Remember when Matt Dillon was eavesdropping on Cameron Diaz in the movie "There's Something About Mary"? They were at Red Fish Grill. And what a location! Whether dining outside under the Palms at the edge of Biscayne Bay or in the historic coral stone dining room, this restaurant is like nowhere else. It's a slice of Florida that disappeared long ago in most parts of Miami. But it's a lot more than atmosphere that brings in the locals and notables. The menu is dedicated to fresh local seafood, cooked with a gourmet twist, sometimes Caribbean... sometimes Asian. Best bets: Fennel Seared Yellowfin Tuna on Crispy Wonton, Crab Cakes with Tropical Melon Slaw, Red Snapper with Shaved Red Onion Fennel Salad, Herb Crusted Sea Bass with White Bean Ragout, homemade Key Lime Pie and Caramel Flan with Toasted Coconut. "We were in Miami for my sons graduation (go canes) and we found and booked this place on OT, what a find it was, the location is unbelievable, in fact, you'll wonder if you took a wrong turn somewhere along the way to this place. The food is outstanding, serveice is impecable,a the staff are very friendly. The bummer is it is wine and beer only and no bar... so stopping by for a drink, you'll be disapointed if they are busy."

"We were celebrating our 4 years wedding anniversary. I mentioned this on the reservation when I booked it online, thinking that we would receive some sort of surprise or special attention, but no luck. Overall the experience was great, we received the expected service, but not a thoughtful experience. I already recommended the restaurant to some friends, the sea bass and the red snapper plates were truly delicious."

"We spent a celebration at Red Fish Grill. Generally, the setting is gorgeous, the staff were very nice, and the food was pretty good. The service was polite, but not as attentive as we would have liked. (Had to ask three times for a candle that would stay lit, water was not refilled unless requested, finding our server was a little hard when we were served a glass of spoiled wine...) Some of the food was fantastic, some was just pretty good. The pork chop was so-so. The sea bass was beautifully prepared and was good, and the other fish scored rave reviews by our guests. In all it was a nice evening, and I would go back again. But it definitely wasn't the level of gourmet food or service I had expected."

"It was our second time visiting this restaurant. A wonderful view right on the water. The food is excellent. I recommend the tuna. The calamari and crab cakes were great too! They have a great selection of wines and beer. Unfortunately, they do not serve liquor. A great spot for a special occasion as the ambiance is one of a kind in Miami. It truly is a hidden gem."

"Very nice location and grounds to walk around, but not so good for dining. The patio resembles a swimming pool setting with plastic chairs and little ambiance. The food was poor. Snapper was dried out (obviously previously frozen) with uninteresting cole slaw plopped on top - not at all appetizing, especially for the price! The side to the snapper was a pile of pre-made (processed, not house made) run of the mill plantain chips. All other dinners (party of 6) were very mediocre at best. If looking for food that lives up to the price advise to go somewhere that cares about the food and are not just getting by due to their special location."

"The restaurant is amazing, if you want an overall great place to be, romantic, clean, with great atmosphere, views and service, this is the place to go. The food is outstanding in taste and presentation. It is a bit on the higher side of reasonable prices but they are completely worth it. Another plus for this place is that they have some great red wines and blends and you would be shocked with their wines compared to the food prices. You can have great red merlots and cabernet sauvignons ranging from 40-60$ per bottle which I found very reasonable. I would definitely recommend it to anyone on a romantic date or a special occation since the view and the outdoor dinning accompanied with great food are the main attractions of the RFG"

"went here with wife for wedding anniversary. Pan Fried Red Snapper, Grilled Black Angus Hanger Steak & Fried Calamari appetizer. I'm not a foodie, but I would say food was as expected for the price range of $30 a plate. Overall good even though nothing blow me away. wife said steak was somewhat more grease than would have been ideal. We are not wine drinkers. small beer selection worked for me. Wife wasn't happy that no cocktails were served. service was good, very polite and neutral. A smile or a little personality from the staff wouldn't have hurt. All that being said we came here for the ambiance. And that really makes the place stand out! The sunset, the breeze, the palms, just awesome when you are used to a view at parking lots in ATL!"

"Being a seafood restaurant, I expected better seafood. My mahi-mahi was very dry...it must have been frozen for months! And the red snapper served to my dining companions was left too long under the heating light which dried it out, too. The shrimp bisque was hot and delicious. But the presentation was fine, and the salad with mission figs was very nice."

"We had such a great time at Red Fish, the Tuna Tartar wasn't the best but the Sea Bass dish was right on target! The view was amazing and the weather was perfect for the outside dining experience. The waiter was responsive, however he could have been a bit more friendly. They didn't have high chairs so my 1yr old ended up just sitting in a chair between the two of us, however, it worked out fine for us. I would love to go again, maybe on a date with just my husband to check out the ambiance at night."

"The Red Fish Grill had been written up as one of Miami's best restaurants. My wife and I had a late dinner and found the experience to be truly excellent. "This restaurant is great for outside dining until the end of May. After that, the temperatures and bugs will make it challenging to eat outside. That being said, we had a table for 2 facing the water. Out server was very attentive had some good suggestions regarding the wine list and took a great picture of us as the sun was setting. We have been here a number of times and can always be guaranteed a great but limited menus, comprised of fresh fish and tasty appetizers and sides. Of note: the snapper and Calamari are awesome."

"I took my boyfriend there to celebrate his birthday and from the moment we walked in everyone was so attentive and wished him a happy birthday. I'd noted it was his birthday when I made the reservation online and asked for a romantic spot as well as stated his favorite dessert is key lime pie. After dinner our server snuck up to the table with a slice of key lime pie with a candle. I was very impressed they paid attention to everything I'd written in the reservation."

"I took my wife here for her birthday and we were very pleased with Red Fish Grill. The location is perfect for a romantic evening or a group dinner. The wine list is great the appetizers are fabulous and the entrees superb. Of note, thechef'sdo not put a lot if spices on the fish when grilled, sip therefore if you are expecting a blackened Mahi Mahi filet iris not served. This bing said the natural flavor of the entree selection is superb. My wife and I will be returning again to Red Fish Grill!"

"This is a great pick for seafood only. The red snapper and sea bass were excellent. The menu is very limited. The steaks were tough and poorly prepared, and the sauce was glorified ketchup. Our waitress was very young and inexperienced but tried hard. The plastic lawn chairs in the dining room are a mismatch with the pricetag for this meal. The location is spectacular, and the desserts were tasty."
