"We were very pleased with our experience at Max. When we first walked in it was not busy and for a Saturday evening that was a little concerning. However, the food was spectacular and perfectly prepared. The prices were moderate and the wine list was extensive. The steak my husband had was top quality meat and melted in your mouth. The chef prepared it exactly Med. Rare and when served was still hot. My scallops had a nice sear on the top and were not under or over cooked. I have since already recommended it to many of my friends and co-workers. The ambience was very nice with the decor and music very tasteful. Our server was delightful and very accommodating. We will be back."

"Love this place usually, but definitely not kid friendly. Unexpectedly had two children in our party. But I figured a hotel would be prepared. Marginally so. Children's menu very limited (burgers and chicken fingers). I asked for half order of spaghetti, even if charged whole price. Not possible. No crayons/paper for entertainment. Kids asked for ice cream for dessert ... if waitress had told me dish was THREE scoops, would've ordered one for sharing. Second glass of wine was forgotten. Got a sample gratis once the waitress remembered. Waitress did okay given that she was alone in dining room. Hostess even helped her. Will return but sans kids!"

"Our experience was not good. In an hour of waiting for our food, we managed to get 1 glass of wine and a cup of soup. To get our entrees required intervention from the bar tender. When the food arrived, it was nasty. The chicken pot pie looked like cream of chicken soup under a puff pastry crust. The steak (ordered well done) was past that stage. While we waited for our food, we watched tray after tray of food passing by to other tables. Maybe our experience is not the norm. I complained to the manager on duty who comped the meal and got some food sent up to my room so I would have something to eat for dinner (a cup of soup not being enough). The hotel GM called the next day to follow up so at least I know they care."

"Had the crab cake sandwich - wasn't real impressed. I've had much better in Minneapolis for less money. French fries were excellent. Service was slow, water glasses not refilled until well after emptied."

"This was my 4th time at Restaurant Max and every time I hope for a better experience. The food is ok,skip the fried green tomatoes. They were not hot and lacked flavor. The service is what is disappointing. I think that is managements fault. They clearly are not training people appropriately. For instance, if there is an empy drink glass- ask customer if they would like another. If there are empy plates on the table- clear them before you bring out the next course. There were about 5 tables filled, so there should have been no excuse for the service."

"They had the best salmon I've ever eaten but the grilled shrimp appetizer was lacking. The drinks were good. So were the salads and dessert of salted caramel sundae. It was fabulous."

"Dined on Valentine's evening, they had a special menu made up. It was a complete Surf and Turf price fixed menu for 40 a person. It was dynamite. Ross and Jen were awesome."

"Very busy for lunch - Quieter for dinner - more romantic. The food was very good, portions just the right size - not too huge and not too small. The service was very attentive."
