"With the coming of a new chef, the quality seems to have gone down. Service is friendly, but that is it. Things were brought to our table that were meant for another table, and our ceviche never showed up, but was on the bill.
The restaurant seems to follow the terrible trend to serve expensive wine in machine made goblets. Even our waiter complained about this and other changes that had happened in the restaurant.
Food was served and the utensils were brought afterwards...breadcrumbs were not cleaned of before the dessert... just a few of the flaws...
Certainly NOT going back!"

"We had a party of four and a 6:30P.M. reservation. The view was great, and during our meal the sun was setting. Our dining experience lasted about 2 hours. We overlooked San Diego bay, with a view of Silver Strand State beach and the Coronado-San Diego bay bridge in the distance. The menu is no longer French cuisine, but a melange of styles, served in a tapas style, where each patron is encouraged to order 3-5 items. The "small" shrimp, duck lollipops, mushroom purses, and "small" dates were quite good. The salads were good, but not novel. The yucca frites are best with the green sauce they are served with. The server was good at explaning the menu. We had dessert, but only one, since we were all pretty full. The creme brulle is good."

"Although, I enjoyed my meal at Mistral. The service passable. The server was pleasnt enough. However, my guest and I often felt as though we were low priority. It seemed to take qutie a bit of time to receive our meals. I must say the lobster bisque I ate at Mistral that evening was by far the worst I had ever tasted. It tasted of burnt butter. Not my idea of an elegant bowl of soup. However, the monkfish, was unforgettable. The waiter was absolutly accurate when he refered to it as the poor mans lobster. Each component of that dish complimented the other very delicious way.
Would I reccomend Mistral? Well, based on my overall experience... Reluctantly. Although, based on my meal... Yes. They excelled in this area."

"The food was amazing. We were there for a conference and enjoyed our first evening there. We opted to have our last meal there. The waiter remembered the wine we had ordered. My husband customized his meal and they came through exactly. Will be back again when in the area"

"I am definitely a foodie and this was one of the best meals ever. Excellent server - Austin. Gave great suggestions for food and wine.
Chef is relocating so not sure if experience with food the same. But the restaurant definitely has high standards for food and service so I would expect so. Well worth the trip to Coronado Island. Also a beautiful hotel/resort. With great views from dining room."

"really great service from top to bottom, and very well managed. Great menu and excellent food...BUT, this is NOT a French restaurant for anyone thinking they are going to a branch of a Parisian restaurant. This is a French influenced California restaurant. Most of the ingredients are California, most of the wines are California, and assuredly the servers are from California. The result, in my opinion, is fabulous, but don't go there with the wrong expectation. I have seen reviews of disappointed patrons who just had no idea where they were going. Appreciate it for what it is and bon appetit!"

"Great wine list. The view is of the Bay and the San Diego to Coronado Bridge. Beautiful at night.

"The food at Mistral is--in the San Diego context--among the best. I adore the panisse. Anything with the flavorful baby vegetables is a must: the beet salad (and I usually don't like beets) the truffled broth with the salmon. The mushroom ravioli is a distillation of incredible flavors. The view of San Diego bay and the bridge is gorgeous."

"It was our first time at Mistral and we loved it! We live in the area but had never been until 2/15/13. We were there in the eveing at the city lights made for a romantic evening. From the moment we arrived we felt special and were treated well by the staff. Our waiter, Daniel, could not have been more knowledgable and friendly. Everything we ate was delicious! We will be back and bring friends for lunch! Recommend this to everyone!"

"We dine at Mistral's about once a month and always enjoy it. We were surprised to hear that Chef Patrick had left and that they have a new chef. Our meals were as good as always and we loved some of Chef Johnny's changes and additions to the menu. He even took the time to come to our table to greet us. Mistral's is as good, or better, than before. The service and food is still exceptional!"

"This is a great restaurant that seems to keep getting even better. The views are magnificent, the room is very attractive and the food is fabulous. No matter what you choose, the dishes shall be creative and tasty. I love scallops and here they are perfect and accompanied by the most remarkable ingredients. My wife had a pork chop, very unusual for her but the description was mouthwatering and the dish itself fabulous. All of this topped off by a most remarkable triple chocolate dessert. Try Mistral, you shall love it."
