"We had a wonderful time eating on a Saturday night out on the deck, and the blankets they provided helped keep us extra warm. The service was excellent! Our server, Shelbyrae, was incredibly knowledgeable about the wine and food including the new foods items on the menu, enthusiastic, and we truly had a better dinner and night because of her fantastic service. The food was cooked perfectly, and I very much enjoyed the small bite options that they had, as well as being an extensive menu, without being overwhelming. Overall, a great place for you to enjoy any type of meal, any time of year."

"My friend took me here for my birthday. It was our first time here and won't be our last. Our waitress was great and had very good knowledge of the menu, especially the last minute changes. The fontina and duck bacon pizza is a must try, and scallops were cooked perfectly. All topped off with their flourless chocolate cake which satisfied this chocoholic."

"The sunny warm June weather brought out a lot of people wanting to dine in the sun, so the wait staff was stretched thin. That's why the service is rated only fair, but at other times we have had much more prompt service at this restaurant. The food was high quality, such as homemade pappardelle with brisket, dungeness spaghetti, or seared salmon. They have far more quality of wines by the glass than most restaurants, with a gas/preservation system. One of our Eastside favorites. Try the maple/pancetta popcorn appetizer!"

"My wife and I were celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary and I had been to the bin on the lake Wine Bar and Restaurant one other time and enjoyed the experience and food. Unfortunately, this time was not the same. With the exception of the hostess and busboy, the experience fell short. There were two waitresses working in the area we were seated and neither one of them offered us a drink or looked our way for over 25 minutes. People who were seated after us were being served. The door to the kitchen was wide open and the trash can was over flowing with trash. We got up and left and went to a different restaurant and had a fantastic dining experience. I have no plans to go back for either a work or personal event."

"They abuse their beautiful view of Lake Washington with excessively-buttered trout entrée, harried service and loud noise from the bar. I had to request honey for my tea three times before I got a tiny amount (about 1.5 tea spoons) insufficient for the pint-size teapot. When I asked for their tea selection, the waiter brought four giant tins of loose leaf tea! My "sautéed Idaho trout" had way too much butter, in addition to the "creamy shrimp sauce" on it. I must admit, though, that the "Roasted beets" salad was delicious."

"Amazing panoramic views and great food. 6 of us went there for Mother's Day and had a variety of appetizers, entrees and shared a dessert (some of them are a little bizarre). Everyone liked their meals, although my Salmon portion was super tiny. Fortunately, I got to eat some of my sister's steak - which was amazing. The only negative is that it's not as fancy as we expected as far as the ambiance and whatnot - pretty brightly lit and the furniture wasn't great. But it was still a great choice."

"The view at any time of year is beautiful from Bin but the windows were dirty, spoiling that feature somewhat. We ordered the $18 charcuterie appetizer combination and it came without the pate. The entrees were good. The dessert menu didn't have much to tempt us. We tried the galette and found the crust tough and not flaky. Service was acceptable. The restaurant seems to be getting old but not gracefully. For the price, we would not go there again."

"We had a great waiter which made up for the bad tasting cocktails we received - waiter said the bartender was new so that is understandable - we enjoyed our appetizer - oysters on the half shell - and our salad. However, our main courses were very blase! The copper river salmon lacked flavor which is supposed to be the trademark of the fish and the duck also lacked flavor. I could have done a better job of cooking/preparing both these dishes in my own kitchen and when I go out to a nicer restaurant I want to be wowed by the main course. Very disappointed but we did have a great waiter and the ambiance is top notch!"

"GREAT Happy Hour. Half price on the wine and Bar food. The bartender had terrific suggestions for wine and food. The wine is along the wall with electronic dispensers for 1 oz, 3 oz and 6 oz. That's why Happy Hour at half price is a great time to sample yummy wines.
The Brussel sprouts for an appetizer - well, I never thought of the veggies for that, but why not. A nice plateful arrived and were delicious with Bacon, onion , fig and other tastes. Enough to share. So, next the pork shank was recommended - it came with a bed of polenta and kale and had a wonderful sauce with wild oyster mushrooms. The meat was braised, tender and sweet. Yum.
This whole experience was right there at the shore of Lake Washington ? Great Views!"

"We dined here on a Travelzoo voucher. We've been to bin before and wanted to give it another chance.
The view is amazing and the restaurant is nice and clean. We have been to many restaurants that are supposed to have the quality of food and service that bin on the Lake is said to, but were let down again with this dining experience.

"The person that served us went beyond the call of duty to make our meal perfect. I asked for a wine recommendation which she gave but unfortunately I think the bottle it was poured from had gone bad as it did not taste as she had described. We did not mention this to her until she asked towards the end of the meal. I explained why we did not drink much and she apologized and was clearly concerned that we were not satisfied with the wine. When she brought the bill she had taken off the two glasses of wine and I had never asked her to do so. This is the mark of a restaurant that cares and it means we will return."

"I had discovered Bin at the Lake through a Travelzoo promotion. I bought and planned a later night dinner (8pm) with a good friend...but one who I wanted to make a positive impression! :-) As the day was warm and beautiful, the sun set at 8:30, what a better environment / setting for a relaxing evening. The wine selection is extensive, the server was informed and helpful on selecting a nice bottle of wine. The food we selected was perfect, light but flavorful. As we closed down the restaurant, I can only say the view, environment, wine, food were excellent. We will return and yes, I got a nice kiss after dinner.... :-)"

"THREE gritty scallops for $33?? With nothing but a little saucy mush on the side... that's a main course? My husband got the pork shank and had barely more food than I did - there was way more bone than meat. Very little flavor in either dish. We left hungry and disappointed.
The view was lovely, as was the wait staff."

