"Sushi quality is always among the best you can get. Plating is beautiful and masterfully created. Service is polite, attentive and well organized. The chawan mushi is one of the best you will find and they always have blufin toro that is exquisite. The prices aren't for the faint of heart but if you love the best of quality then price dosent matter."

Review 3 for Kyo-Ya
Overall Rating
(Outstanding)
"It was a very pleasant experience for my friend and me. We particularly appreciated the fact that we were able to eat in the waiting room instead of the dining area as my friend was limited on time, and the management graciously consented. We enjoyed the quiet and private atmosphere and the outstanding service we received."

Review 7 for Kyo-Ya
Overall Rating
(Very Good)
"As usual the sushi quality at Kyo-ya is well above par. If you like chawan mushi this is one of the best you will have. It's a perfectly cooked egg custard with ginko nut, mochi, unagi, and green onion topped off with uni. Service is always polite and courteous. The prices are up there but if you want high quality this place won't let you down."

Review 9 for Kyo-Ya
Overall Rating
(Good)
"I was visiting San Francisco and had heard Kyo-Ya had the best omakase, so I went to check it out.
The place was a bit hard to find because the address showed that it was inside The Palace Hotel. However, the entrance ended up being outside at a corner. The decor was a little better than average, suitable for a business or a romantic meal.
I had omakase at the sushi bar. It was a little disappointing to my LA standards. First of all, it was a small, fixed portion. Second, it was served all at the same time. In my experience, omakase is always served one by one until you are full. The sushi was still above average in freshness, however, I would go else where if you are an omakase purist, especially given the high price."
