Sea Pearl restaurant at the Merrifield Town Center is an elegant casual restaurant with great service in a contemporary setting. The menus are seasonal,sophisticated, elegant and warm environment. The restaurant has a grand curve entrance surrounded by glass panels and bordered at the opposite end by an elegant curved 40ft bar. The restaurant also boasts a private lounge and a cozy warm dinning room with mixed seating of booths, banquettes, raised private dinning area and walnut hardwood flooring. Outdoors seating is also available on the patio during the springs, summers and falls.

"Restaurant was not prepared for large crowds. They ran out of wine glasses. Drinks were very late and meal service was sporadic. Asked for quiet table was seated close to bar and kitchen and cold draft was constantly hitting our table from the front door. PARKING WAS A NIGHTMARE on a Saturday night. Restaurant needs some improvement in increasing number of servers and having enough stemware and improving parking ease."

"Went for Mother's Day brunch. While no special menu was listed on their website, or mentioned when they called me to confirm our reservation, we got there and they had Prix Fixe vs. regular menu. That would have been fine, but the Prix Fixe was more than the price would have been adding the 2 items (one appetizer plus an entree) would have been from the regular menu. No dessert, mimosa, no special Mother's Day anything. It appears that they charged a premium just for showing up on a holiday which was annoying and somewhat odd since they weren't even full."

"We have been to Sea Pearl many times and the food and service are always very good. This time we were there for Mother's Day and although it was quite crowded, the noise level stayed in the moderate range (thankfully). The service was excellent, although some of the staff persists in clearing dishes while one is still eating. I woudln't mind so much if they didn't reach in front of me to do it. We had the duck appetizer, as well as the zucchini/onion rings, and both were good. While their poultry and beef dishes are quite good, I try to stick with their seafood selections, including the sushi. The chef has a deft hand with seafood, and the presentations are as beautiful as the taste. No desserts this time -- too full and happy!"

"Arrived for an early afternoon meal (just before 4 pm on saturday). There were about 4-5 other people eating in the restaurant. We had sushi (several different types) and the Grilled Bell & Evan Free Range Chicken. Food was good, but nothing to rave about. A little pricey if you ask me. Customer service really lacks and the main reason I would not go back. You would expect a friendly and helpful waiter/waitress in a nice restaurant; however, we felt they were more cold and their just to do their job."

"Have been to Sea Pearl several times, however this is the first time I had dessert. Meal started with a salad, and I asked for a different dressing and they recommended a lemon vinaigrette. It was too sweet for my taste, and the chef made a dressing for me without any sugars! After dinner, I opted for the Coconut Cake, and I am so mad that all the times I had dined there before that I never ordered it! It was the most insanely divine coconut cake that I have had in a long time. It came as its own little layer cake, about 3 inches in diameter with a yummy buttercream frosting all around an in between the layers, sprinkled with a dessicated coconut, and served with a lemon creme fraiche. Totally yum!!"

"I've been to Sea Pearl many times for lunch and dinner. This time was different. We asked for a booth and were about to be seated when the boss lady said because we were a party of two, we had to be moved to a table for two - it was not crowded. Then, the menu changed. I ordered open range chicken which came out watery and bad tasting -- must have been frozen. My sister had seafood which was not good either. This is very different from the past as we always enjoyed the food and ambience very much. There's a lot of new restaurants in that neighborhood now and we'll be trying them out. Too bad as we loved Sea Pearl."

"Went on a Friday night with 10 of my girlfriends for my birthday dinner. It was my third time visiting Sea Pearl (I've had their brunch, lunch, and dinner now). They were very accommodating and the service was perfect. Our waiter was very patient and always made sure our water glasses were filled and that we were all happy. The Sea Bass was AMAZING and I can't wait to go back to have it again!"

"This dinner was like the rest: fantastic! Celebrated a birthday on a girls night out. Treated like royalty by Brian. The Malbec we ordered was not in the house but Brian found it! Dinner was so good with the birthday girl tackling the Bronzino. A little work since it comes to table whole but she worked him over and loved the fish. A scoop of mango sorbet from the house ended a great night. We ran in the pouring rain like we were still kids and laughed all the way home. Perfect place to enjoy great food, great service, laugh and celebrate!"

"This is a beautiful restaurant and we got outstanding service. We brought our two little kids, who were a handful, but they were prepared with kids menus and a very patient waiter. Menu was interesting--several intriguing sushi rolls and lots of seafood, but even if you don't like seafood they had a little bit of everything. My husband and a friend ordered the fisherman's stew--it was huge, with a lobster on top. Unfortunately, the lobster was overcooked but everything else was excellent.

