"Always love the food, although one of our group thought the pork was inedible. Better to stick with the fish selections. However will not be returning because the waiter got lost several times. Were seated a good half hour before he took our order. Then never returned to ask how food was and then we had to find another server to find our waiter to get the check. Very frustrating!"

"We ordered the tasting menu. Portions were just right for enjoying several courses. Everything was well prepared, artfully seasoned and presented. Pacing was somewhat rushed. Service was adequate but they were not particularly pleasant. Overall, I will take great food over friendly service but they need to slow the pace. A nice midtown option."

"Great way to escape to what feels like a foreign local in the middle of a work day in midtown. Great guacamole, empanadas and paelle. Excellent Service even when I made non-traditional requests like a virgin mojito and a to go cup for my mexican chocolate infused coffee (excellent by the way)!! The outside patio seating is really nice with portions of shade or sun depending on your preference. Food - Service - Ambiance = a trifecta for perfect lunch - definitely my new favorite spot :)"

"I went with two friends and got the tasting menu with wine pairing. The food was outstanding. I usually expect some "drama" with a tasting menu with wine pairing - an explanation about the food, why the wine was chosen, etc. However, this didn't happen, they just came over and plopped the food on our table and poured us some more wine. Again, the food was outstanding but the service was lacking. I would say the (relatively low) price of the tasting menu alone probably reflects the "quality of service" discount; so maybe I should have gone in with lower expectations. I would also say that this place has some interesting drinks such as a margarita with chipotle and smoked sugar cane. I'd say check this out for the foodie aspect."

"Good food, perfect portions not too big but enough to make you full. Service was off had to ask several times for guacamole and drink orders. There's a lot of great places in the area so they need to perform much better to keep with the competition.

"downstairs. I eat there regularly, and made a lunch reservation last week but was stuck at one of 3 tables downstairs next to the bar. It is an unattractive area and they forgot we were there so we had to get up twice to get service. This shockingly bad treatment spoiled this restaurant for me. Trying to squeeze a few more tables out of the downstairs bar is a really bad idea."

"We were celebrating a birthday on a beautiful evening in NYC. Open tables direct link to Pampano on maps sent us to w46 instead of e46 th. needless to say we arrived late. The staff was very curtious and sat us as soon as we all arrived. No one rushed us at any time. Our food was outstanding. All 5 members of our group enjoyed their meal."

"I had very high expectations of Pampano. I believe that the service is not up to par with other similarly priced restaurants in NYC. The food was good but I was expecting dishes with more flair, no delicacies were available. Mexican food has so many opportunities and there are so many delicacies that are not being exploited. Too bad the Mexican Food Chefs are not being adventurous.

"My lunch guest and are both ceviche "addicts" and were not disappointed with our choice of"3 ceviches". This menu item provides the opportunity to choose a generous sampling of 3 of the 5 ceviches that are listed on the menue. Between the two of us we selected the tuna, the shrimp, the halibut and los mariscos (mixed seafood). All we're prepared with different ingredients and all were excellent, and extremely fresh, which is arguably the most important single consideration when dining on fish prepared in this manner.
Will definitely return for lunch and/or dinner soon and will have the ceviche again!"

"We had a great time at Pampanos. We got the sampling of 2 dips for appetizers. The guac was Ok. We have had better guac before. But the smoked swordfish dip was excellent. For entree, I got the salmon in tomato sauce. I loved it. My wife got stuffed peppers. It was good but we liked salmon much more. The chocolate flan desert was awesome.

"This was probably our 8th or 9th visit to Pampano. The food is consistently good and all of the friends we've dined with have agree. Sadly though, over the course of our visits we've noticed the portions getting progressively smaller. On our favorite dish in particular, the chipotle-miso cod piece, was literally 1/2 the size of the pieces we'd gotten when we first started coming to Pampano. This is disheartening because we used to boast about how great the food was AND how fair the prices were. Unfortunately, since the prices have remained unchanged in relation to the portion sizes, the latter is no longer true."

"Was excited to come here to try the yucca fries and they did not disappoint! They were not overly fried or greasy and had just the right balance of sweet and spicy! The service was also excellent - very attentive but not too pushy or in your face. We also shared the guacamole - solid, though a bit small, portion size wise. The only negative thing was the limited wine by the glass list and the steep prices. The restaurant itself is very nice, sleek and modern. Would definitely come back, esp. for the yucca fries!"

