"I'd heard such great reviews of Urban Farmer and thought it would be great to try for Mother's Day brunch. When I learned it was a buffet that cost $54 per person I almost canceled, but thought this must be a really special brunch- amazing food, free champagne, etc. But, no- the food was good, but not worth $54; the champagne was not gratis; the server was not friendly, helpful or attentive. It left me wondering why we came, to be honest."

"One of... if not THE best brunch... I've eaten in downtown Portland. Amazing selection for both kids and adults. Very impressive! However, I wasn't a fan of the mixed drink I ordered. The waiter brought me a glass of Prosecco... which was outstanding. Will go again for brunch!"

"I have been here a few times for special occasions. The food and service are truly exceptional, even to a foodie such as myself. The wait staff will go above and beyond to ensure a pleasureable dining experience, which included having a chef come out with my steak to carve it tableside.
My only complaint about this restauraunt is the fact that although the ceiling goes up cathedral style several stories, there still are no windows to the outside and it feels like you're in the middle of a hotel. (which you are) It can get a little loud and you lose out on a more intimate feeling. However, the overall experience is well worth the money and lack of more ambiance."

"my overall experience with urban farmer was ok. that is the only way to say it. service was terrible. after eating out ok steaks, we got the bill. then we sat for 15 minutes while server took his time to come back to take our credit card. he wasn't busy. just ignored us. I would not recommend. better steak places in Portland"

"This was my first experience and Urban Farmer, but I doubt it will be my last. The food was of superior quality, and the service was very good overall. My only slight negative pertaining to service was that it took a bit long for our server to bring the check, but I suppose he was trying to give us ample time to talk.
I ordered the halibut which was cooked to perfection, and the twice-baked fingerling potato tart is NOT to be missed! I was too full for dessert this time around, but I will certainly be sure to save room on my next visit. Also, the decor and atmosphere contribute to a lovely dining experience suitable for any special occasion. I definitely enjoyed Urban Farmer, and recommend it."

"This was our fourth or fifth visit to Urban Farmer. We were there to celebrate our anniversary. The menu changes seasonally, and this time I tried the onion soup and the scallops. They were both wonderful. The scallops were served with poached quail eggs and morel mushrooms. Hands down, one of the best dinners I have ever had. My husband enjoyed a perfectly cooked steak and the twice baked fingerling potatoes. The waiter was friendly and helpful. He helped us choose a wine and it turned out to be a new favorite. We finished with the butterscotch brownie.....bam! So good! Urban Farmer will continue to be one of our favorites for a special night out."

"Some friends from New York and I went to Urban Farmer for dinner. We received terrific, friendly, knowledgeable service from both our server and the cheese expert, who came by our table to describe all of the restaurant's cheese offerings and their various flavors. Although the service was professional, it was also warm and fun. We had a great time laughing and chatting with the servers. With regards to the food, it was all delicious. I had the salmon, which was cooked perfectly. We ordered several side dishes to share. I highly recommend the creamed spinach, the macaroni and cheese, and the grits, which were the creamiest, most flavorful grits I've tasted since I lived in Virginia. Looking forward to going back."

"Food is amazing. Wine list is terrific and the sommelier is very knowledgeable and helpful. Two notes that brought down the experience (a tad). 1. Playlist is so eclectic it is distracting. It jumps from spa/electronica to disco to swing. 2. Our server was disconnected and devoid of personality. She timed our experience terribly (the entree arrived before the starter had been cleared and before our wine had even been brought to the table!) It seemed like she wanted to turn the table. We were in and out in about 75 minutes! It was a race! I'd definitely go back; I'd just ask to be seated with their best server next time."

"While the cost may seem high at first, everything is large enough to share so diners really only need to order 1 meal. A coworker and I went for dinner while at a conference and shared a salad, steak, cauliflower, and the potato tart. We even had enough to feed 1 more person in leftovers.
The service was excellent. Definately some of the best service I've had in a very long time at a restraunt. The food was also delicious and perfectly cooked."

"My girlfriend and I attended this restaurant for special occasion. I specifically requested a seat away from most diners so that we can have a quiet opportunity to connect. They put us in the fabulous spot in the restaurant. Customer service was truly outstanding. The star of the menu are the meat selections. So if you are vegan or vegetarian, this is probably not the best place for you to go. The meat selections are fantastic, expensive, but worth the price. The only thing I could critique the restaurant about is its ice cream. The ice cream there is overly sweet. My girlfriend and I both did not enjoy the taste of the ice cream. otherwise, we truly enjoyed our experience here. And would recommend it."

"Don't by any means assume that booking a table weeks ahead of time, showing up early on the appointed evening AND dressed to the nines will result in a table in an agreeable part of the restaurant.We declined the first table we were offered which had as much passing human traffic as the nearby Interstate; this despite the place being awash with vacant tables which remained so until well after we three departed! So, with this unhappy experience clouding the rest of the evening, we proceeded to wade through the menu with its flowery descriptions of raw ingredients hand-massaged by buxom maidens in sylvan glades then transported by teams of hand-selected gnomes to arrive at one's table in an immaculate state.The Fromagier was a star, though"

"We really enjoyed the Easter Brunch. We chose Urban Farmer because they offered a Buffet Brunch and we have enjoyed dining there on a number of occasions . The food has never been dissappointing. The service is always attentive and the setting is comfortable. I especially enjoy the semi private dining areas. You are not secluded, but conversation between two people or more can be held without the worry of disturbing other diners. Sunday's brunch was especially satisfying. "This was our second time at Urban Farmer's. We brought an out-of-town visitor there for a special brunch experience. We had reservations and were seated in a more private part of the restaurant, which was really wonderful. We came back for the service, which is outstanding--friendly, not pretentious, and highly professional, and the food. We were disappointed the heirloom tomato salad was not on the menu (I understand it is a seasonal item). The vegetarian eggs benedict were delicious, but had a bit too much lime and the avocado was sour. And the French Toast was okay--I liked the rhubarb sauce but the French Toast itself was pretty routine."

"Great ambiance. However, the steak was terrible. We had two different cuts and paid $$$, but neither one was happy. Although advertised as a very special meat (choices of grass fed, corn fed, ...), my ribeye was very tough. As I got closer to the bone I just gave up. I wasn't even able to cut it, not to mention chew it. Not sure why it had a bone ... didn't order bone-in ribeye. This was the second time that I was not happy with Urban Farmer's steak. Would go back, but never again for steak. If I want a great steak in Portland I will go to Ringside."

"Special occasions would be well served to try this spot. The staff is exceptionally well equipped to make your visit most memorable. We had appetizers and dinner and there was nothing that was not exceptionally prepared and served. For our occasion our waiter took the liberty to provide a very special treat at the end of our meal. "Ordered the four piece steak tasting item. The plate was not warm, as my experience has been with most other steakhouses, therefore the steak pieces cooled off in a matter of minutes, well before completing meal. One of the steak pieces was over-seasoned. The creamed spinach gratin was interesting, but was again over-seasoned. The twice baked potato dish was the best dish of the meal and was quite good. Our waiter was great, but the food expeditor was not the friendliest person and seemed to be in a rush when asked a question. Although not on the dessert menu, the waiter was able to fulfill my request for a creme brûlée. Maybe my expectations were a bit high after the "10 Best Steakhouses" article on Yahoo."