"My girlfriend and I Really enjoyed our Dinner. The fisherman's stew was prepared to perfection, generous portion of seafood and outstanding broth recipe. The chillean sea bass was well seasoned and the chef's special sauce gave it a nice touch. Our server Khoi was well knowledgeable and friendly, he suggested the blue point oysters which are indeed very fresh. I will recommend this place to my friends and I am planning my next visit!"

"Best East/West fusion food I've had in the DC area. I think the only better I've had was at Blue Ginger. I wouldn't order a martini (wife and I are gin fans, and the martinis were weak and without flavor except for olive brine), but everything else we tried was outstanding! BBQ fish ribs, stellar sushi rolls, and fabulous scallop ceviche made it so that we never left the appetizer and sushi menu. We can't wait to go back and maybe try an entree!"

"We went there for lunch. Other than a rather loud family seated next to us, it was fairly quiet.
Seats are too close together to be "romantic" though the restaurant is pretty.
The servers were very attentive. Perhaps a bit too attentive? But then that's an issue I would gladly deal with.
The food it good, but I don't know if I would consider it a foodie spot. It was "mainstreamed" a bit (example: the sauce on the pork belly was much like that on a take out sesame beef). But the seafood dishes had tons of actual fish, rather than filler, the portions generous, and the price was reasonable. The cocktails were very, very good. I feel the food was good enough I'd love to go back and take our 6 yo, who's a junior foodie and well behaved."

"The restaurant is very nice except that the view is not the best from the window because you see Gallows Road. The appetizer were very good duck and calamari. The entrees were not very good the lamb and macaroni and shrimp could hardly be eaten. The chicken and steak were okay but the shrimp with veggie seem to be a hit with one of us out of 5. Of the 5 of us 3 ordered dessert and it was my birthday and I did not order any dessert but he offered to put a candle in one of my kids dessert after spending $250 I was thinking I could have gotten some kind of birthday dessert. The waiter was okay did nothing special or offer to fix the food it was very obvious 2 of use did not like our meals they hardly got touched for that price."

"We have been going to this restaurant for over a year. The service gets worse every time. My wife and I ate there last weekend and the time it took for use to get our food was unbelievably long. We go there because we like the food. But we always leave with a bitter taste in our mouths because of the long waits for food and below average service. I only write this because I want management to read this and make some changes for the better."

"This was our first time visit Sea Pearl, and I must admit it was very nice. We had an early reservation for a Saturday, so they were transitioning from lunch to dinner. So when we arrived there was only one other couple there. The atmosphere, setting and decor was so elegant and beautiful, it made our evening so quiet and romantic. The food was excellent in presentment and taste. We truly enjoyed it, and would visit it again."

"We've eaten at Sea Pearl twice. The service is excellent. The seafood is always exceptionally fresh and well-prepared. However, the chefs need to be smarter about plating. They tend to put cold or room-temperature garnishes on top of hot food. For example, my wife had terrific scallops, which were arranged around a mound of a puree (parsnip, or parsnip and potato) -- but then a pile of cool leafy greens were on top of the puree, which meant that the top half-inch or so was room temperature by the time it got to the table. I had the same problem: a carrot and something else (daikon?) salad was piled on top of my rice. Why do this?"

"We went to Sea Pearl b/c of the wait at 4 Sisters and we knew that it was the same owners. I have gone to 4 sisters for years. Sea Pearl is one of my new favorite places. We got the Tuna Tartar appetizer which was great. I had the Seabass and my husband had the Cod. The seabass was perfectly cooked and was wonderful. We had our kids at the restaurant and the staff was great with them. We'll undoutedbly be back. I plan to take my parents and in laws to Sea Pearl when they come into town!"

"The restaurant is nice and in a good location. However, the food was terrible and expensive. I returned my entree to the kitchen and they did re-cook my meal which was nice but, it still didn't taste good. The prices are quite high for both the food and the drinks. "Based on a previous visit our expectations were high, and Sea Perl lived up to its reputation once again. The Spring Salad was fresh and brought out a nice contrast between the green apple and the crumbs of blue cheese; the Crab Cake had just the right moisture and a pleasant, subtle saltiness, and the Fisherman's Stew brought out a firework of competing tastes that required an oaky Chardonnay for balance.
