The Golden Steer Steak House was founded in 1958. Since the beginning, The Golden Steer Steak House has prided itself on serving USDA Prime Aged, Corn Fed Beef. The best available in the United States, with quality prime steaks and memorable seafood. "Yes, our reservation was at 22h00 but if that was going to be a problem it should have been noted on the web site. We arrived to receive the warning from our waiter that the kitchen was going to close in 30 minutes. 4 of our 7 person party had not yet arrived. In any case, we ordered items that could be quickly prepared and served so serving was not a problem, but having that ticking clock over our head was. The wait staff appeared accustomed to dictating the hours of service and how things should go. The correct attitude for a party of 7 should have been, "We do close at 23h00 but take your time, you are our guests and we know you have come a long way to eat at our restaurant." What we got was our waiter telling us to "Hurry up!""

"I have been there three times and I just cannot bring myself to order anything other than the prime rib. It is off the charts! I have been there with friends and clients and they were completely satisfied with the other dishes as well. I an just a creature of habit. I go there for prime rib its the best I have had bar none."

"We went to this restaurant for my husband's 70th birthday. The place was as pricey as Ruth Chris or Morton's, minus the great food and service. Baked potato was too hard on the bottom to cut, steak was a little too well done. Service was slow. Much better value and service on the strip. We were disappointed."

"I took my husband here for his birthday and we loved it the moment we walked in!! Great service and the food was outstanding...but the best part was the ambiance!!! If you like Sinatra, Martin and Davis...well this is the place to go as it is surrounded in memorabilia from that era. There was music playing the whole time and it was just a relaxing and fun experience. Our meal...the petite filet and lobster was outstanding...but too much food...so next time we'll definitely share something. It can be a bit pricey but well worth the extra cost. We'll definitely be back!! They even called us a cab when we were ready to leave!"

"It was a great night with awesome food and a side show and everyone will probably know what we are talking about. Everyone handled it very courteously. We had a great server and great patrons with a sense of humor. The food was excellent as usual and very prompt. We couldn't stay for the end of the show, but hope everything turned out OK. We didn't see anything on the news so we assumed all was well. You have a great staff. We will be back for the holidays and our anniversary for sure!"

"Visited the Golden Steer for our wedding anniversary. Although the service was somewhat slow, the food was absolutely EXCELLENT! We are still talking about how delicious, flavorful, and tender the filet was. We have eaten many filets at many fine restaurants and the Golden Steer's filet was, by far, the best we have had. All of the food was excellent, from the mixed green salads, to the warm french bread, to the baked potato and filet. We are already looking forward to a return visit. Don't be fooled by the exterior or the poor parking situation; making it inside to eat the food is well worth the trouble to get past the parking, inside the doors, and to your booth!"

"The expression goes....."you only get one shot at making a good impression" Well the hostess at the Golden Steer set the stage for the beginning of a wonderful dining experience. Rika greeted us when we entered and her smile lit up the room. She could not have been more accommodating and gracious. She is a true asset and ambassador for the Steer. We decided to have a cocktail at the bar and Rika held our table until we were ready all the while checking on our well being. We sat down and Fabian the waiter was a true gem. His level of service coupled with Cliff simply added to the fantastic experience had by the four of us. Even the busser, Joseph exceeded our expectations with service. The Golden Steer is simply the best"

"I have visited the Golden Steer many times over the last 15+ years and have thought highly of the food and service. Each time I have brought 6-8 people. On April 24th, I was shocked regarding the poor service of our waiter. He was neither friendly or attentive. As an example, we continually had to ask for wine to be poured and he never once asked anyone in my party of 6 if the food was ok once it was served. When leaving the restaurant, I discussed my concerns with the manager at that time. At the time she obtained my name, phone number, and e-mail and assured me that someone would promptly get back to me. It is now April 29th and I have not heard from anyone."

"The atmosphere was a little noisy but that is to be expected in a popular restaurant. Every meal is a la carte which makes the meal a little pricey, although you do get an abundance of food. One would definitely not leave hungry. The prime rib is delicious and at 18oz is a killer. Every staff member was courteous and friendly. This is definitely a restaurant I would patronize again."

