"Ambience is a bit "eh." Sort of loud, and decor is not super high end.
But you'll forget that as soon as you eat. The food is just divine. This is NOT your typical sushi joint. This is not even your typical high end sushi joint. This is real Japanese food, offering things like warm egg custard (with foie gras! OMG! I die! Or duck! I die again!) and bone marrow, that takes food to a whole other level. It's the type of restaurant where every bite makes you close your eyes and sink into the experience.
Don't do happy hour. We did so the first time and I thought it was just ok, and we almost didn't go back. But for our anniversary, Uchi was booked, so we decided to try it again, and ordered off the regular dinner menu and that is the way to go. I can't even describe it. Just go, and ask one of the highly knowledgable waitstaff to help you pick out dishes, and you'll be fine. Expect to pay around $300 for a dinner for two, with a couple of drinks and glasses of wine."

"I eat here very often, almost weekly at times, lunch or dinner. This sushi restaurant is exceptional, we love the specials and the chefs and waiter recommendations. Sometimes we literally tell our waiter to select items for us. We'll tell them what we don't like and how many plates to bring us and they will choose. We've done that countless times with many different waiters and always had a great meal. It's also a great way to explore the menu, they bring a great variety. Their menu is fun and their food is perfect for those that savor great cuisine. Go, enjoy, dine and taste, really taste the food. Don't go if you just want a california roll or a crunch roll...hit up another sushi restaurant for that. Favs include the new zealand salmon, toro, amberjack and foie gras, tofu with wild mushrooms, rising sun roll, anything from the special menu for the day. That's just me...have fun!"
