"In restaurant on a Tuesday night. Very quiet, decor nice to elegant, tables set up condusive to conversation. Service attentive. However, food, while nicely presented, was not much superior to that had in far less expensive chinese restaurants elsewhere. Food and decor not in sync."

"It was my first visit, and turned out even better than expected. The décor of the building, lobby, and restaurant is 1931 Art Deco, and that alone is astonishing. The service was highest level, and the food superb. I want to go right back!"

"Mr. K's was an elegant experience -- beginning with the orchid corsage presented to me when we arrived, continuing through the cherry blossom pink banquettes and gold plated flatware, and the lovely service in the art deco dining room. We expected Sydney Greenstreet to appear suddenly and be seated at the next table. We went for a late lunch and found the place almost empty -- just 6 or 7 tables occupied in a large space. The food was good -- best pan fried dumplings we've ever had (including London and San Francisco) -- and various dishes were divided among us before being presented at the table. While delicious - they could have been hotter. The menu is large enough to satisfy the curious but not particularly challenging. Recommended."

"This is my third time to dine here. I booked a week in advance & made a special request for my birthday. Nothing was done or said or acknowledge!!!!!!! I was meeting a friend from Glen Cove NY. I will never eat here again! The waiter was cold and very impersonal. It was very dissappointing, truly! I am from Texas and never have I been treated so rudely. Karan Robinson"

"This is a tourist trap. I should have caught on earlier before spending $28 for a chicken and broccoli entree that barely fed one person. Our appetisers ($31) arrived cold and were the same items you would receive off of a mall buffet bar. Skip this place."

"The atmosphere at Mr. K was the only good feature. The biggest disappointment was the food. The dumplings were dense, and not warm enough. The main courses were barely ok - not even as good as an average takeout. Certainly not authentic. Service was adequate but not warm. Will not go back."

"Got the $48 pre-fixe dinner. Food was OK but again not much better than ordinary take-out. Waiter forgot to serve our soup and instead of taking it off our bill he served it AFTER our dinner. Not a good move. And any restaurant would not have charged for the mistake. Not Mr. K's. Dumb to say the least. Mr. K's needs a major overhaul in food, service and knowing how to do the right thing."

"Overall it was amazing, my partner proposed to me! Felt a little embarrassed at the end he had informed us we hadn't tipped enough, we aren't from America and was still very new to the whole tipping thing. That put a disappointment on our night. Over all good besides that."

"Food was delicious, although the portions smaller that I expected, atmosphere was great, waiter and busboy were attentive 100% of the time and we really enjoyed ourselves. It's not cheap, so I can't afford to go to a place like this with any frequency, but you get what you pay for."

"My wife came here for our Anniversay because I've read many good reviews about the place. Too start off the place is very stunning looking and very romantic atmosphere. We were place in the back and there was one other table of 6 people in the back. They were very loud and thank God they finally left because we were going to change our seats. We had the price fix at $48 which is very reasonable for a place of this stature. Other then the stuff dumplings which were very good, the rest of the meal was okay, nothing special. The biggest problem was the service. It seems the waiter was always on top of us, speeding up our meal every chance he got, including coffee and quickly handed us the check."

"For about a decade now, my husband and I have visited New York twice a year. During our second visit to New York in 2012, Mr Ks was recommended as a dining venue to experience. Suffice it to say, we ate there twice during our weekend stay!
The ambiance is suitable for either an intimate dinner or a greater gathering for a special occasion. And, regardless of the number in the party, service is always stellar.
My husband and I now consider a visit to Mr Ks as a dining tradition."

"It is very nice to find a quiet restaurant in Midtown with outstanding food, ambiance and service. You can have a conversation here, and I would think a great business lunch. Excellent menu and choices. I had Peking Duck which was excellent. Highly recommend the Lover's dumplings also. Just for fun, look at all the famous chopsticks displayed in the lobby."

"Having lived several years in China, I'm not convinced that the food here is entirely authentic. And we did have a bit of trouble getting something as simple as a glass of water. (There are too many staff, each with a "designated job", kind of like union rules in a shipyard!)
We went for "Restaurant Week", mostly because I really wanted to see the inside of this art nouveau landmark. It's over the top and just delightful for those of us who like that style!
It's pricey (probably a bit overpriced for the food & service), but it has an elegance that belongs to a bygone age. Best of all, in this city where eating in even the "best" restaurants is like eating on the floor of the old New York Stock Exchange, it's quiet, refined and relaxin"

"went the for food week nyc. the building is gorgeous & doesn't look like a typical chinese restaurant in the inside. gold utensils and holder, warm towel at start of meal, sorbet entremets were nice. liked the fact there was more protein in out meals than fried rice (ate fire creacker fish, beef and broccoli and some ginger chicken)."

"Elegant bordering on pompous. Service was courteous and efficient, if a bit stuffy. The food was tasty but not subtle. Food pieces were very large making it awkward to use chop sticks. The lunch scene was all business men."

"We ate at Mr. K's a few years ago and food was much better. The restaurant looks dated and could use some new furniture. The food was not as good as you would expect from a NYC restaurant. A lot of the items, such as spring rolls, seemed like they were just heated up from a frozen box. The ginger chicken was good but the lo mein lacked flavor. The icecream was very good. I hope the restaurant can go back to its former glory."

"There was only about 10% of the tables sat on a Friday night at 7:30. Our waiter could not have been more miserable to be there. He was very short with us to the point of rude. However the food was actually really good. To bad I will never go back!"

"This 5-Diamond restaurant is wonderful and has always been a special favorite. It did not disappoint during this visit. The food is always delightful. The best Chinese restaurant ever! Wonderful Peking Duck, Hot & Sour Soup -- and the Firecracker Fish was unbelievably good. Really makes us sad all over again that it is no longer in Washington, DC, but it is not to be missed in NYC."

"Impeccable but yet friendly service. Excellent food. We were able to enjoy the pre fixe lunch and still make it back to work in a very timely manner. They even gave the women delicate flower corsages! Beautiful decor. Rather for the older more sophisticated set."
