MATC Cuisine Restaurant
Cuisine Restaurant is Milwaukee Area Technical College’s student operated find dining restaurant. The restaurant features a full scale menu including appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts. Food is prepared by students in the Culinary Arts Program under the supervision of Culinary Instructors.
American cuisine with a European touch often characterizes the menu selections. Customers are
always welcome from the community to dine with us. For a unique dining experience, book the ‘chef’s’
table (up to 6 guests) for a nominal fee of $10 added to your check. Reservations are recommended.

"Have eaten at Cuisine several times but on this visit, the second last day it was open in May, the room became very full shortly after my group of 3 arrived at 11:30. My dining companions got their soup promptly. I didn't order a starter and had to wait over an hour for my first bite of food, a main dish, so I was famished by the time my plate arrived. All of our food was wonderfully tasty and presented beautifully. I think that the room was extra full because folks were trying to get in a last visit before the restaurant closed for the summer."

"This was our fourth time dining at Cuisine and, as before, this meal out did the previous. The menu was full of exceptional items, from ostrich to salmon to steak, all cooked to perfection. The sauces were wonderful compliments to the proteins they accompanied. Our server Reuben was personable, professional, and knowledgeable, recommending the perfect combinations of course items to make our meal exceptional. Having dined in many of the 5 star restaurants in Milwaukee, we can truly say that the dining experience at Cuisine is of the caliber of any of these "Top Chef" quality restaurants."

"I am only sad I just discovered this place 2 weeks ago and now they are about to close for the summer. A co-worker and I went for lunch and we had wonderful food and great service (sometimes too much. The manager tried to take my friend's plate 3 times while she was still eating) LOL! The salad with Apple cider vinaigrette was so tasty. The chicken was moist and flavorful and the Brown Butter Macadamia nut tart was sinfully good!
These students are skillfully trained not only in their food preparation and execution, but also the front of house. I am excited to come back in the Fall. Keep up the great work!"

"First- time visitors, and surely will return. Convenient inexpensive parking at Bradley Center, subdued elegant decor with pleasantly quiet ambiance, and very tasty food served surprisingly promptly. Superb Spicy Tomato and Blue Cheese soup, well prepared plump mussels in pleasant wine apple broth, interesting and very flavorful moist chicken in Chicken Tagine with ample couscous. Hanger Steak served medium rare as ordered, with favorable pesto mashed potatoes. And moist sinfully rich Salted Carmel and Chocolate Mousse cake capped a most relaxing mid-day meal. Wait staff all attentive to their tasks. All in all, an hour well spent!"

"This is the 3rd time I've eaten at the MATC restaurant(The 2nd at the new location.) As usual the food was very good. The portions very nicely sized and sent out in a timely manner. My husband and I both found the setting very restful and very easy to have a conversation.
Anyone coming here has to remember that the staff members are students and there can be problems. Enjoy the food, the dining room and your companions and any problems become minor.
PS We definitely are coming back again."

"It is a surprise to find fine dining on the main floor of a technical college. It is even a better surprise to find that the food is first-class as is the service. Our party of three came for lunch and were treated like royalty. The servers were gracious and answered our questions with information worth taking home and using. Two of our party had steak, which they said could have been cut with a butter knife. Desserts were beautiful and delicious.
As a side benefit, parking is available in the Bradley Center. In rainy weather, one can walk across the covered passage from the third floor of parking to the second floor of MATC. If you ask for a parking token when paying your bill, parking at the Bradley Center is only one dollar."

"Beginning with the welcoming greeting when we entered the restaurant to the farewell mint when we paid the bill, these students understand the high standards expected when working in any fine restaurant. Servers were friendly and smiled, were attentive to replenish beverages, served from the right and cleared from the left (yes, there is a difference), and were knowledgable about their culinary program and the food. Now on to the food. What a treat! Perfectly dressed arugula salad with fig and goat cheese, sautéed grouper with a beautiful presentation side color and exact degree of doneness, a whole grain pilaf and a delightful blend of baby green beans, fennel and matchstick carrots all artfully presented! Save room for dessert! Yummy!"

Short ribs were good but a little too fatty for my taste. French onion soup was delicious as was Salad Nicoise. And the creme brulee was excellent. At the end of service, he rang up the bill incorrectly as was a pkg. deal for the Prix Fixe."

"750 characters are not enough to fully describe the number and frequency of the disappointments we experienced at MATC's Cuisine Restaurant on Thursday, February 28, 2013. If this is supposed to be a training ground for future restaurant chefs, cooks, servers and support teams, perhaps MATC should begin with creating a training manual for each position. It would also help if these "students" were supervised. At no time during our excessively drawn-out lunch did the head chef walk into the dining room. No one asked us how we were enjoying our dining experience, and finally, there was absolutely NO critique or comment card presented to us. It is clear that MATC does not want any feedback."

"Cuisine ... at a student's price! Sadly, no wine list but it is the MATC culinary school not somalier 101. Get there! Reservations are a must! Parking is available in the Bradley Center for just $1 so don't fall for the $3 lot to the north. You don't need it."

"This is the first time I've been to the new location. The remodel was quite nice. I've always enjoyed the food and that has not changed. This was my cousin's first experience at the Cuisine Restaurant in a decade and she was extremely satisified - said the fish she had was the best she ever had.
The only downside that I saw is that the bakery has moved also and is not located as conveniently to the restaurant. Since it is a special trip downtown to the restaurant or bakery, having both located near the other would have been helpful. Better directions from the restaurant to the bakery are needed."

"The china and accessory dishware (butter holder and individual creamers) were of interest to us. The restaurant manager, when asked by our server, was gracious and very informative in answering our questions about them.
This was our first visit to Cuisine, and we were very impressed -- particularly, with the food. While the menu was understandably limited, the selection was varied, and each dish we tried was unique and flavorful.
One suggestion: Online information should include details of the parking promotion offered."

"The menu was very interesting and the food was very good. It was fun to watch what was happening in the kitchen via the large TV screens. Parking was easy in a structure right across the street, which connected to the restaurant building by a ramp on the second floor. We received a parking voucher for only $1.00 from the restaurant."

"This is a very interesting place to have lunch, because it's run by students enrolled in the MATC culinary program. The best part for me, as a life-long caterer, was watching the kitchen action on the big screens in the dining room. The menu was limited but thoughtful, with choices for non-meat eaters. The food was very tasty and obvious care had been taken in the plating. Service was friendly. The restaurant is not easy to access, but worth finding and supporting."

"Surprised that the MATC Cuisine Restaurant is now located on the first floor neat the Sixth Street entrance. We were about to go to the former location when a faculty member told us of the change while waiting at the elevator. Appreciated getting the $1 parking token.