"We enjoyed a wonderful dinner here. Interesting entrees, good ambiance. We gathered as a group in the cozy bar downstairs, then migrated to the roomy upstairs for our dinner. Would definitely come here again."

"The food is sublime. Ceviche is absolutley the nicest I've had in a while.

"The food, setting and feeling of the restaurant was perfect. The only drawback was that they had a menu posted for Valentine’s Day, but when we arrived they said they are not offering that menu. I showed them the menu on my blackberry because I wanted to make sure I wasn't mistaken.
Our server actually informed the manager without me asking and they offered us complimentary items for the inconvenience. Which I felt was very nice and fair of them. The manager also took it upon himself to make sure our table was taken care of several times in the evening. The chef even sent over a swordfish taste that was excellent.

"Great for seafood lovers. Interesting cocktails. Wines are expensive. Winter prefix menu seemed like a good deal but we ordered from the regular menu. The mahi mahi ceviche was not what we expected but ok. We had cod with miso and paella which were both very good. We would go back in summer to enjoy outdoor seating area."

"Have been to Pampano many times. Always had a great experience. I've introduced a good number of different people to Pampano and they've always enjoyed. In fact many have returned on their own. The outside dining area is fantastic in the warmer weather."

"Pricey. Some of the food items were excellent - the ceviches, the octopus starter, and the scallop entree come to mind. Our waiter pushed the lobster tacos hard, but they were about $3 per bite and didn't have a lot of flavor. The mushroom, onion and goat cheese flatbread was also a tad bland. Restaurant policy is 20% gratuity automatically added for parties of 8+, but we were only 6 and they did it anyway - a bit cheeky in my view."

"It was just what I wanted---a delicious lunch, for a reasonable price, and in a quiet space. Upstairs was much louder with the "hip" crowd but that's not what we wanted so were glad we had the quiet downstairs."

"I can not say enough good things about the food. We had a late lunch and the restaurant was no longer crowded. As a result, I can't fairly assess the noise level and wonder if the service would be as attentive during a peak time. That said our waiter was fantastic."

"Really was disappointed here. We were a party of 3. only 2 people ordered drinks and they were very disappointed in the size of the drink. One guest actually brought it to the waiters attention. He asked if they wanted mor vodka for additional charge and they said they wanted more vodka without additional charge because the drink was sustandard to start....so started the eveneing.
Then we asked for the Restaurant week menu, only to be told that it was for lunch only.
I ordered a salad and entree, portion size was OK. My guests ordered salad to share and three (3) appetizer portions. They were hungry at end. They could have ordered entrees for less probably gotten more food. IMPROVEMENT IS NEEDED"

The best thing of the night was Gerardo our server.
He was the best, rest was extremely busy, but Gerardo has a great personality.
The appetizer order was incorrect, Gerardo gave us anothe appetizer on the house.

Service is EVERYTHING.
If you are very hungry, this is not the place for you. Big Plates, small portions."

"Great job guys. I did the three corse restaurant week lunch- CEVICHE DE MARISCOS, CHILE RELLENO DE MARISCOS, and CHOCOFLAN. Of the three courses- the ceviche was the best I've ever had! the Chile Relleno De Mariscos was beautifully presented and hearty. However, the chocoflan wasn't quite what I expected. The consistency was more like a cheesecake. I personally would have preferred something a bit more traditional. We also had the guacamole and the smoked swordfish dip. Both were excellent- especially the swordfish. For drinks I had the SUGARCANE CHIPOTLE MARGARITA- a bit smokey from the combination of Mezcal, chipotle, and grilled sugarcane. I really enjoyed it."

"We have now been to Pampano twice in one month. Our experience was the same each time: superior in every respect. The food is phenomenal: delicious and surprising and beautifully plated. Portions just right. Fresh, fresh fish, a perfect command of the use of spices to add specialness and originality to all dishes. The wait staff is so lovely: knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and clearly proud (as they should be) of the place they work in and the food they serve. The place itself is like a trip to another city (Miami, maybe? Havana? Key West?) and another climate. We love the palm-frond fans and the bas-relief giant palm trees on the walls. A true find."
