Since welcoming its first guests in 1773, The Red Lion Inn has earned a reputation for outstanding food and genuine country hospitality. Those traditions are continued today by Executive Chef Brian J. Alberg, whose kitchen features contemporary cuisine that is rooted in the region's history and harvests. Emphasizing the use of fresh, local ingredients and a huge proponent of buying locally and sustaining the region, Chef Alberg regularly updates the Inn's menus to reflect the bounty of each season. Guests choose from the elegant Main Dining Room, the cozy Widow Bingham's Tavern, the casual Lion's Den pub, or, in warmer months, the flower-filled Courtyard. The wine list offers 200+ selections, and has received the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for seven consecutive years; Sommelier Dan Thomas helps pair wines with meals. *The Inn accepts reservations for the Main Dining Room & Tavern only - please specify your preference in the Special Requests for Maitre D' section.
"We came to the Red Lion Inn to celebrate a 50th birthday. We were greeted warmly, seated promptly, and the staff had no problem switching us to another table further from the door. Our waitress, Kristen, was friendly and attentive and made good suggestions. The wine was good, the food selections imaginative and well-prepared, and of course there was a candle on the dessert at the end (and the restaurant treated us to dessert!) The total bill was much less than we had guessed. And of course the Red Lion Inn is a historic treasure, so the ambiance was warm and pleasant as well. Great job!"

"We always stop into The Red Lion Inn to check out the gift shop and visit the cat whenever we go through Stockbridge, but this was our first time dining there. Our lunch was delicious! The ingredients were incredibly fresh and the dishes were expertly executed. The NE clam chowder is a must try."

"I reserved the table stating it was our daughter's 13th birthday. When we arrived, the staff all greeted her with "Happy Birthday." The food and service was excellent and the kids menu was perfect. My daughter complimented the chef and the chef sent out chocolate covered strawberries to her. It's always the little things you remember like this which will bring us back there to dine again. :)"

"I have eaten here several times and always appreciate the relaxed and lovely ambience. The prices are starting to feel a bit high and I may save this experience for just special occasions. The food is good with enough choices."

"The service was great & food very good. However, we were in the Tavern. There are 2 rooms in the tavern. WE were in the Second room at a small table near the wall, with not a lot of room around us, near the bar. Would not recommend that table."

"Been going there for years. The dining room is very warm and cozy, perfect setting for a Fall evening. The food is excellent, but it is on the more expensive side. Service is excellent, very attentive and the wine list is impressive. It is all part of the experience of staying at the Inn. It is kid friendly but for the most part, it's mainly an adult dining crowd."

"The staff at the Red Lion Inn is courteous, helpful and friendly. We had a toddler with us, and were always made to feel welcome despite the commotion that an 18th month old can create ! Poor Simon, the cat, was probably glad to see us leave !Service in the dining room and tavern was very good, food good.As a family, we would visit the Red Lion again!"

"My wife and I went away to celebrate her birthday. I asked for a quiet table and were given a quiet table for two. The food was excellent and we shared a desert which when given our bill was told it was on the house. We ate to quiet piano playing and could smell the fire from the other room which reminded us when we were caretakers for an estate in Rhinebeck, NY. Very nice evening."

"We had a very pleasant lunch at Red Lion. Little things -- quality linen table cloth, cute table light, blue willow china pattern -- as well as the friendly, attentive service and the diverse menu including old-fashioned favorites (pot pies!) and more modern options made our visit special. Sometimes even one dish combines new and old: My trout with quinoa and chard was fresh and contemporary, but topped with a traditional crab gratin. It was delicious. For a winter lunch, nothing beats a table by the window where little radiators work their magic."

"This is everything you would want in a romantic, snow covered New England Inn. The fireplace is crackling in the lobby, people lounge in front of the fire with a glass of wine, while the Inn's sleepy cat purrs as he snoozes by the fire. Across the lobby is the entrance to an elegant dinning room where friendly servers await your every need. The menu is short but has some very nice choices. I had the roast pork, which was perfect. My wife had the prime rib. It was wonderful. This is indeed a destination dinning spot, and if you have time....spend the night!"

"Food better than you would expect given surroundings. Appetizers more creative than main meals. Wish there was a better way to separate couples from families. Doesn't matter how late you dine you'll find children, which doesn't make this as romantic as it could be."
