Located on Main street in downtown Sebastopol, K&L Bistro offers fine food in a casual atmosphere. "I've eaten here before and enjoyed it. This time I got the chicken piccata and it was flavorful but too oily. I had a stomach ache for the rest of the evening. My husband had pasta and meatballs and he also commented that there was a puddle of oil at the bottom of his dish and he too had a stomach ache. Too bad! So many great restaurants around that we probably won't return."

"We go to Sebastopol 1-2 times a year; close to wineries, ocean, and affordable. Decided to try K&L and we're glad we did! Very comfortable place. Food was very good; we had salmon and branzino (see bass) and they were cooked perfectly. The oysters to start were excellent! We also had beet salad and carrot soup special; both were very good! Our server was very friendly and attentive, as were all the wait staff. The owners/chefs keep the bar running as well as the kitchen. Food is served hot from their fire oven; fun to watch them cook! None of the food waits at the counter; servers are quick to grab it and bring it to customers. We'll be back for sure!"

"My husband and I both enjoyed the meal and the service was great. The atmosphere is not your typical wine country feel if that is what you are expecting. This is more of a small town attraction for folks looking to get out of the bigger towns and enjoy a nice meal."

"I'm happy to report that things are still top-notch. There are some new things on the menu, including the return of the beloved persimmon and walnut salad. The wine list also has been refreshed with some interesting bottles. Prices remain a bit high. For example, the K&L crab cakes are now listing at $28, whereas elsewhere they're about $15. We started with a beet salad that was delicious; fresh and crunchy...the kind of salad one seems unable to reproduce at home. For our entrees my companion went for the Scotch Salmon, which she loved. I enjoyed the special for the evening, a lamb ragout over pasta.

"We had a really delicious meal at K & L Bistro. We had the radish salad, branzio, grilled asparagus, fries, and strawberry shortcake. The food was simply, but perfectly prepared and of excellent quality. The service was very good and unobtrusive. I was especially great to watch the cooks - they were calm and focused throughout the evening. The restaurant is very pleasant and not loud, which we really liked. We had a lovely evening."

"I took a friend here for lunch based on the reviews. We were surprised by the lack of a proper lunch menu which made it a bit expensive. I could see that this would be a nice place for dinner. It reminded me of a typical bistro in France. Being from Napa I had heard about this restaurant and was looking forward to their lunch. If I am in the area I would look forward to dinner just to see what everyone has been saying."

"Very good bistro food. The charcuterie plate was exceptional, as was the Caesar salad. We had a very good glass of an Italian sauvignon blanc, a first-time experience in that type of wine. Staff was attentive and very pleasant. We have taken several out-of-town guests here and will continue to do so."

"The food is local, fresh and used in innovative ways. Menu is small but has good choices. The boudin is wonderful, as were the fried green tomatoes, grilled fish, salmon. We don;t do desserts but they look and sound wonderful. We are delighted that they lowered their corkage to $10 for a Sonoma County wine....very fair."

"We like K&L Bistro. Having the kitchen right there works as it adds "flavor", remarkably, without lots of noise. The staff is great, the ambience is chic, yet warm, the food variable. My petrale was not hot enough when brought to me, and pretty bland. But my husband's lamb ragout pasta was delicious. The dessert menu wants you to go the dessert first routine; we waited, but I could have downed a meal's worth of the pot de creme w/ Myers lemons."

"The greeting and service good as usual. I was a little disappointed the the ahi tartare was not on the appetizer menu although ahi was available as an entree. My second choice for an entree was the chimicurri hanger steak. The steak was very tender and flavorful, n=but had lost its temperature most likely waiting for the side of great piping not pommes frites. K&L (chef owners) had the night off as the food quality showed."

"We were there for Sonoma County restaurant week, and really enjoyed the entire 3 course prix-fixe meal. When we sat down, looked at the menu, and saw that the appetizer for the dinner was octopus, my wife and I weren't too sure about it, but decided to take a chance. We're glad we did, because it was amazingly good. The main dish was pork belly, which was a little bit fatty, but oh so delicious. We would definitely recommend this place to others and look forward to eating here again."

"K&L is a tiny little bistro in the middle of downtown Sebastapol. The food was very well prepared and good. My one complaint is that every entree came with French fries! Had the mussels which were delicious, but served with fries. They need a little more creativity, especially since they are located in the heart of Sonoma farm country.Service was good and corkage available."

"We are return customers to K & L. The waitstaff is attentive and professional. The food was very good. My father had the petrale sole which was excellent. I had a calamari salad with baby spinach, grilled red onion slices and new potatoes with a balsamic dressing and Atlantic mussels served in the Belgian style, in a butter and parsley broth with French Fries and an unbelievable home made mayonnaise. The muscles were mild and most were fresh. The couple that weren't were a little off, not terrible as sometimes happens with muscles. My father had a glass of good French Cabernet Sauvignon. The French fries stayed good and crunchy even when they on the bottom in the broth.

"Nicely varied menu for a small establishment, food was well prepared though a bit slow to arrive at the table (probably a function of a small kitchen). French onion soup was excellent, as was the crepe Suzette. Wine list is not deep."

"Went to K&L with my husband, son and his girlfriend. We started with the charcuterie plate which was a great starter with including a wonderful rabbitt rillette and duck pate. It was the perfect starter. I had the Branzino special and it was quite delicious. My son had the burger and he said it was very good. Our waitress was very pleasant and gave us good recommendations. We will definitely go there again."

"What can be a very difficult night for service, Our Valentines dinner experience was great. The servers were very attentive. Our dishes were well presented. My was sole and the wife's was Salmon both were delicious. This was our first visit and we plan to return."

"This restaurant was recommended to us but I was very disappointed. I had the poached salmon which was good but the poaching liquid was too vinegary so the potatoes and spinach served with it had too strong a vinegar taste. The other two diners had the petrale sole which was good but it was paired with French fries. Could they have not served it with potatoes made another way and some type of green vegetable. A strange pairing. Also, our server made us feel rushed wanting to take our drink order and food order at the same time. Not one of my favorite dining experiences."

"This was our first visit to K&L Bistro though the friends with whom we dined had been there a few times. The atmosphere was cosy and friendly and the food was very good. My house made boudin blanc with french fries and endive and apple salad was a tasty dish although I wish there had been a little more endive and a little less apple in the salad. My dining partners all chose different dishes, The half roast chicken was succulent (and large) and the accompanying cauliflower gratin well made. The hanger steak was perfectly cooked and declared very tasty, if a little chewy, and it went well with the baby kale. The mac and cheese was delicious as were the brussels sprouts with lardons and lemon. Service was efficient and unobtrusive."
