In the midst of 1000 acres of one of the world’s premiere horticulture centers, 1906 at Longwood Gardens offers a fine dining experience that is unparalleled. Enjoy lunch daily and dinner seasonally with a view of the Longwood Conservatory and the gardens of the former du Pont estate.

"I love dining at the 1906 whenever we visit Longwood Gardens. The dining room is elegant and the service is quite wonderful. Outdoor seating is available when the weather is good. Everyone in my party loved the food, ranging from crab cakes, steak, and grilled salmon. I had a glass of peach sangria which was delicious, and the banana crème brule was scrumptious. I highly recommend this exceptional restaurant."

"Loved our late lunch at this restaurant. We ate on the patio. The weather was perfect, and so was the mushroom soup, the baby beet salad, the burger and the mushroom pasta dish. We also enjoyed the peach sangria. Service was wonderful - everyone had a welcoming smile and our waitress was knowledgeable about the dishes and very proficient. We are looking forward to our next visit."

"1906 at Longwood Gardens provided a lovely setting for a celebratory birthday lunch. The food was excellent -- don't miss the mushroom soup! We both had the crab cakes which were full of jumbo lump crabmeat and NOT filler. The cabbage and fennel slaw was light, crunchy and delicious. Our server was warm and friendly without being over the top. A wonderful lunch!"

"The food was spectacular, both in presentation and in taste.
My only complaint was that the chocolate pot cake was rather dry. Presentation of the cake was photo worthy, but disappointing in tase.
Our table was very close to the kit hen entrance / exit which I found distracting, (even though there were other tables available)."

"The Hostess at the hostess stand always seems a bit stiff and did not note my Open Table request for no middle of the room tables when seating us on top of 3 other full tables in the middle of the room. When I requested a window seat, she obliged a little grudgingly, but led us over to the less crowded, more pleasant table. She did come back and apologize for not seeing my note. Our lady server was fine, if not somewhat indifferent. The food was delicious and the 4 of us enjoyed our meal very much. Front of the house needs more work."

"We were disappointed in the crab cakes. It was supposed to be lump crab meat but I didn't see any lumps.. Also they were very salty. Two small crab cakes and some cold slaw was not very much for $27"

"This restaurant has been long been a favorite of ours. The food is always amazing, beautifully prepared & served and they strive to keep the menu "fresh" & new. Many of the dishes use ingredients grown either on site or locally - try the mushroom soup - deliciously different from any other! Many of the fine wines are from area vineyards. The service is always top notch and the dining room is beautifully appointed and located in a beautiful wooded setting.
Although you must pay admission to the gardens to enjoy the food & ambiance of 1906, you will do yourself a favor by strolling through the peace & serenity Longwood Gardens offers before or after your meal (or make a day of it by doing both). You'll find yourself returning time & again."

"The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed the outdoor patio dining on a well shaded patio. The noise level was very quiet and the service was outstanding. "Unbelievable! I and the rest of my party had the most delightful lunch on Saturday. The outside eating area gives a wonderful sense of privacy! One would not know that there were thousands of guests at Longwood Gardens. The food was delicious and unique and the dessert was phenomenal."

"We love dining at 1906. We've been there four or five times and always look forward to returning. Great food & friendly service. It's not easy to get reservations sometimes for this small, upscale restaurant located inside beautiful Longwood Gardens. There is an outdoor patio for expanded seating in nice weather, but we've not experienced that. If you like mushrooms, be sure to try their signature mushroom soup. You can also ask for the recipe! If you visit Longwood and are not familiar with 1906, you may not even know it's there. When you enter the building where it's located, there's a rather large cafeteria-style restaurant that is also very good. Many new comers don't look beyond it and see the table service restaurant nearby."

"I did not care for my meal. I ordered the butchers steak. I like my steaks well done but when I asked for med well then waitress said the cook recommends the steak to be cook med. It was not cooked enough for me. I do not like to see blood in the center. It also had a lot of grizzle."

"1906 works very hard to create a "high end" experience within Longwood Gardens and generally succeeds very well -- this restaurant is much better than many of the local eateries we've tried outside the Gardens. The menu changes seasonally and on our recent visit, included a delicious artichoke flatbread, beautifully done sea bass, and a trendy pork-belly concoction, as well as a nice selection of wines by the glass or bottle. Service was attentive, accommodating, and professional. On a nice day, you can sit outside surrounded by trees; inside, the decor is bright and sunny. All in all, a good experience if you're visiting the Gardens, and possibly even a destination if you're in the area."

"Longwood Gardens doesn't need an outstanding restaurant in order to attract visitors, because the place is a treasure. But if you're going to house a restaurant, why not let it be top shelf? And 1906 surely is. You can't make a bad decision on the menu, especially if you aim for something with mushrooms in it. Truly outstanding food."

"We made reservations for a 1:30 lunch on Sunday. We planned a walk around longwood before eating. The food was quite tasty. 3 out of 5 of us ordered the french toast which was a delight and even had chocolate in it. Two of us ordered the steak which was also delicious. It was a treat to try the "compliments of the chef" selection as well."

"The food was worse than dinner food. The lump crab cake tasted like fast food or frozen supermarket fare.

"Before coming here my wife and I had no idea what we were missing. We've been going to longwood gardens for years, but finnaly decided to stop at the 1906 for her birthday dinner. The staff was friendly, and on point the entire time, and the ambiance was very easy on the eyes. We had no idea there was a level of food so far beyond what we were used to having. My wife had the goat cheese omlet, and I went with the jumbo crab cakes. All I can say is it was the best meal I have ever had. They also, have excellent mixed drinks like the white peach. If your on the fence about giving this place a try, I would highly consider going, it's a great experience."

"I love eating here! I try to come every time I'm in the Gardens. The chef is a genius, and the food is incomparable. The menu changes often, but one thing that is always there is the Kennett Square Mushroom Soup - it's famous for a reason! The staff is very attentive without getting in the way, and the dessert course is not to be missed. By all means, take an hour out of your visit, sit down, unwind and enjoy some delicious cuisine!"

"Our reservation was prior to a concert, and the drinks, meal, dessert, and coffee were elegantly and efficiently served so that we never felt rushed but were finished dinner in time for a leisurely walk to the conservatory. The food was delicious, there were three choices: meat, seaford, or vegetarian; and the portions were well-sized. A "compliment from the chef" was a tasty addition we much enjoyed."
