"My husband and I are real foody. We try all kind of food from all over the world. I had stopped going to Detroit Greek Town because the restaurants were losing losing their authenticity
We decided to go to this new restaurant Detroit Restaurant Week. I ordered a lamb shank dish. It was extremely good. The lamb had the flavor of American Farm raised lamb (The lamb from New Zealand or Australia is too strong for my taste). The portion size was very good. The sides with main entree was also very true to real Greek Food.
We tried the Shrimp appetizer, it was as good as the main entree. The Greek Salad also had its own house made sauce. I like the flavor of Greek olive oil.
I would like to try the restaurant again with my family."

"LOVE this restaurant. Being Greek, we are always searching for the real deal and definitely found it here! The true test is avogolemeno soup which most restaurants serve as a gelatinous bowl of goo. Santorini executes perfectly on this delicate soup. We asked our waiter (Greek) for an off menu combination of food, plated for the three of us. He was happy to oblige and everything was absolutely outstanding! Pastichio and Moussaka were both heavenly as was lamb shank and dolmathes. FIVE STARS! Oh, on ambiance - toooo bright in there. Could be much cozier with proper lighting."

"I picked this restaurant from a review website for a group of friends to have dinner at. Everyone loved the food and the atmosphere. I even had to change our reservation to add a couple and it was not a problem. I will go back here next time I am in Downtown Detroit."

"The restaurant is located in a street full of many other greek restaurants. However, of all restaurants, Santorini is the one that stands out. The interior of the restaurant is clearly visible to all that walk by. THe decoration and colors are very appealing and that was one of the reasons that my friend and I thought of trying eating there. The menu is perfect for anyone wanting to try this type of food. The experience was so pleasant, we did not want to leave."

"We were a little disapointed, we had made a reservation and did not expect to be seated in the overflow room, it is not part of the main dining room and lacks the atmosphere of being in fine dining restaurant feels more like a family restaurant.
Waiter was OK, I beleive he had to shuffle back and forth from the main room to our back room and he was never in view so if you wanted something you had to get up and head into the main room.
The person who brought the food to the back room had no clue where anything went my food ended up on the table next to us for 2 or 3 minutes before they figured it out. Did not take the food back but gave me the plate that the person at the other table had poked at before realizing it wasn't his."

"We had a wonderful experience at Santorini. The decor is stunning and it seemed very clean. The service was good; I didn't give them a "5" because we waited a long time to pay for our dinner. But, our waiter was an attentive, handsome Greek so we didn't mind much. The spinach salad and lemon rice soup were both really, really divine. The side salads were generously portioned and all the food I sampled was really tasty and didn't seem like typical chain restaurant meals at all. I will go back."

"The restaurant is quite pretty. When the weather is nice, they open the walls to Monroe and the atmosphere is welcoming. The service is slow which is surprising since they have a lot of staff, but they are all running around but our waitress kept disappearing. We saw two guys literally take 20 minutes to cover and recover a table nearby with paper table covering while we just sat and waited without food! The food was good, but inconsistent. For example serving appetizer dips without pita ( pita costs extra). We got bread and olive oil right away but when we used up the oil, no one ever asked us if we wanted or needed more. With a little work, it could be a better restaurant choice in a crowded Greek food area."

"We ordered from the restaurant week menu and were not especially impressed. The lamb entree was very fatty. The rib eye was good and so was the vegetable moussaka. Everything else was tasty. It was very busy and loud- a little difficult to converse. Would like to go back and try the regular menu."

"Santorini is a good Greek restaurant, but I think it will struggle to distinguish itself in Greektown. The food is probably a step up from the famous old Greektown hotspots, and the price is two steps up. The real problem is that I -- like many Detroiters -- have grown up loving the no frills style of Greek food that is common along Monroe Street. To differentiate their fare, Santorini is adding a few frills that work (the citrus vodka sauce to top their fish is outstanding) and some that are just frilly (the lentil soup would have been fine without the meatballs).
If you have a few extra bucks in your pocket from the casino, you'll enjoy the food here. If you're down a few, you'll not miss too much with simpler food down the street."

"My night started going bad after drinking from my glass and feeling a pinch on my lip from the broken glass. I let the waiter know the glass was chipped and to replace my drink, she brought a new one in a glass with lipstick. I was almost scared to get another one, because that proved that you don’t wash the dishes thoroughly, but then another one of my party guest was treated rudely when attempting to return a drink I decided that I would be better off taking my chances with the third drink. With the third one, instead of it being broken where my lips go, it was broken at the base (not classy at all). For this to be a restaurant that is representing the best of Detroit for restaurant week, I definitely wasn’t impressed. Needless to say I w"

"My friend and I tried Santorini during restaurant week. Santorini exceeded our expectations. The restaurant had a great vibe, the service was outstanding, and the food was excellent. I had the lentil salad to start and it was outstanding - so fresh and tasty. The salmon was delicious, but my friend's lamb chops were better. The potato and mushroom mash was one of the best things I have ever tasted. Our waiter was attentive without hovering. Overall it was a great experience and I will be going back."

