"I think the food just keeps getting better at this restaurant. Our server John was outstanding. He was professional, very pleasant, knowledgeable and attentive. Our food was expertly prepared and beautifully presented. There were only a couple of small snafus. There was no soy milk for one of the diners at our table who had ordered coffee and who can't have dairy and I was told that the waiter had to "find" honey for my tea. We were having such a nice experience that this didn't really bother us but we had a chuckle at the irony. I think Wegmans has done an outstanding job and I look forward to dining there again soon."

"We requested one of the smaller rooms as the main dining are can get a bit loud - all was in place and the service was on point. The room we were in was beautifully appointed and the atmosphere was perfect. The food was delicious as it has been in the past - top quality seafood and steaks. The wine was delicious."

"We have been to Next Door Bar & Grill twice and it is well worth it. True to form, when the Wegman family does something, they do it right. The menu was large and diverse enough to have provide several acceptable choices.
The only negative is the noise level. The main dining room was full and quite noisy. We asked to be seated in the quieter dining room, which the hosted very politely did. The noise is not enough of a deterrent to keep people from trying Next Door."

"One of my favorite spots in Rochester!!! However, I was a bit disappointed with the menu changes, as more than a few of my favorites were gone. I also wasn't crazy with the explanation that it was to provide healthier choices?? Honestly? I would have preferred to hear that some items just weren't that popular. I felt like it was the government chosing my meals for me (like the big gulp fiasco in nyc or posting of nutritional value at fast food restaurants). That said, there are many more reasons for me to return to Next Door - great food, impeccable service, wonderful wines ...."

"service at next door is always excellent. the food is usually right on. As was the asparagus/crab soup. Tried the burgers for the first time which were good, not outstanding. Unfortunately the dessert this time really missed the mark. Sounded like it would be great but cheesecake was overcooked, great presentation but fell flat.

"The entrance was a bit on the dark side. The greeter did not seem as attentive as I would have expected. The matre d' did her job in an efficient and helpful manner (asked for and immediately received reseating next to prep area.) The water server was friendly, prompt and perfectly attentive to water glass needs. The meal server was friendly, efficient and more than helpful ( I had a special request for smoked oysters and the server obtained a prompt answer on my request.) The server's patience and timing was very much on mark according to my parties' meal pace. The appy came well within a convenient time frame. The appy plate take-away was right on time; not too soon nor too late after the appy was finished. The main meal was ontime"

"Our party of 4 requested one of the smaller side rooms for dinner as the main dining room can become too noisy for conversation in a group. We were thrilled with our service and each of us raved about the food choices. The farm fresh egg on polenta with kale sauce was heaven, as was the salmon. No salmon anywhere could have been cooked as perfectly as Next Door! No wonder we return again and again."

"This restaurant was good when it opened, but has gotten even better! The mixed drinks at the bar change regularly, but they know their guest's favorites and keep those on the menu. The dining room is great with the options of eating at the prep kitchen and watching the chefs, a semi-private dining room with a large table for groups, the test kitchen, and the main dining room. The servers are professional, knowledgeable, and attentive. The food was fantastic! I had the house-made fettuccine and my husband had the black bass. Both meals were excellent and very much enjoyed.
This is a great place for a night out, to meet friends for drinks, or to celebrate a special occasion. Our experience was one of the best in Rochester!"

"Our server was excellent- friendly, informative, timely. The food was great- creative selections skillfully crafted from high quality ingredients.
Unfortunately, the ambiance was crummy where we were seated--we were in a little side room that was setup like your own dining room, replete with a large dining room style table and three tiny little tables (one of which we were seated at). It felt like everyone was on top of each other and there was no privacy/intimacy. Not good ambiance. The rest of the restaurant is very cool. They could restyle this room with high-back chairs instead of the giant dining room table to create more private feeling personal nooks. Who really wants to be seated at a giant living room table on top of strange"

"The chef is trying too hard. The presentation of the food was much better than the taste. Beautiful presentation with colorful and varied ingredients that did not combine to enhance each other. A bit like listening to an orchestra and a beautiful opera singer at Lincoln Center, but the singer is singing Motzart and the orchestra is playing Beethoven."

"My husband and I were seated right away at a table for two by the sushi bar. The restaurant was not busy for a Saturday night The tables were so close that the waitress next to us kept squeezing between the two tables so that her back side was touching our table. This was not appetizing nor a pretty site!
We ordered the salads, my field green (looked like they opened a bag of Wegmans precut salad and poured a little dressing on it) was mediocre at best. My husbands Watercress Salad was delicious but small in portion. For our entree we both had the"Bouley" Burger and Frites. The fries were so salty I asked the waitress if could have some unsalted. She was very nice and brought them quickly.
Over all, very disappointed."

"Complimentary valet and coat service was very start to entrance of the restaurant. Bartender was welcoming, helpful and attentive. We were seated within 5 mintues of our reservaiton time, we had arrived about 30 mintues early to enjoy a drink at the bar first. The waitress was attentive and accomodating for the gluten free member of our party. The food presentation was beautiful, and menu selection varied enough for many tastes. Prices were medium high ($$$) but we expected that. My only complaint was with what I ordered, the black bass, I am very familiar with bass but this dish came with a foam on the plate which put me off right away because of the smell, I was pure sea, and not in a good way. I really couldn't eat it all."

"Good but it is a very pricey menu. Drinks are expensive. The menu used to feature more tapas style dining and mini tastings and it seems they are getting away from that which I think is a shame. I would recommend going for Happy Hour which is 4-6pm Monday through Friday."

"interior decor is creative, a wonderful composition of modern urban and rustic earthy wood. Beauty and the Beast would both feel at home here. The wait staff was attentive, quick, friendly and professional. The food was well prepared and delicious though a bit expensive....would prefer more dollups of things and fewer dots and smears of things ( from a Texas cattleman's perspective) . overall, the experience was really enjoyable and i can't wait for the next opportunity to go back. Kudos Wegmans!"

"Service was excellent, staff very friendly. We enjoyed wonderful appetizers, the Bacon Risotto was fantastic. I was impressed they brought out Gluten Free muffins for me without prompting, I had eaten there previously and noted my dietary preferences and they read the profile notes from the prior visit! Every effort was made to make sure I had a gluten free experience and still a wonderful meal. I love that the restaurant includes many organic items as well. Menu choices are inventive and tasty."

"I was anticipating a fantastic experience at Next Door Bar and Grill as many of my friends had recommended it as a great place here in Rochester. We were seated immediately, and the service at our table was quick and efficient. Two of the four members of our party are "picky" eaters, prefering rather plain dishes to anything too unique. It was very tough for them to find something on the menu here. Although the dishes ordered were very good in flavor, it seemed as though serving sizes were very small for the menu pricing.
All in all a dissapointment, and unless I become wealthy, I won't be back."

"I went there recently to celebrate a birthday and had a great experience. The food was amazing, staff was excellent as well. I would definitely recommend this place. Don't skip the dessert either!"

"Upscale, modern decor, bar separate from dining areas. We sat in the large open dining area, but there were smaller side rooms available for a more intimate experience. There were also seats available at the sushi bar and many seats had a great view of the kitchen & prep area. The menu is sufficiently varied in both selection and price. Wine list is quite large, but I was happy to find a very nice selection of craft beers as well.
Servings are appropriately proportioned, and the pace of serving good. My Long Island Duck and my wife's Day Lobster Were both delicious. Looking forward to going again to try some of the other menu items."
