By day, you can gaze upon the rugged mountain landscape as the Sunbird carries your worries away. In the evening, watch the sun set behind the mountains while the lights of the city begin to twinkle in the darkness. Step out onto the patio and enjoy a cocktail or an after dinner coffee by one of the warming fire pits.
The Sunbird Restaurant is open for dinner daily and offers a champagne brunch on Sundays . The Sunbird's Sunday Brunch has been voted " Best of the Springs " by The Gazette for 05, 06 and 07. Happy Hour in the lounge Monday through Friday from 4 pm to 7 pm. Live Jazz Quartet on Friday’s 5 pm - 9 pm.

"-While there were some snags (e.g. one steak overcooked), they were quickly remedied by the service staff. -My guest list increased dramatically several hours prior to dinner (20 to 30). A quick phone call made the increase possible and without issue. -The bartender was well versed in drinks. Every beverage mixed and poured was outstanding. -The service staff was attentive yet never overbearing... good balance. -Despite the rainy/snowy weather out that night, the view of the city was a treat. -Overall a great place to celebrate a special occasion with a good group of friends."

"Our dining experience at the Sunbird wasnt all we hoped it would be. Upon arrival I asked the hostess if we could be seated near a window overlooking the city, as I also requested on the on line reservation. We were told we could not sit there because the tables only sat 2. So why not put 2 tables together like the others in the room? Nice views, but dont waste your time requesting a table with a view if you have a party of 4. The service started out ok, but then much too slow. The room was so dark, we could hardly see our food in the plates. As far as the price of the dinners, much too high.While the food was tasty, weve had better food for less."

"I had a sirloin steak for my entree. I had to send the first one back because the cut was very tough. The second one came out better but was still not up to the quality I was expecting at this up-scale establishment. We had a great table and really enjoyed the view and each other despite my sub-par meal. We were glad we went as we had never been to the Sunbird and always wanted to go. We probably won't go back."

"The appearance of the restaurant was very nice. Beautiful views of the city, courteous waitstaff, and a casual elegance but the food was not good. The London Broil and roast beef were tough, the shrimp lacked any flavor, too much dill in one of their salads and the pork in green chile sauce was dry. It was very disappointing, as my family had been anticipating a great meal. For the price of the brunch, food needs to be greatly improved!"

"The food was fabulous, the wait staff very friendly and helpful, and the view is incredible, especially at night. Unfortunately, we were seated next to the door leading to the tavern area, which was very loud. The door had an extension chord running under it, so it would not close without being manually shut. One waiter kept closing it and another waitress would open it. I ended up closing it myself about 5 times. The evening would have been perfect without all the noise."

"My husband and I went for Valentine's Day. The ambience was very nice, with our requested window seat we had a beautiful view of the city, and our server provided impeccable service, my salad was crisp, with delicious balsamic raspberry vinaigrette dressing, our filet mignon was excellent, but for the price of our dinner we were a little disappointed with the garlic mashed potatoes, they were not very tasteful, a little on the cool side, like they had been sitting out for a while. Our over all dining experience was very good, and my husband and I will return to try other dishes."

"Sunbird is a very romantic and scenic place only outdone by the Brodamoor for fine dining in Colorado Springs. It is moderately priced and the amount of food is satisfying. I would say that this restaurant is fit for special occasions, but can also serve very well for a nice romantic dinner that will provide the customer with a relaxing atmosphere. The food was very good leading up to the main course. The main course on the other hand can only be granted a rating of good, as it seemed that the restaurant had flavor to hide by adding many unnatural flavors to the steaks and pork chops, although I believe thechef had good intent. Service is excellent and I would highly recommend having a night out at this restaurant and trying it for yourself"

"Easily the most horrifying and regrettable Valentines Day experience I've ever had. Admittedly, it was a romantic holiday, which will always put a strain on a restaurant's resources; however, my waitress was serving every table on the east side of the building while others were just standing at the entrance to the kitchen looking out. It took about ten minutes for the waitress to even speak with us, another fifteen to get the drinks, thirty to get the appetizers, which were decent. None of this bothered me; I would have expected it from any restaurant. However, waiting over an hour just to receive our check so that we could leave tried my patience almost beyond my control. We left the restaurant tired, bored and irritated."

"Food and scenery were excellent. Service was sub-par. It took 45 minutes to receive our cocktails and they were delivered after the appetizers. We didn't receive our salad until over an hour after we were seated and there was a note on the table to limit our dining time to one hour and 45 minutes. That's exactly how long it took from the time we were seated until our entree was delivered. We were given the meals from other tables twice while waiting for our meal. The dessert we ordered from the menu was not available and I received the sugar for my coffee after I finished my dessert. Not my favorite Valentine's Day experience."

"My boyfriend booked a 9:00 PM reservation. We waited 45 minutes after our scheduled time. I was informed that the seafood was outstanding at the Sunbird, let's face it, its hard to get any good seafood out here in the Springs. The whole reason my boyfriend brought me to your establishment was for the seafood. I was stoked! Well, our waitress informed us as we were ordering that they were out of lobster tail. They were out of the clam chowder as well, I got stuck with some beer cheese soup and a seafood collage that was less than I expected. The dessert was great. "My wife and I went to Sunbird for Valentine's Day (Eve). Our first impression was great. Our waiter was initially attentive, but as the evening drew on, it seemed we were semi forgotten about. The food turned out very good, but the middle of my steak was more rare than medium, which was what was asked for. We figured that things were a litte hectic with the holiday weekend, so we decided that we would like to go back at not such a busy time."

