Darlington House is a historic Row house that has been transformed into a multi-level restaurant & lounge in the heart of DuPont Circle. Fabio and Patricia Beggiato have poured all their passion and training into every aspect of this house and created a lively restaurant serving rustic yet refined Italian cooking using simple, fresh organic and sustainable ingredients. A breathtaking urban scape through bay windows in the main Dining Room and Circle Bar (1st floor), make this one of DC's most charming dining rooms. The Cantina Pub (street level)is a rustic, casual and family friendly neighborhood bar with great Pub Grub, TV's & a delightful outdoor patio. The second floor Library is a perfect venue for your next private affair; seating up to 70 & receptions up to 150. Exquisite cocktails and an extensive and thoughtful wine & beer list make Darlington House the perfect place to relax with friends & neighbors. Brunch is served every Sat & Sunday.
"I recently went to Darlington House for a work related lunch. Not only was the venue adorable, the service was great and the food was amazing. They make their own olive oil and it is absolutely delicious. The restaurant was busy, but I don't know if a reservation would be required. Even with a good amount of people, the noise level was low. Their homemade pasta was delicious and they were generous with the vegetables and salmon. I will definately be going back and recommend it to all!"

"The dishes were tasty, but the service did not complement them well. The servers seem disconnected & out of touch. They continuously forget items such as toast & potatoes & as they were serving us, they seemed so lost & confused that as we were handed our dishes we felt like something was up...sounds funny now, but it was irritating. The hostess was fantastic & if it wasnt for her, our bill wouldn't have been split as we asked it to be & reconfirmed it several times because we knew they needed the reminder.great food though, present it in a way that does it justice."

"I used to love Darlington House. Great ambience, great food, and walking distance to all the major clubs/bars for a post-dinner drink. I was here over the weekend with friends and was thoroughly disappointed with the food. The stuff was just bland. Two of us had pasta and it came out like something from a TV dinner. I don't think I will be coming back."

"Met up with an old friend at Darlington House, upstairs in the dining room. It was my first time there since the place was Pizzeria Paradiso. The waitstaff were friendly and patient (we gabbed a lot). We weren't crazy boisterous, but were probably the loudest pair there. The food was wonderful. Mr friend got pasta with a spicy red sauce & was impressed. I had the burrata & a side of amazing garlic spinach. We both finished up with the donuts, which were out of this world. (I'm not typically a donut person, but wow.) The wine was pretty darn delicious, too. I'd go back time and again."

"I went with a group of three friends on Easter Sunday for brunch. It was cold and I was traveling home that day, but the staff was able to check my coat and baggage during the meal. The french toast was fabulous! The only thing I wish was that there were bottomless mimosas! Would definitely come back here the next time I'm in town!"

"A great find where the old Childe Harold was, I would recommend this to anyone looking for great house-made pasta and good simple Italian fare. The freshness and quality of the ingredients is this restaurant's outstanding food feature. The ambience is quiet and understated, a good place for a romantic meal."

"My fiancé and I recently dined here with out-of-town guests. All were pleasantly satisfied. I ordered the gnocchi, which was vibrant and flavorful. My fiancé ordered the shrimp linguine with lobster, a special. Our server, who I believe is the manager, was attentive and friendly. We are members of the WAMU membership program, which offers dining rewards at many local restaurants. The manager honored our two-for-one entreé discount without issue. I recommend Darlington House for special occasions, as it is a wonderful place to bring out-of-town guests to enjoy a flavorful Italian meal."

"My hubby and I came here for my birthday and it was awful. The first thing that went wrong was we were the only people in the restaurant and when the next 2 guests arrived the host sat them at the table right next to us; there was an entire restaurant open and you had to sit them right next to us, come on! There was clearly some kind of arguments and awkwardness going on between the waiter and the other staff members, and definitely some kind of hostility with the busboys...very strange. The only reason why I am giving a 2 star is because even though it was EXTREMELY overpriced, and very uncomfortable, the food was pretty good. All and all we will not be back!"

"we went for mothers day brunch- nice touch that they gave a free glass of champagne to all. The food was good, but the serving size of the veggie delight was pretty modest.
the wait staff were very nice, although they did make a few mistakes with the order and did not advise the last member of the party that the rest of us had been seated when we asked. despite high numbers of serving staff they did not seem to be able to handle the volume. If you are in no rush, it is fine though. it was a pleasant atmosphere and good food."

