ask another waiter to find them.
Overall the food was decent but the waiters running back and forth and being rushed to eat was very disappointing."

"Spectacular views of the Hudson and the New Jersey Palisades make this a destination restaurant. The food and service are above average but alas also is the noise level. Recommend the cone of french fries to share with the table when having drinks. The halibut served on a bed of crunchy sliced vegetables was excellent and accompanied by a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand made a tasty And satisfying entrée

"Half Moon is situated right on the Hudson and restaurants' design gives diners wonderful views. The food is not bad...it's just not special and it's not cheap. If you are looking for a comfortable restaurant with great views, Half Moon will not disappoint, however if you're a foodie looking for a special meal...look elsewhere"

"The outdoor dining wasn't open yet, but you could have drinks outside, inches from the Hudson, and you can see all the way down to manhattan and up north as well. Very relaxing. Its one of my favorite places!
They were nice enough to get us a table next to the window inside when we asked; our only complaint was that the window was a little fuzzy/hazy-could be cleaned more often (I'm sure its difficult right next to the waves and water); interfered with the view a little.
Great food and drinks and ambience, though. Love this place. Great duck tacos and ceviche, lots of great seafood.
I may try the steak next time; haven't tried it yet."

"We plan to try this restaurant one more time, in hopes of a better experience. For our first visit-- we were seated on the second floor, which had no view and was extremely warm... the temperature up there must have been 20-degrees hotter than the rest of the restaurant. My dish (Chicken Milanese) was not good at all---the chicken was too greasy, the breading didn't taste good at all, and the salad was tasteless/missing any real dressing. My girlfriend had a better experience---she enjoyed the Guajillo Rubbed Half Chicken, good taste with good sides. The wait staff was very friendly and very attentive to our needs, which is why we’ll give it another shot--and try a different dish."

"They have the price fix menu (29.99 for 3 course) on friday so we had that. (Seems to only be not in effect saturdays). Was excellent! So good now i want to go back to try some of the regular priced dishes not on there to see if they are even better. Never gone here assuming it would be overpriced and uninspired due to those typical on the warer locations that dont seem to try very hard. This was not one of them. Great beer selection and reasonable. A bottle of Chimey, that it $10 everywhere else was $8 here. Fantasic wait staff durring our visit."

"This was my second visit. This is a fantastic place. Good food, good service, great views. Unusual for a place with these great views to also have good food. The first was for Sunday brunch. This is a different place for Sunday brunch. The staff tries mightily, but they are so busy that it is impossible to win. But weekday lunch is another story. Fantastic place."

"The service was friendly and good. It was a busy Saturday night and I think one of our servers (we had two assigned to our table) was in training. The food was incredible, as always. The Mahi and Octopus Ceviche was outstanding, as were the duck tacos (appetizer). We had the Granny Smith Apple Crumble for dessert and it was delicious. Whole-heartedly recommend this restaurant."

"I go to Half Moon often mainly because of the beautiful views, good (not great) food, and ambiance. I requested a table next to the window, mainly because of the gorgeous views, and because of my cataract problem, I am able to enjoy the view without glare. Unfortunately, we were unable to get a window table, even though it was requested. One seat of our table faced the window, and the other faced the inside of the restaurant. Even though the service was impeccable and the food was wonderful, I was highly disappointed that I had to face into the restaurant, and my view was of a noisy party. I was so looking forward to this experience, as I was in need of a peaceful luxurious experience (which it always is!"

"We went here to celebrate a friend's birthday and the waiter remembered this from our reservation. The service was awesome. The food was not as great as it could have been.
The pork chops that my friend ordered was dry - along with the mashed potatoes.
I ordered the seafood plancha - it was good, not excellent. My husband had the duck.
The flavor was good - but it was also slightly dry. The best dish was the whole red snapper cooked with tomatoes, red peppers, etc. The flavor was great, the fish was tender
and the veggies were tasteful. The view is INCREDIBLE! and the bonfire pits outside is definitely very unique.
I would go back for drink and appetizers - not dinner."

"What a great experience! I took my family (including two kids) there for my husband's birthday brunch, and we had a wonderful time. The food was great - we had the fried calimari (light, crispy and flavorful), the St. Louis ribs (smoky and tender), the french toast with fruit compote and the incomparable eggs benedict. All delicious. We also had the chocolate volcano cake and dulce de leche creme caramel - very good and customized with a birthday message which we didn't even have to ask for. Stunning Hudson River and Palisades view, and the service couldn't have been better."

"Really enjoyed the prix fixe priced dinner. The food was good and for $29 it was reasonable, however they only offer this from time to time. They should do it during the week continuously. Only negative comment was the desserts could be improved. We really don't like sweet desserts but the two desserts we ordered could use some sweetening i.e. cheesecake and the pineapple upside down cake."
