"Delicious pastas and pizzas. The caesar salad was great but on the small side. Other appetizers (olives and hamachi sashimi) were shockingly tiny-size for the price. Generous wine pours and friendly service almost made up for the ripoff on the starters. Worth going to if you are in HMB. The homemade pastas are really good."

"We arrived ~45 min. early for our 7pm reservation. But it wasn't too busy, so we ordered drinks & waited ~5 min. to be seated. I was a bit disappointed in our table. It was off to the side & noisy since we were against a draped half-wall w/a noisy service hall on the other side. We started w/mussels. They were small, but fresh. Would have preferred sans frits since they were overpowering/annoying piled on top of the mussels. We then had the smoked trout salad which was delightful! Finally, we shared a pizza. At first the server was a bit reluctant to have the kitchen make a 1/2 &1/2 pizza, but they did & it was very good! We will probably return, however, if we could have our way, they wouldn't charge $10 for well drinks & $20 corkage fee."

"A memorable dinner started with PEI mussels & shoestring french fries and a perfectly balanced broth, Caesar salad (not sure why we have to keep anchovies in big chunks, do people really not understand anchovies are essential to Caesar salad?), and a nicely prepared Negroni. The wine list is a bit eccentric (can't we at least have California versions of Italian wines in addition to the Italian ones?) but good choices by the glass were uncovered. The lamb shank special is one of the best I've ever had (and I've had a lot). Unfortunately, the halibut special was not as fresh as it could be, although the risotto was exceptional. The grilled asparagus was perfect. The Meyer lemon dessert was amazing and highly recommended. Very fun food!"

"If you do nothing else while in Half Moon Bay, you must dine at Pasta Moon. They make all their pasta fresh daily. It doesn't matter what you order from the menu - you'll love it. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. We never visit Half Moon Bay without stopping in."

"As usual our food was very good and we continue to enjoy the ambiance at Pasta Moon. While waiting for our table though, the three of us sat at the bar in hopes of ordering a cocktail. We sat and sat while the two bartenders took orders and served others. The head bartender treated us as if we weren't there! Finally, the assistant helped us, but was so busy he had two errors in our order. For a busy Saturday evening, a second professional grade bartender would have helped."

"Heard great things about this place prior. We also heard great things about It's Italia down the street. We kept going back and forth as to which restaurant to choose because we only had one night. What a great choice. Service was excellent. Thin crust pizza was incredible. We were told to split the house famous lasagne because the portions were large but that is not true. While it is bigger that a single portion, it's not enough for two adults. It was amazing still. Gelato was a great way to finish the meal. We were very happy this was our choice."

"We had one of best meals that I can remember at Pasta Moon. Our waiter, Matt, was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Their steamed mussels are now on my last meal list. I don't usually order lasagne because I make my own, but somehow it was calling me. I ordered the smaller portion and still had 1/2 leftover for lunch the next day. It reminded me of my grandmother's! My husband's smoked trout salad was very good along with the spaghetti puttanesca.
The bartender made a suggestion for a Pinot Grigio that wasn't on the menu---and it was perfect. I'm only sorry that I didn't ask for the spelling of the winery.

"Our first time to Half Moon Bay, we relied on Open Table and other reviews to pick this charming restaurant. There were four of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food, wine and ambience. We shared a pizza to start, then shared two salads, and each got a pasta. The lamb sausage pasta was the standout, but the linguini and crab, pappardelle, and lasagna was also excellent. The gelato and espresso dessert was the perfect way to end the meal. There was a nice selection of Italian wines and the Nebbiola we chose was perfect with our food. We will return if we are back in Half Moon Bay."

"What a gem of a find! Dinner was outstanding...my taste buds peaked with one of the day's specials, pasta with seared (to perfection) scallops, slivered asparagus, smoked prosciutto, zest end lemon and garlic. I only shared a few bites with my husband, I wanted this all to myself. As for dessert, it was outstanding the Italian lemon parfait. This is definitely on my list of favorites. "Food was good, but pasta serving was small for the price. Ambiance was quiet and romantic, but service was disappointing. Towards the end of our meal, we spilled wine on the table and the waiter did not remove the paper table cover. "We are regulars and love love this place, but for some reason (and everyone has bad days) both the service and the quality of the food fell short for us. Our service was entirely too long - we arrived for a 5:30 reservation and didn't leave until close to 8pm and we weren't lingering. We found ourselves waiting and looking around. Also some of the dishes we normally order just didn't have the same taste and flair as before. Not sure if its a new chef or if they've changed their recipes. But we'll go back because it could've been a bad day."

"I made reservations for my husband's birthday - and was a little disappointed in Pasta Moon's delivery. On arrival - we waited for quite some time for someone to even acknowledge us. Their idea of helping me celebrate his birthday consisted of delivering a small plate with one lit candle on it - and nothing else. While we got a good laugh about it being the lowest calorie celebration possible - it was a light in the actual celebration department. The food was good - overly rich for how we eat these days. I'd probably find a different place to celebrate in the future - for far less $$."

"Pasta Moon never ceases to please the palate. To start, we ordered the butternut squash ravioli which were little pillows of perfection. We also had the homemade sausage pizza which was cooked to the right crispness. I wish we had ordered 2 of everything as the starters left you wanting more! When the entrees arrived, one of our guests enjoyed her linguine topped with halibut while a couple of us enjoyed the linguine special topped with crab and chervil, and the gentlemen at our table enjoyed the fall-off the bone lamb shanks served with vegetable risotto. Everyone enjoyed their entrees and we just had enough room for mango panacotta and butterscotch pudding. What a perfect way to end a perfect meal..."

"This is the second time my husband and I have been to Pasta Moon. It is a drive for us but so worth it. The food is home made and so delicious. Everything about Pasta Moon is perfect. I cannot judge the bar scene or the wine list (although I am sure they are just fine)because I don't partake and don't want a dui. I am thinking this is a 50 mile drive round trip."

The menu featured fresh, seasonal, sustainable & local foods prepared with care & creativity. Everything was delicious.
