"have been there before it when it was more fusion and happy but this time for restaurant week, it was lacking. it was relatively empty when we arrived. waitress took our order but drinks took a while to arrive and water even later. appetizers came and were tasty but then wedwaited almost a good 45 minutes for the main course to arrive - served by someone other than our waitress. lobster mac dish was a decent size and had good size lobster pieces; mahi mahi was wonderful, but calling two chops a rack of lamb is a stretch. three would have been acceptable. dessert was another 1/2 hour in the making - molten lava was delicious while the rice pudding was not. service was so slow, it was good thing we didn't plan on a movie that night."

"Restaurant emailed us back and stated the entire menu would be available aside from the Mother Day Brunch Pre fixe. But when we got there they adamantly told us we could only order from the Brunch Pre fix which was not much to chose from. I wanted to leave but most good restaurants on Mother's Day are reserved ahead of time. The brunch was ordinary. I was extremely embarrassed that took my mom and family to this place. I was led to believe the we could order from the entire menu which looked interesting on line but ended ordering from limited and boring menu. Will not return."

"This was on Mother's Day. Dinner was great as we ordered staple dishes that we love: Pai Tai and Filet Mignon Fried Rice. Service was outstanding as always. Tina is the best...the rest of the staff is wonderful also but Tina is A++!! Tina selected wine for me and it was wonderful. She also let me taste another wonderful wine that Jay (owner) suggested. Jay has a wonderful job of bringing in a great variety of wines to select from. Overall a wonderful Mother's Day dinner for me."

"The food was exceptional. I had a chicken stir fry that was spiced just right and was exceptionally tasty. The molten chocolate cake with ice cream was fabulous."

"The food was alright. The place is small and crowded. You are sitting right on top of the people next to you. We asked the waiter for recommendations of food since we were never there before but the recommendations were only OK. The portion for the appetizers were small. We ordered the lettuce leaf wrap which the waiter recommended. The leaves of the lettuce were tiny and unable to put any of the chicken in them. I would not go back"

"Unfriendly, rude staff, slow service, flavorless entree despite exciting menu and good appetizers. Even the molten chocolate cake was disappointing. I won't be back."

"Since the number of places on long island with organic dishes are limited, West East Bistro was a treat....Nice, modern dining room...simple yet diversified menu...the figs in the House Salad were very enjoyable for both seetness and texture...I highly recommend the Asparagus wrapped in Duck Bacon appetizer...loved the lamb chops...slightly disappointed that they were out of the Grouper which was featured as a special...excellent Yam Mash, not too sweet...finished with gelato and a very earhty, delicious green tea....Also disappounted that there is no Organic Beer on the menu....Great meal, definitely going back."

"The food is good and well presented. The waitress needs a little more grooming on details. Servers shouls not hideand congregate near the bar area and socialize, they should be watching patrons and anticipating their needs. Water refils are not a constant.
The music was not conducive to conversation. The guitarists were too loud and trying to give a concert rather than be in the background where they belong in a restaurant.
We will be back but on an evening when there is no music, or better music."

"It took me a while to get to this review but I made sure I did not forget to write it. I found out about this restaurant from Facebook and I am so glad I decided to go. One friend and I went to one of the tastings they had. This particular tasting was a seafood tasting. We were greeted as soon as we entered by Tina who was our server and she explained how the tasting worked. We were sat at a large family style table with all of the other people who were there for the tasting (which was about 30 people).
I was prepared to write a large review but I see that I am limited to the number of characters. I will try to write a full review on one of the other sites but let's say in a nutshell...amazing! You have to attend a tasting!"

"Service is a problem, though the waiter was friendly and did his best to accommodate. The menu is eclectic and innovative, the food generally good, but we had the feeling the kitchen is slow."

"I've eaten at West East many times but this is the first since they changed the menu. So many amazing new options to choose from. The wild boar ribs fall off the bone and the skirt steak was one of the most flavorful and tender steaks I've ever had. The service was attentive without being over bearing. We're already planning our next night out."

"We love this place. The food is always excellent and reasonably priced. The filet mignon is to die for. The sushi is very fresh and delicious! We frequent this place quite often because the food never disapoints."

"Food was fair. Service fair. Piano player was too loud and unnecessary in such a small restaurant. In fact,he wasn't able to carry a tune and we found it distracting."

"Used to be one of our favorite places. We went for a Valentine Prix Fixe dinner. The restaurant was full, and there was no way the kitchen could keep up with the volume. They opened with a basil mojito. It tasted like you were drinking pesto sauce. After an hour and a half of waiting for our entrees, we asked for the check to pay for the appetizer we had eaten. Of course we were told our meals would be out next. The duck was ordered med/well and arrived very rare. The steak was ordered med/rare and arrived well done (it tasted steamed?). Nothing on the menu was asian fusion except for the chocolate cake which was cooked with wasabi. We won't go back. It was also very poorly heated."

"I've been to West East numerous times and always left happy....not this time, though. Ther was only one waiter for the whole restaurant. Hence, service was very slow and when we finally got our food it was not hot. They changed the menue and I was not happy with the choices. In addition, the restaurant was ver cold. My entire table ate dinner wearing our coats! We asked the waiter twice to turn up the heat....he said he did....but it was still cold. It was obvious that most people in the restaurant were also cold, as they too were wearing thier coats."

"I brought my girlfriend to West East Bistro for Valentines day. On a day where they only had a limited menu you would think that the food would come out pretty fast. There were only a handful of options for each course to choose from and it still took two hours for the meal, and on top of that the food was just ok. The service was terrible, after taking almost a half hour just to get our drinks I should have known that it would be more of the same with the meals. One of my biggest pet peeves when out to eat is seeing tables being seated after me and leaving before me. I saw this at least 3 times. There is no excuse for this being all of the tables were choosing from the same menu that included the same number of courses."

"We have been going to West East since they opened. The food is always consistent as is the service. Tina is the best and the newest server we had, Thomas, was great also. The changes they have made over the last few months have been great. The menu is always exciting. My favorite is the Pad Tai and the Seafood fried rice. We will be back for many years to come."