"I have spent a lot of time in Las Vegas, and I've never eaten in a better steak house than the Golden Steer. You can't replicate the authentic atmosphere and impeccable service levels in any of the newer places in town. The steaks are perfect, the sides are amazing (creamed corn!!!) and I love the old school (more like traditional in this place)table side salad preparation. This is a place to drink in the experience. Put on a tie cause it feels right, get a reservation for later in the evening, get one of the corner booths if you can and then sit back and enjoy."

"My parents first took us 30 plus years ago as they had found the restaurant on one of their jaunts to Vegas. We held their 53rd wedding anniversary dinner there and as always not disappointed. It might appeal to the "old" vegas crowd more than the new but it is a great place to dine. The staff are awesome, the service is great and the food as always was tremendous. They make the best table side ceasar salad this side of the rockies!"

"Although we had an early reservation to celebrate a birthday which they recognized upon the arrival, it appreared the staff was standing around awaiting the rush. Everyone very friendly and nice however, excluded the bartender in the outer room.
Food was very good and the portions were plentiful. My disappointment was in the lack of recognition of the event. After spending close to $300 for two people I at least expected a cupcake with a candle. Didn't happen.
We're locals and would we go back? Maybe...maybe not"

"Truly excellent old fashioned steak house.The food and service were excellent. Steak was perfect, properly done with just the right amount of char. Drinks were good at a fair price, oysters on half shell very fresh and well priced, jumbo prawn coctail and chocolate cake and port all very good.
Will certainly go back when I am in Las Vegas again."

"Went there due to great reviews by the local newspaper but found the place tired-looking and noisy. There are many great steakhouses in Las Vegas but this did not make the top of our list by any means. The strip steak had too much grizzle that should have been cut away, the crab legs were fine, the onion soup was OK but had too much cheese on it. The vegetables were fresh and good"

"When its been 30 years since you last visited a restaurant you expect some changes. The Golden Steer was at least as good as we remembered from our first date. My filet was cooked to (medium rare) perfection. The twice baked potato was as light, and flavorful (was that a hint of bacon?) As any I've had. My wife's Salmon (I know, fish?) Was equally flavorful and though the dill cream sauce was a bit more than she liked she reports it was excellent, allowing the Salmon flavor to come through. Her broccolli side was also crisp and flavorful, not cooked to near mush like some places provide. Shared Creme Brulee for dessert. Perfect. Service was attentive without being over-bearing and finally, our host (owner?) Was most gracious."

"A splendid trip back to the fifties and early sixties where you would swear that Frank, Joey, Sammy, Peter, and Dean were sitting in a booth across the way. The hostess was super sweet, and made us feel instantly at ease. After we were seated, the experience ended. The Maitre d' was not very pleasant, and our waiter made mistake after mistake. He spilled our water, broke the cork off in the wine bottle, spilled the wine, and even spilled the contents of our entrée on the table as he set down the plates. My steak was disappointing.... flavorless and tough, and I finally just gave up and we left. Go for the atmosphere, not the food."

"My wife and I have been coming to the Golden Steer for many years. Our experience has always been exceptional. The food is incredibly delicious and the staff goes to the utmost extreme to ensure your dining experience is exceptional. When one thinks of fine dining, the Golden Steer should be the first thought with its rich wood paneling, linen table cloths and napkins, low lights, and relaxed atmosphere with Frank and the boys singing softly in the background. One could be easily transported back to a long gone era. My wife and I travel quite a bit and know class and elegance when we see it and this is definitely CLASS AND ELEGANCE AT ITS BEST."

"If you are looking for old Vegas - the really cool one where Frank, Sammy and Dean hung out in red leather booths, sipped martinis and ate steak - the one that is rapidly disappearing amongst the giant corporate hotels - then Golden Steer is for you. It isn't cheap, but it is worth it."

"Highly anticipated but mediocre experience. Highlights were the table side caesar salad. Overpriced $50 steaks that could have been spent elsewhere. Service on a slow Saturday evening was lackluster. Drinks were forgotten and soda was flat. Definitely a "one and done" experience."
