"The Caesar salad was a chunk of lettuce with the salmon. It was good but a bit unappetizing. The food is usually creative. We cannot say that it was bad but rather basic."

"Went for a breakfast business meeting since it is one of the only places around Penn Station I really like for that sort of thing. However it turns out only one portion of the restaurant is available that early in the day and the tables are all two tops. My meeting was with two other people and the small tables made it difficult to really relax. Also, the morning hostess had quite an attitude on her. Will hesitate to do breakfast there again due to this. Looking for a restaurant able to understand and work with the needs of its patrons and not cop an attitude."

"This place in convenient to penn station and MSG so if you need to grab a bite... food is decent and service was good. The down side is that it is too noisy. You can't have a conversation without yelling. For dinner and quiet conversation, go somewhere else."

"The manager's service was very good. An error to our reservation was handled professionally and we were accommodated without being made to feel like idiots. The waiter service was just adequate: 5 plates of food arrived at once at our table for two, which was awkward, having ordered the charcuterie platter (which comes on two large plates), a fried calamari, a salad and another appetizer. Drinks for each of us were served separately, twice. Weird...4 trips the waiter made to the bar, for two rounds of drinks. The food was quite good, a bit pricey for the portion size, but, hey, that's the price of real estate across from MSG. We would absolutley return!"

"Great quick dinner before the Fleetwood Mac concert at MSG. I let the sever know we were in a rush, the manager came over and took our order and food was there in 6 minutes. Mushroom pizza, and 2 salads (Beet and Tuna Shashimi) Remarkable and delicious."

"I like this restaurant but I wish the management were better. The GM stands around looking annoyed most of the time and they seem to make an extra effort to be UNaccommodating to guests- "frequent diners" are no exception. Went on a lovely day and despite at least 6 empty tables out front they wouldn't sit them because they were being held for larger parties (larger of 4 vs 2) or reservations- that would be understandable had not several of them remained open and empty at any given time throughout our 90 minute lunch. It really left a sour taste."

"Our experience was fair at best. The service was attentive and efficient. My wife and I both had pizzas and were very disappointed. They were dry as cardboard and tasteless. If you expect sauce on the pizza you will be disappointed. Our friends were very disappointed with the Beef Carpacio appetizer but said the salmon entre was good. Lugo is a great place for drinks before an event at the Garden, but I would pass on eating here."

"Being that I am hearing impaired, your Host really took care of me seating us away from the bar. Our waitress was the best, very friendly and attended to all of our need. I wish I could remember her name. We have had dinner there before, always a good experience. We'll be back!!!"

"We were a group of four at an early dinner. A group of men nearby were somewhat loud and the nose level seemed louder even though the restaurant was pretty empty....so, what does that mean for when it's full? Mostly, our food was ok. The steaks were liked. The shrimp/pasta special was indelible and had to be returned. The chicken parmigiana was so-so. The waitress left out her warmth that day....brightening up only after she saw her tip."

"Perfect place to mingle after a hard day at work. For my group it was a perfect place after a day at Madison Square Garden. The food was good and the atmosphere was energetic and lively. A great New York establishment."

"Perfect lunch for busy business people or a great dinner before an MSG event - biggest problem is the sounds level is crazy. Having a normal conversation is virtualy impossible."

"We arrived around 7pm on a Friday night with our elderly parent. The waitstaff and hosts were very accommodating with finding a quiet-ish table for us and with our parent's dietary needs. The after-work crowd left by 8 and we had the place pretty much to ourselves. The food was delicious. A real find in the Madison Square Garden area (right across the street)."

"Chosen for its proximity to Madison Square Garden. Good Italian food - Decent wine selection - Reasonable prices - Excellent service. Something for everyone in our group, even the picky eaters. Wild mushroom pizza and the crispy baby artichokes with tangy lemon aioli were a hit with our group. I especially liked the orecchiette with sausage and broccoli rabe. However, wished that linguine could have been available instead of the very thick spaghetti."

"Nice place Not as comfortable as I would have liked. Ok if dining alone. I ordered the vegtable soup which was good but the three veggies I had were served cold and I thought they would be warm That was dissapointing but my fault. The place was very noisy and so it was tough to have a conversation. I would go back-- its a good choice in the penn station area if you are looking for a decent meal at a good price."

"Very enjoyable. Other restaurants near MSG tend to have bar food or steaks. Lugo's has a variety of reasonably-priced choices. Service was excellent- friendly and helpful."

"I had been to Lugo before and enjoyed the experience but not this time. I had asked for Spaghetti with tomato sauce without cheese. The waitress said there was only some cheese on top but it turned out the cheese was part of the sauce. As they were closing I decided to not make a fuss. On a positive note my friend's food was fine. The waitress however was surly and after taking our order never appeared at our table again. They were open on Sunday due to a game at Madison Square Garden, maybe that's why."

"Our server was non-existent for the first 15 minutes we were at our table. I had to ask another server to take our drink orders. One of the hot appetizers ordered arrived lukewarm. 3 of us got a pasta dish with pesto sauce: way too much sauce as it drowned the pasta and you couldn't even taste the shrimp as it was overpowered by the pesto. 2 of us didn't even care to finish the dish. Ideal location for an event at Madison Square Garden, but I wouldn't return."

"All eight of us thought the food was excellent, especially the butternut squash soup! The service was good, unobtrusive. My only complaint is the noise level which is WAY beyond "energetic". Lugo Caffe is good dining before events at Madison Square Garden if you can get a reservation."
