Consuelo Mexican Bistro features a traditional and diverse Mexican cuisine. The complex flavors from the kitchen are complimented with creative drinks, selected Tequilas, beer and wine from the bar. The decor matches that found in Mexico City's cantinas in the early 1900's. Bienvenido a Consuelo Mexican Bistro y buen provecho!
"We like the food at Consuelo's. But the last two times that we ate there we felt rush with the food. We ordered appetizers and maybe after two minutes that we got the appetizers we also got the main courses. If this supposed to be a Mexican Restaurant it needs to relax a bit. Pace your food so people can enjoy it better."

"I've been to Consuelos several times and always had a great meal. This time, was not the same , unfortunately. I brought my friend for her birthday, on May 6th. Our chicken enchiladas had dried hard chicken inside. We sent it back & ordered something else. Her pile off carnitas was so cold it seemed as if they got it out of the frig & put it on a plate w/o heating it. The plantains & Mexican chocolate cake were delicious. I guess it was an off day, but. It was for her birthday..,"

"When we arrived on Tues. I told the girl seating us the reservation was on Open Table. She looked at me like she had no idea what I was talking about. On the way to the table I told her to contact Open Table and let them know we did indeed keep the reservation. She again just gave me a blank stare. I checked the next AM and found Pending by our reservation. I called the restaurant and asked for someone who knew how to handle Open Table. I got Jose who was very nice and said he would try confirm our presence but he was new and wasn't sure what to do but he would call. We received credit on Thursday PM."

"Noise level is loud; food quality is good but portions are small. Surprising since I last visited the restaurant a couple of years ago when in town for business the portions were larger. Wouldn't make a special trip again for dinner. It was "ok" but nothing special."

"it was Cinco de Mayo & the restaurant was very busy, crowded & noisy, which is to be expected. We had a 1:15 reservation & were seated right away at a nice booth. The only problem was that we went there specifically for brunch & were very disappointed to find out they weren't serving it because of the holiday. If that was the case they should've changed their website that said they were serving brunch on Sundays from 11:00 until 3:00. if we had known it wasn't brunch we would've gone elsewhere. Otherwise it was a fine experience."

"I have been to Consuelo's on a number of occasions. This time the service was really slow even though we were there on Wednesday at 6:30. The food seems to have taken a step downward from my previous visits. On a previous visit, the salmon chimichanga was excellent; however, this time, the puff pastry was thick and there was very little sauce. Likewise, the Carnitas was great in the. past visits; but, this time it was dry. The best dish of the night was the shrimp wrapped in bacon with a Chipotle sauce."

"This Santana Row restaurant has very good food and service. On a warm day outdoor seating along the Row is most enjoyable, as diners can watch hundreds of shoppers. While a bit pricey, this is definitely a restaurant that I would recommend."

"We tend to head to Consuelo's for table side guacamole and margaritas often but on this trip the staff tripped things up. The guacamole was fine, as expected, but the margaritas were a bit off as my wife ordered a special version, at the recommendation of our waiter, and it came with some spicy "salt" and without the advertised grand marnier "float". To add insult to injury, the wait staff brought out chips with our guacamole which we thought was a nice addition to the traditional tortillas served at Consuelo's. Well, as it turns out, the chips are not a new feature but an additional item for purchase (just $3!) so while quite good and perfect with their guacamole, padding our check without permission is just wrong. Transparency please."