"I always feel welcome and well taken care of at Darlington House. The vibe is so different from the dark, yet enjoyable pub in the basement. More sophisticated, but still relaxed. The menu is big enough to appeal to almost anyone, but not overwhelming."

"We were looking forward to brunch at Darlington House but were disappointed overall. There was a mistake with one of our orders, which would have been fine had the correct one arrived sooner. It didn't come until after the I was finished with my meal (we were a party of 2). They should have made the correct order a rush one; that they didn't made them seem like amateurs. The Hangover Helper (steak and eggs) isn't anything special either. Thankfully the city has so many other and better brunches options available."

"First and foremost the food was outstanding. My daughter who lived in Rome for three years said it was the best Italian food she has had in the two years since she has been back. We sat outside and the front of the tanning place next door was a stopping place for smokers Also, the waiter was not attentive and had to be asked twice for a refill of water and iced tea, neither served cold when finally delivered leading to third request. The food made up for all though, especially the homemade pasta served al dente, not mushy!"

"Overall, This experience was disappointing. I went with 2 friends for brunch and the service was very slow and the food was below average. I ordered the french toast which was very dry and my friends both got omelets which they thought were just average. It took us over 30 minutes to get our food when the restaurant was less than half full. the only thing that saved this experience was that this restaurant is quite lovely, nicely decorated in an old Victorian home."

"The home made pasta dishes were great, and the sides we ordered were quite good as well. The place seemed understaffed as things were forgotten or took a long time to arrive. If this place invested into its service on busy nights it could be a real great place to visit."

"Ran out of LaCrema Chardonay. Sorry, no chocolate gelato. Pasta dishes are better at Olive Mill. Who came up with the ugly swag lamps and Soviet Union style wiring. Lots of work to do before this place meets muster of top flight Washington restaurant. T Culligan Washibgton, DC"

"The restaurant was very accommodating to our group of 20 however we had to be divided into two seating locations to make it work (16+4). Overall space in the restaurant is tight in general but manageable. Brunch menu was great and had a wide selection to accommodate our group of meat eaters and vegietarians. The service was exceptional and overall wait time for the food order was on par with other locations that have large group orders. Very conveniet, especially during march madness, that there is a bar downstairs that can be accessed from the main dinning floor"

"i thought the food was very bland. it wasn't bad, just not memorable. however - the service and interior of the space was very nice. maybe i just had a very boring dish (bucatini pasta with the tiniest clams you've ever seen and sausage). the fresh bread was very good."

"The food, for whatever reasons, did not match the hype, Specifically, the pasta was over cooked to the point of being soggy and the sauce lacked flavor. It's a great location and has a very busy bar scene on the lower level fueled by reasonable happy hour bar prices."

"I was torn between 3 or 4 stars - 4 stars for the food and ambiance but 3 stars for the service. We had a reservation but didn't need one because the dining room was open. It was strange because there was one person actually taking orders and at least 5 stumbling over themselves to serve the food in a small space. The individual who was taking the orders was attentive but brusque. One of the party had expected what was advertised on the web site menu which did not at all match the limited menu we were provided. But we all enjoyed the food. It was worth the try but with so many places to choose from because of the experience it would not be the first place I thought of to return to unless I lived in the neighborhood."

"We had a wonderful Sunday night dinner at Darlington House. The food was delicious, perfectly prepared and presented, with many vegetarian options. Our server was attentive without being intrusive and made helpful recommendations on wine and dishes. Darlington's atmosphere upstairs is elegant but comfortable. The piped-in music was a little bit loud, but our group of five was able to carry on a conversation without raising our voices. We look forward to trying another dinner or brunch."

"I would definitely recommend this restaurant. It is a little small but very good. Our wait staff was very, very good but the main waiter did forget a soda someone ordered. It was not a big deal water is better.
There were two things that could be better.
1: The dinner menu could be a little more kid friendly. When you have out of town guest who want I nice meal but it maybe just be a pasta dish…it should be on the menu. I will say that they did make pretty much whatever we asked of them, which was great!
2: There is NO handicap accessibility. People with babies or a walking disability are not able to enter the restaurant unless they are carried up the steps. All in all very good place to eat."

"The food and service were good but the tables were crammed in so close together that it felt awkward. Enough so that this alone really colored the whole experience. I'd recommend this place if you could get a decently separate table, otherwise skip it."