"The Sunbird has one of the consistantly fine Sunday Brunches in the state of Colorado. The kitchen staff does an excellent job keeping the large selection supplied and refreshed. The chef at the meat carving/bananas Foster station aptly keeps everyone served with a smile and pleasant word. Love the clam chowder and finishing with the made to order bananas Foster. On our recent visit, service from Autumn was superior. The smart arrangement of food selections in separate areas eliminates long, slow lines - the bane of many buffets. With the great view of Pikes Peak - a perfect Sunday experience."

"I was very disappointed. While the food was good, the service was awful. I've been a server in restaurants from 2star to 5star so I have a very good idea what to expect. I made a special request with my reservation and not only did they not abide by it, they never even had the decency to tell me they would be unable to help. For the food alone I might return, but it will never be a place I go for celebrations or special occasions. There are tons of other restaurants in the Springs to get excellent food."

"Our dinner was just what we were looking for. The view and the fact that we were able to request a table by the window and they made sure that we got just what we requested. the service was excellent as well as the food. "We always make a trip to the Sunbird for Sunday brunch when my parents are in town. Our reservation was for noon but we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. The restaurant was packed and I think we got there right at the end of their big rush. They were obviously busy due to the Christmas holiday. We had an excellent table by the window. The food was good as usual with a wide variety of breakfast and lunch items. Make sure you ask where the omelet/pasta/fajita bar is located if it's your first time there. It's not near the rest of the food items. We have found the Sunbird to be very consistent which is the best compliment I can give to any restaurant. This is a great place for a special occasion and highly recommended!"

"Christmas Brunch is a challenge for any establishment to pull off. The Sunbird did it pretty well. There was a certain amount of disorder with so many large family groups and that some larger groups of people were moving around than a Sunday brunch -- not too relaxed as it might have been. The number of items of hot foods was good and the hot foods WERE hot. Overall, the food was not GREAT (with the exception of the Eggs Benedict), but very good. Generally the breakfast, dinner, dessert and appetizer items were appropriately segregated, but the layout of all the foods and the ingress and egress was a bit awkward. Service was OK(servers seemed a bit frantic), but it was genuinely warm and friendly. Overall a good choice for Christmas."

"The food was very good and the service not so good there was a heavy set lady that was an employee that passed our table three times then I had to stop and ask her who was the waiter because we had no drinks and no one came to attend to my family and I. The same lady never offered us any champagne in which that was part of the meal. The young lady who actually took care of us was very nice dont remember her name. I will not recommend the SunBird to any friends or family because it was not a pleasant experience and the heavy set lady was very rude and just not polite she was focused more on the couple on the side of us than anyone else in the restaurant. "We attended for the first time the Christmas Day buffet. More varieties of food than one could possibly eat. Well prepared,tasty offerings. Not typical restaurant fare. Great accommodating service,yet not intrusive. Bordering on the pricey, but still worth the dining experience. We plan to return for the Christmas Day buffet next year."

"Our family went to the Sunbird for Christmas Eve dinner. Our table (we had a reservation) was ready immediately upon arrival. The service was excellent - very attentive without hovering! The food was excellent and the portions were quite generous. The only complaint we have was the Creme Brulee my wife had for desert. It had apparently been sitting for a bit as the top was soggy. You can't enjoy creme brulee unless the top has that crisp texture to it. Other than that we totally enjoyed our meal!"

"The Sunbird was great-wonderful service, nice food, beautiful scenery but they ran out of wine!!! I ordered one glass of white zinfindel and couldn't order another because they ran out-On Christmas Eve at 5 pm!!!! Can you believe it?? Just check before you go if they have wine to order. Very disappointed!"

"The Sunbird has been one of our family favorites for many years. The Sunday brunch is popular, the food good, and the setting beautiful.
This was the second time in as many months we have been to the Sunday brunch. While we understand the problems of trying to keep seafood fresh and cold, both times the whole salmon was very dry.
The made-to-order omelets are excellent, although maybe a smaller version could be made available. Not everyone wants an omelet made with 3 eggs...no matter how tasty they are.
Worth a visit for sure."

"I was disappointed that Thanksgiving Dinner was presented as a buffet. Because the restaurant is very popular, the line for entree's were jambed packed. Salads and desserts were easily accessible. Because we wanted to enjoy our meals together and have conversation, we opted to simply eat salads and dessert. There were four of us. On a plus side, we were seated right at our reservation time. Our server was attentive, friendly and efficient. The food was good, especially the crab legs; (however, no crab forks were set out, so the only option was to use your fingers for both the shrimp which was not pealed, and the crab legs. That made for a mess which was unpleasant to say the least."

"We especially enjoy the Sunday Champagne Brunch at Sunbird. The broad selection of foods, the nicely presented buffet tables that are kept fresh and neat, the service and attitude of staff make this a very pleasant experience. Sunbird's clam chowder is very good. The buffet tables and cooking stations are well space in the restaurant so that patrons can get to a particular section without waiting in a long line. In addition to an omelet station there is made-to-order pasta and fajitas and a carving station with beef, ham and turkey. The coffee table offers great choices for making your own specialty hot drink. The made-to-order Bananas Foster with cinnamon ice cream is always my favorite crowning end to a delightful brunch."
