"Vito's called 1/2 hr before our time saying a mistake had been made with online reservations. We would have to eat 1.5 hrs later. We had family coming in from various areaswho were on the way. Spoke to hostess by phone who spoke to a manager. Called me back w/in minutes and said to come now (our reservation time). They were changing from brunch to dinner and no one should have been booked during that period. Arrived as scheduled and the place was bustling with brunch patrons. Had a great meal w/ excellent service! They decided to continue with brunch. They accomodated us and we did not have to adjust due to their error. That is professionalism and the way to run a business! Great job and great day!! Would highly recommend!!"

"I have been to Vito's before and this experience was less positive. The waiter was good with some lack of attentiveness. The food was very good, but it seemed the portions were smaller than I remember. All the people in our party had the same comment. I may go back for pizza, not sure if I'll go for dinner."

"This was one of the worst dining experiences I have had in a while. It started when it took 15 minutes for the waiter to bring us our beverage order. The bread and accompanying sauce was the highlight of the dinner. That was about the only thing done right. My girlfriend ordered the salmon entree cooked medium rare which costed 26 dollars and change. Once it was finally brought out her salmon was cooked well done and was the worst looking piece of salmon I've ever seen. Especially for the price. It was a very small portion size. It took the waiter 20 or so minutes for the waiter to bring us our check after we finished dinner."

"Shrimp Scampi was delicious as the main, my clams casino were also terrific would have liked to have 6 instead of 4! Service was superb for our somewhat demanding family..."

"We went for the Wine and Chocolate dinner. It was an awesome experience - five courses paired with five wines. The owner and his chef set up a big table in the middle of the room and prepared the food right in front of us. It was only $50 - which, considering it included five different wines - seems like quite the steal to me. Great concept...chocolate in every dish. We'll be back for their monthly wine dinners!"

"As other reviewers mentioned, the service was a little uneven. Friendly, supportive, but pace was off. Long gaps between drinks/courses, but we had enough to talk about and were not starving so it was OK!"

"I think the meal was overpriced. I think for $25.00 we got a little piece of veal (not that tender, we needed a knife to saw thru it) and a little bit of pasta. Our other meal was pesto chicken with pasta. The meal were ok, not great. I think a dinner salad should be served with the meal. Salad is inexpensive. We split a Ceaser salad, romaine and 6 croutons for $11.00. The server was great, the bread was good. The over all experience for what we paid was not up to our expectations."

"A pleasant surprise, finding this place during a short stay in the Hartford area. Food was excellent and the entire staff did their part to make sure we were happy. Would definitely return if I find myself in the area again."

"No one at the front desk when we arrived. Found the coat room ourselves, still waited another 5 minutes before anyone showed up to greet us. She was efficient but not overly welcoming. We were out for a romantic Valentines dinner and were seated in the "tavern" area behind the bar next to booths with families eating pizza. Bare table, no table cloth. We were in sight of a more formal dining dining area with table cloths and a quieter atmosphere. Seating appeared to be ramdome because no section was at all near capacity. Since it was Valentines Day, I would think the staff would recognize a couple out for a romantic $200 dinner and be seated appropriately. Our waitress was overly friendly, yet lost interest in us abruptly and just walked off"

"The braised short rib was incredible. Good wine list....and it was nice to have a table visit by the owner himself!"

"Vito's by the Water did an outstanding job hosting my surprise birthday party for 30 of our close relatives this past Saturday night. Everyone from the hostess to the bartender to the manager, Rich, to our waitress, Kim, was outstanding. My husband and I are still receiving compliments on the food and how great of a time everyone had at Vito's by the Water. Everyone was truly impressed, something that is hard to do with our families! We will be back soon to enjoy a nice, quiet dinner together (which is what I thought was happening before the surprise unfolded!)Thanks for a great experience, Vito's!"

"Vito's by the Water is a cut above casual dining. Unfortunately, it is priced as if it is 2 or 3 cuts above. The food is acceptable, the atmosphere is nice enough and the service is fine but the bill tells a different story. The bill says, "You've just been to an exceptional restaurant".
Vito's biggest advantage is that there isn't much like it in the area so it's a pleasant alternative to the collection of mediocre chains on Rt 75. Personally, I would drive an extra 20 minutes to West Hartford or Simsbury where the food quality and service better match the pricing. At least then the bill won't be telling my tastebuds some tall tale."

"They have a reasonable fixed price menu for 24$ on Friday and Saturday but it has not changed in many months. One menu item is an "heirloom" tomato salad and I assure you the tomatoes are about as far from heirloom as you can get. The plating is incredibly inconsistent but the food is usually very good. Service is also very inconsistent."