"Santorini is now what used to be Moasic. The interior is beautiful, the service very good, but some of our dishes were a bit disappointing. This being a Greek themed restaurant, "Santorini", several of us ordered the lamb. It proved to be flavorful, but contained a lot of fat on the cut. This made it less appetizing than it should have been. The location in Greektown is very nice with an energetic feel. Parking at the Greektown Casino for free is nice perk. I would give Santorini another try when it is not Detroit Restaurant Week. They seemed to be a bit off their game."

"The food was less than stellar; ambiance and decor was very nice and appealing. If the food was 1/2 as good as the furnishings then they would have had a gem. Lamb was way too well done, server never asked how I would like it prepared, but brought out an over cooked greasy plate of tasteless food. I was very unimpressed. Ordered from Detroit Restaurant Week menu- split pea salad was awful, lamb was over cooked and greasy, the doughnut with honey was THE best item I was served and/or ordered at the restaurant. My drink, a margarita, was nice and strong. I would not be back for their menu but possibly happy hour. Not a fan of Santorini, the old Mosaic."

"I enjoyed my visit to Santorini. The decor is much lighter and warm than it was when it was Mosaic. This is the type of place where it's great to order a couple of appetizers and a couple of entrees, and split and share. We had saganaki, shrimp with peppers, and then shared two entrees. One was the veggie trio, and the other was phylo wrapped shrimp. All was very good - the Moussaka was done lighter than traditional greek restaurants, and was delicious. They have a nice wine and cocktail selection. I would definitely come back!"

"Went there for the resturaunt week menu. Everything aside from the un-interested server was great! My food was timely and amazing. The server did barely made his presence known, so getting drinks wasn't easy, but would definitely dine there again!"

"We were in town for a conference and went during Detroit Restaurant Week. The service and food were all very good. No issues with getting separate checks and we were not forced into an 18% gratuity which probably resulted in better tips for our waiter. We were able to make a reservation thought OPen Table and were seated promptly when we arrived. Will definetly come back when I am in Detroit. Also, great location, right across the street from the Greektown People Mover station."

"Our server was extremely attentive in the beginning but towards the end of service, we couldn't find him. The food was very well spiced but the cuts of the prime rub and lamb were extremely fatty, almost 40% of the protein was in edible. I consider myself a bit of a foodie was disappointed in the lack of care with the ingredients. I will have to say the dessert was absolutely wonderful. I would go back for drinks and dessert only."

"Service was fast. Food came out very fast. We felt rushed. It was Detroit Restaurant Week. So, they were very busy and wanted to turn the table quickly. I chose from the DRW menu- yet, i may have been cheaper ordering off the main menu. The food was good. Portions were a fair size. I would go back."

"Open table should change the cuisine type on its website. Currently Santorini is listed as American. Not at all! Go there if you want authentic Greek and some Mediterranean food. It's new and clean and everything is fresh."

"Design and Decor of Restaurant is very nice! But unfortunately, the quality of the food was very disappointing...I am a Greek who frequented the previous establishment and was always satisfied with the quality and taste of the food. Despite my optimism Santorini's new chef lacks good sense of seasonings...and most importantly the use of quality ingredients (for example, my green beans were prepared using frozen beans). I hope my review is helpful and reaches the owners who will improve the menu..."

"We had been to the former Mosaic and thought with the reopening it would be better than before. I had requested the Sea Bass off the menu, they were out...not sure how that happens on one of your largest crowds of the year of Opening Day for the Tigers. The vegetables that accompined the meals we cafeteria grade, at a fine dining restaurant, I would have expected fresh. Our other meals were not fine dining either, pre-cooked and warm up is what my guests thought.
The music was way to loud for the diners to have a decent conversation, when addressed to our server, he seem to be not concerned, when the manager came over, all he did was excuse it as once a year they have a DJ."

"I liked the lighter interior. I had the appetizer special of beet greens and beets with olive oil and vinegar. Glad I took our servers advice to try - it was delicious. Feta cheese on Greek salad was wonderful. The tzatziki sauce with my Gyros was the best I've ever had. Server was attentive and friendly. Definitely will return."

"it was our 20th anniversary and we wanted to go somewhere special for dinner, my wife was reading the hour magazine and read an article on a restaurant in greektown, so we made reservations since we have traveled to santorini,everything was great, the waiter was very attentive, the food delicious and hot, would highly recomend satorini as a restaurant to try"

"Great whole Banzinio at a very reasonable price. Many restaurants charge $40 for this entree. Santorini was $25 for a huge fish. I had it served whole (head and tail) but they will fillet it at your table. Prepared to perfection."