"We visited Bin on the Lake on a glorious spring afternoon; Lake Washington was sparkling! The seared Ahi was superb with the roasted pepper relish. The wine list is extensive but pricy; I have never seen wine sold in 1 and 3 oz glass sizes.
The entrees were good. We had trout and NY strip. I would have to say that both dishes had too much emphasis on the sauces and that took away some of the enjoyment of the main food. My steak had a vinagrette sauce that tasted great with the meat, but the fries were soggy from too much sauce. Sauces should complement the food, not envelop it! We shared a lemon cheescake for dessert; rich, zesty, and delicious! Prices might suggest white table cloths, but alas there were none. Recommended with caveats!"

"This is an unusual place. This is a wine bar with an extensive cellar and they also have excellent cocktails. The furnishings are sparse and plain, mismatched to the high prices, as are the card stock menus. The menu is a weird jumble of different items eccentrically grouped, some half the cost of others. Nothing really stood out. We had the specials: halibut with a smoked cream sauce I think over veggies and duck breast with a berry preparation. Both were excellent, worthy of their premium prices ($30+!). Staff was attentive and engaging. Our waitress made a great recommendation of a wine. Overall, this seemed like a high priced, quirky version of the wine bar chain restaurant Purple. Whether it is worth the prices is a judgment call."

"Beautiful spring day with blue skies and warmth so we had a spontaneous date on the shores of Lake Washington. We've been to bin before and had a good experience. This time was not good on any level than the view. The menu did not offer a healthy option with protein so we asked to add a protein (grilled chicken or prawns) to a menu salad and were told no - the chef doesn't like to do that. Okay....for a $150 dinner tab, would have expected our wishes to come to the fore of what we wanted to eat. I got the halibut and it was SWIMMING in butter. "We had a very good experience at Bin on the Lake, in every regard (food, ambiance, service). Both of our entrees, NY strip and roasted salmon were excellent. The only weak part of our order was an appetizer (chard) which was bland. The wine list at this restaurant is extensive and diverse but way overpriced, both for bottle and by the glass orders."

"Bin was our favorite restaurant at one time. Unfortunately, our last two visits have been below expectation. During our recent visit, the food was so bland (and dry) that we requested salt and pepper at the table to try to provide some flavor (pasta with brisket). I only finished about 1/4 of my plate and when asked, told the waiter I did not wish to take it home. In addition, my husband found a piece of plastic wrap in his food (after it was in his mouth). The waiter offered us a dessert, but at that point we did not wish to eat anything else. We received the bill without another word. I was somewhat surprised that we were charged for the full meal given the quality and mistakes-we will not likely dine there again."

"4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Food, service, all were just right. They gave us a quiet table at our request. "We made a reservation here solely because we were staying at the attached hotel. The setting is beautiful--even on a bad weather day. Food was ok, nothing bad, just not remarkable. The seared ahi tuna came with green vegetables and capper-relish that was overwhelmingly salty for the fish. Beet salad was delish! Main issue is we were sat in the 'Kids' section. We are a young couple out for a special occasion and every table around us had young kids. Most of them were well behaved, but not all if them were using 'inside voices' (and babies were being babies). Tables were available elsewhere...and we had a reservation. To sum it up-good place if you are staying at the hotel, but I wouldn't go for a special occasion because of the atmosphere."

"The food is good although not great. The menu seems overly ambitious in both price and execution. But the quality of the food was rendered nearly irrelevant by the awful service. The service was extremely slow and surly. It took more than an hour from the time we ordered to receive our entree with no apology, explanation or even a check in by the server. The menu and prices imply a top notch dining experience. The terrible service significantly reduced our enjoyment. We will not be back."

"Went there for Restaurant week and was expecting a bit more. Food was ok but nothing that really blew us away. The creamy onion soup was not creamy at all and very under seasoned. The crostini with salsa where ok but not great. The pork loin with musturd had hints of being amazing but not enough sauce to carry the dish.
Overall, would come back for happy hour on a sunny summer day (more for the view than the food)."

"Bin on the Lake was a very pleasant surprise. Well laid out for maximizing the view of the lake from all the tables and the bar area. I was wanting a special place to celebrate Easter with my girlfriend and I definately found it. The wait staff are very good; attentive without being overbaring, considerate with suggestions for meal and wine. The food was excellent! Eveerything had a fresh taste and the presentation was mouth watering. I really liked the wine selection and that smaller amounts could be ordered allowing us to select several different wines through the meal without having to drink full glasses of each. All in all, we had a very nice experience and will definately keep this restaurant on the list to revisit."

"We had a lot of high hopes for this place, but there were a few things that make it just average. It does have an extensive wine list, but that means they have no draft beer. They only have bottled beer and they have a very limited selection. If you are a beer drinker, it's not ideal.
The service wasn't great. It wasn't bad, but it was slow. They had different people bringing out our stuff, but then there wasn't follow up right away from our server. It was little things like brining lemon for the oysters on the half shell that we didn't get until we were 1/2 way done with the dish. The follow up on dishes and it took us an hour from sitting down until we got our main course. It was just slow. They were clearly understaffed."

"The food was great... but the service (from reception to wait staff) was incredibly slow and not responsive. We had reservations... but were not even seated (or even updated) until well after our reservation time had passed. The restaurant appeared to be in chaos, and staff was not able to respond (though there appeared to be sufficient numbers of wait staff). Additionally, the staff had difficulty remembering orders, particularly wines that were ordered, and never got these right. If you don't mind great food and bad service, this would be a great place to go... though with the price of items, one might desire more than a meal with a view... perhaps some attention to detail would be appreciated."
