The View Restaurant at the Mirror Lake Inn
The View is the only AAA four-diamond fine dining restaurant in Lake Placid, New York. Overlooking Mirror Lake and the Adirondack High Peaks, this restaurant is renown for its commitment to food and wine. The concept is elegant comfort foods with an extensive wine list that has been recognized for excellence by the Wine Spectator for the past Thirteen years. The menu changes three times each year. Prepared Dinner at The James Beard House November 2008. We are also new member to The Adirondack Harvest. Taste Bistro & Bar adjoins the View with Casual dinner fare, have drinks by the fire and relax. Live music on Friday nights in Taste Bistro. The perfect place for the "special occasion".

"We were celebrating our 48th wedding anniversary. The view from the restaurant is wonderful. At the end of our meal our waiter took a photograph of us and presented the picture to us in a frame with "Mirror Lake Inn" inscribed on it. It was overall a very nice dining experience."

"Was there for a nice weekend of relaxation and pampering only to be spoiled even further by the food. The servers were knowledgable and accommodating and the kitchen was readily able to alter the menu for allergies or intolerance. Most item are gluten free so choice is available. When we arrived we were pleasantly greeted and immediately sat. Highly recommend"

"This restaurant is somewhat expensive but is worth every penny. The food was, well the best that I have had in the northeast in some many years. The view was very nice, the service excellent and the atmospher was very relaxing and quiet. I have already reccommended this restaurant to others and cannot wait to go back with my wife for a romantic dinner. Thank You. Bob D"

"The food was superb and the ambiance was wonderful. No cell phones are allowed and so it makes for a lovely, intimate, peaceful experience. I had forgotten how civilized the world used to be. The wait staff was polite and knowledgeable. Outstanding!!"

"The Mirror Lake Inn is one of our favorite hotels, and The View is consistently a great place to have dinner overlooking Lake Placid's Mirror Lake. This time the Himalayan Red Rice Risotto was the stuff of dreams with chestnuts, goat cheese, swiss chard and all kinds of yummy stuff! The service is always attentive and pleasant. Even if you don't stay at the MLI, have dinner here."

"We stayed at the Mirror Lake Inn and had a wonderful time. Unfortunately, our anticipation exceeded the reality of the food quality at The View. We were equally disappointed with our choices of the Quail and the Bouillabaisse. They tasted only average and the latter requires a few specific comments. A lot of the fish in the broth was mealy and I detected freezer burn? on the lobster. It was actually difficult to distinguish one fish from the other. I was NOT tempted to soak up every bit of the broth with bread (a first!). We did enjoy the trio of Crème Brule. On the other hand, the service was fantastic and enhanced our evening. At the end however, we did not feel that the experience at The View Restaurant reflected a value of $178.00."

"I went to the view with my family while visiting Lake Placid.Everything was great start to finish.The menu had a great selection, but we opted for the grass fed rib-eye steak and fish specials which were both fantastic.Service was attentive and professional.Would definitely recommend."

"This restaurant had wonderful reviews on the internet,and we expected the best. What we experienced was well above our wildest dreams. High quality ingredients from local farms combined into beautifully prepared dishes served with a glass of custom blend California wine. Exquisite blend of food created a symphony in my mouth. Along with great service, fresh snow falling the skies, warmth of a fire place, beautiful decor created a memorable evening. We are already looking forward to our next trip to Lake Placid, and The View is definitely on our list."
