Croton Reservoir Tavern has become a popular midtown lunch, dinner and after work gathering spot. Featuring a wondrous hand painted 150 sq foot mural of the reservoir in all its glory, dining at the Croton Reservoir Tavern allows you to enjoy a palpable turn of the century New York experience. The tavern’s 50 foot oak bar, brass studded leather chairs, wrought iron railings and leather banquet seating lay the backdrop for warmth and good cheer. Modern American cuisine and NYC’s most popular drinks are prepared to the highest of standards and served with relaxed charm and cheerful attentive service. Croton’s comfortable and casual atmosphere along with it's vibrant social scene, quality dining and special event hosting has made it one of New York’s most popular destinations.
"I had a Travelzoo voucher for brunch. Part of the voucher was that there was a guaranteed TWENTY percent tip added in. We were ignored. Food was slow to come out (there were all of 5 tables for brunch including us. One party of 4; 4 parties of 2. SO not busy!). We never had our water glasses refilled. It was awful."

"I've passed Croton Reservoir Tavern a number of times and always thought it looked like a nice place; when I had to book a business lunch I deceided to give it a try. They receive high marks across the board. Excellent beer selection. The menu has a wonderful mix of light and heartier dishes. For dessert we split a plate of the fresh baked cookies; they were the perfect end to a great lunch. I can't wait to return."

"The staff was all friendly, nice and somewhat attentive. The restaurant itself was too noisy. A large group of crass, loud rubes were seated next to us and we had to ask to be moved. As it turns out, the next table was really not much better. We were subjected to an interview of some sort (wait staff, band member?) being conducted in the hallway, and the singer of the band was walking around warming up his voice.
We also had to ask too many questions about the pre-theatre menu (such as, did they have one?) and what was included.
Not what we expected."

"Two problems we had: first they said I didn't have a reservation. I always print my Open Table confirmation so I handed it to the hostess who said she would talk to her manager. I was pretty firm about checking me in. Then they gave us menus but not the prix fixe menu I saw online so I had to ask for it. I was told I got the last order of ravioli on the prix fixe! We were happy with the food and two prix fixe entrees come with a bottle of red or white wine which is nice. Just wish our experience didn't involve having to insist on things."

"We had brunch here this past Sunday. The food was excellent. The ambiance was very nice. The service was efficient but our server did not smile once. We would recommend it."

"Welcome find in the Theater District. Small so make reservation if trying to do a pre-Theater dinner. Lobster Bisque was delicious. Crab cake appetizer was meaty and sizable enough to share if you are also getting another aapetizer like the cajun spicy shrimp.
My husband had the bone in rib-eye, which along with the mashed potatoes and spinach was also delicious."

"Food was good but not great. Nothing special but tasty. Service was really bad. My drink remained empty for much longer than I would have liked and the check didn't come for 30 min after we were done."

"Hostess was sweet and sat us right away. The food at brunch was amazing and far surpassed my expectations. The wait staff didn't seem thrilled to be there. The bus boy was was nicer to us than our waiter (I hope they get a good cut of the tips!). It was really too bad b/c otherwise I would have said this place was outstanding."

"Was the perfect spot to meet an old friend. Good food, courteous service in a quiet atmosphere. I would bet the bar has a good crowd at night and I intend to try it out."

"This was our 4th time here and was very good. Came as a small group and everything was good. Staff was attentive, being this was a business lunch we were taken care and was able to have lunch in a reasonable amount of time."

"It's a nice upscale tavern, seems like a popular brunch spot. Excellent brunch options on the menu and the melontinis were delicious. Service can be slow and spotty because it was pretty busy."

"Wonderful food; moderate price - I love this place. It is close to bryant park - so I can enjoy a relaxing meal and walk across the street to catch my bus to go home."

"Delicious meal for a dad and teenage daughter duo. Lamb burger was flavorful, made tasty with original blend of garnishes. Mac and cheese was heavenly and creamy delicious. We really liked the beautiful yet informal setting, very comfortable."

"This is one of my first negative reviews on opentable. They seated us promptly, but beyond that, the service was terrible. The appetizers came out with the entrees, and that was only because I had to ask where the food was. Drinks never for refilled and I needed to chase down the check."

"Nice lunch menu to choose from, and my Cobb salad was ample, fresh and tasty. The food came quickly, and then the waitress mostly left us alone so we could eat and chat. Worked for me!"

"Good food, good service, and a lovely decor. One catch, we went in for a 7:30 dinner and by 8:30 the lights were dimmed, the music was pumping, the tables were being cleared away and they were prepping for a club experience. Looked like love music was setting up as well. I'm not sure if this was a regular occurrence or a special event, but either way, no one warned us it was coming. I suppose the positive way to look at it is if you want dinner and a club, come early and stay right through- you can skip the line that was half way down the block to get in!"
