"My husband and I are celebrating our ninth anniversary in Fredericksburg. The Cabernet Grill was our first, and by far, our most memorable. The food, drinks, atmosphere, and service were outstanding. We would make the four hour trip just to come back here! !"

"We happened upon this gem of a restaurant on the internet and could not have done better! We arrived about 30 minutes prior to our reservation time on the eve of Mother's Day, and the hosting staff was prepared to seat us immediately. We requested a table outside and they were more than happy to accommodate, though they were quite apologetic that we had to wait about 5 minutes for the table to be ready (still 20 minutes prior to our res. time). The waiter, Eric, was excellent, the food was excellent, and the ambiance was outstanding. I would highly recommend the Cabernet Grill to everyone, especially if you're celebrating a special occasion."

"This restaurant was listed at the top of the TripAdvisor list of restaurants in Fredericksburg. We decided to try it thinking it might be touristy. Well, it was anything but. The restaurant sits outside of town by a couple of miles. We ate there on a Wednesday night and it was quiet and not crowded, so we can't vouch for the weekend crowd. We sat outside and it was quite pleasant. The service and the food were terrific, as well as the prices. The grounds inside the entrance were very pretty with waterfalls and cabins. We did peak into the dining room and it was well appointed. But we could see how it could get noisy in there as it is a big open room. We would definitely go back."

"Excellent food from appetizers to desert, with the exception of the chicken fried pecan pie (not to many pecans to be found). This is the best food the hill country has to offer. The cajun snapper was perfect and the coconut shrimp and tenderloin was incredible. They have an all Texas wine list. We usually stay away from Texas wines but after sampling a couple of flights we found some notable wines we had never heard of and will look for."

"My daughter and I spent a mother/daughter weekend in Fredericksburg, and tthe Cabernet Grill was recommended by a friend. I am delighted we took her up on the recommendation. Food was excellent - not your standard steak/seafood. Warm goat cheese appetizer melted in your mouth. We both ate a fish entree - both were absolutely phenomenal. Can't wait to bring my husband next time!"

"The Cabernet Grill was a lovely place for our anniversary dinner. The Jumbo Lump Crab Gratin was wonderful. I liked that it was only a couple of bites each to leave plenty of room for the main course and dessert. I had the Surf and Turf and the tenderloin was very tender with a delicious sauce. The coconut shrimp were made better than others I've had with a sticky sauce on the shrimp instead of just on the side. My husband had the ribeye, which was good, but nothing exceptional. The fried pecan pie with Jack Daniels ice cream was an great way to end the dinner. They have a great selection of Texas wines and they use many local ingredients. Our server, Trent, was attentive without being intrusive - perfect for a romantic evening."

"This is one of my 3 favorite restaurants. The food was great, but not quite as great as I previously remembered. We had a reservation at 6:30, and tried to change it to 7:30, but we were told that there were none available. When we finished, around 7:30, there were quite a few empty tables available. I found this to be curious."

"Second time to visit. First was anniversary trip to Fredericksburg and second was trip to Fredericksburg with my mom. On both occasions the food and service was excellent. My mother ordered chicken and enjoyed it so much she went home and tried to recreate the recipe! The atmosphere fits the tourist expectations of a Texas getaway in the rolling hills wine country. "I continue to enjoy my visits to the Cabernet Grill. Their Texas wine list has led me to discover the true gems we have in the regional wine makers. The crab meat appetizer is simply heavenly. The kitchen realizes the need not to overcook seafood and as a result, every seafood dish is delightful. Meanwhile, on this visit I tried the Chicken Fried Ribeye with Lobster Sauce. While I had some trepidation in ordering it, I quickly realized what a harmonious and scumptious dish it truly was. The addition of new deserts addresses the previously perceived weakness in the menu. I simply look forward to my next visit. Well done!!"

"I've eaten at a lot of different establishments over the 30+ years I've been visiting Fredericksburg, but this is one of the gems in the area. Ambience was very good and food was very good. Service was a little slow as the dining area was packed, but all was still acceptable. One of the features of the grill which I was most impressed with was that they only serve Texas wines. We nabbed a bottle of the Malbec from Stonewall and found it excellent...which was a surprise. This will likely become our favorite special spot as we pilgrimage to Fredericksburg every year to celebrate our anniversary. The cottage rentals seem attractive too and we may end up staying there next year as well."

"It is my new favorite restaurant. The dry rubbed tenderloins are the finest peice of meat I have ever tasted. The seafood is exceptional as well, but I can't get past the tenderloins. The wine list is exceptional with my favorites from the local vineyards.

"Wonderful restaurant with great food and friendly staff. Food is a little upscale and prices also, but in this case worth it. We got to taste some nice Hill Country wines also. Had the crab gratin, sausage soup and pork belly buns for appetizers, all very good. Then the beef kabob and wife had a great fish dish. Finished the meal with two tasty deserts, bread pudding and strawberry shortcake, both delicious. Highly recommended. Don't forget to reserve a table as this place gets pretty crowded. Housed in an old cotton mill. The server we had was very helpful and enthusiastic which also helped create a great dining experience."

"We had an excellent dinner. I tried to get a reservation for Sunday April 7th and it was booked. I was disappointed in that but got one on Tuesday. The mashed sweet potatoes are out of this world and I would love to know how they are made. The crab stuffed shrimp I had was outstanding. Our waiter, Eric, was prompt and friendly. The only downside was it was a little loud."

"Our last experience at Cabernet was wonderful, no so much this time. My husband and I both ordered a filet(medium well, mine was very good and cooked perfectly. My husbands was cooked correctly about and inch in all the way around and then was very rare the rest of the steak. The waiter didn't serve the food and didn't come back by to ask if everything was ok. We asked for the manager at the end of the meal and she came by, she didn't seem too concerned but did ask if we would like it cooked some more. We said no as by that time I had finished my meal and we go to dinner together so that we can eat together at the same time, not my husban 30 minutes later. They took 18.00 off of a $100.00 ticket, not much satisfaction."

"Waiter was more interested in starting his weekend that provide "excellent" service to us as he told us three times that this was his last shift of the week! They also claim to have a "full bar" so I ordered wine and my husband asked for Wild Turkey on the Rocks and the waiter said they didn't have it - so I guess it's a limited full bar?
Also I recommend making reservations and asking to sit downstairs. The last two times we have been put upstairs in a small room that is stuffy. Downstairs is truly unique, wonderful and open!"

The entree of quail, beef and pork tenderloin was good but not great. The quail was the best tasting of the three and the pork tenderloin was below average in taste and texture. . The cheese grits were average, with not much taste and the green beans were fresh.. Everything was served hot and very well presented on a pre-heated plate.

"We loved dining at the Cabernet Grill, which is just 7 minutes from downtown Fredericksburg. To start, we chose the escargot, which was delicious, and who could resist dipping the bread in the garlic butter? The dry rub tenderloin was fabulous, and cooked to perfection. The service was great, and they have quite a bit of space for outside dining. The desserts were beautiful, but we had to pass, as we had no more room. You can't go wrong at this restaurant."

The escargot and the lump crab appetizers had the same preparation, which we did not realize and no one told us. It was good on the crab meat but not so much on the escargot.
