"Michael's on Naples has become one of our favorite restaurants and more than worth the trip down the 405 from West LA. The list of wines by the glass and quartino alone sets this restaurant apart from all but a handful of fine restaurants in its class. We had three of them, and each was outstanding. The food and service were no less stellar, as always. We gush about this restaurant because it gives us something to gush about.
We plan to return again and again."

The wines were perfect with each dish and the service was superb. We could not believe 3 hours had gone by! It was the perfect place for our birthday celebration."

"We were 9 guests the night before Mother's Day.Server rushed us. Menu took a while to read through plus was a European style menu with several courses to choose from. Wine list confusing as well. Ordered flat-breads for appetizers and were fabulous. Salads were fabulous. Entrees were great but portions were small for the price. Charged$1 per bottle of still water (we used 9 of them). They were pretty bottles but were obviously refilled for repeated use with tap water.
Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant for a group (families). We had three young adult males with us. It is clearly better for just one or two couples considering the prices. I would return with my husband and possibly with another couple for fabulous Italian food."

"I was totally wowed by Michael's. Started out with 1/2 price wine on their great rooftop patio during Happy Hour, then went downstairs for one of the best meals I've had this year. The grilled octopus salad, gnocchi with oxtail and dessert trio were all fantastic, with the almond cake that came with the dessert trio being the highest of the highlights. Great food, excellent service, attractive setting, this place has it all. Next time I'll arrive earlier so I can spend more time on their rooftop patio and explore their huge wine list and tempting appetizers."

"We booked a reservation about 2 months ahead of time, but we called ahead to say we would be 1/2 hour late, we were told no problem (we arrived even earlier than we had said). We waited another 45 minutes then were seated like lepers in an isolated room, where we sat by ourselves almost our entire meal, while the rest of the diners enjoyed the nice dining room (I don't think we were locals). The food was very good, and the restaurant did take very good care of us, but we paid almost $50 in taxi fares to get to/from the restaurant, we were on vacation. We will not be back, and we will not recommend the restaurant, you get only one chance to make a first impression..."

"Read some reviews and decided to travel some 40 miles to Long Beach to try it out and was very pleased. Exactly what one should expect from a fine Italian restaurant. "We are regular customers at Michaels and it never disappoints. We ordered the Grand Prix prix fixe meal and it was outstanding. The first course, an octopus salad, was one of the best dishes we have ever eaten. The second course, speck-wrapped diver scallops were cooked perfectly and delicious. For dessert, we chose the canneloni. There weren't too sweet, but very tasty. We asked our server, Joanna, to pair wines with the meal. I'm normally a red wine consumer, but the three whites, all Italian, were perfect matches with the food. Service was excellent as usual, and the whole experience was memorable. In fact, we are going to return for a winemakers dinner in a couple of weeks and are already looking forward to it. Thanks Michaels."

"There is no view what so ever, you are closed in a covered room and the two party tables do not have room for food and drinks. The steak was very but I didn't like the potato and there was no vegetables. For the hype it didn't meet up. Unfortunately I had a mishap while I was there (I lost $225.00 as I must have dropped it when I paid the tip (22%). I called to see if it was turned left message with a person with no call back. I called a second time and left a second message with a person and the call back was two hours later than they said it would be. This had no effect on my review of the dinner. I will go back to try the pizzeria !"

"A very nice looking restaurant with very good food but over priced in many ways, $13 for a bowl of soup should not have cost more than $7 even at a fine restaurant. The tables for two people are very small and very close to your neighbors. The menu should have included standard Italian fare such as lasagna, spaghetti & meatballs etc. but instead seemed to be somewhat complicated as to what you were ordering. Gourmet is fine but some people just want simple Italian fare on the menu as well. There are just too many other fine restaurants in the area with better prices and more space to eat in than to return to this restaurant again. For those that don't mind spending lots of money and dining in cramped spaces this restaurant would be fine"

"This was my first visit to Michael's. I admit the Zagat rating was the initial reason for selecting the place for my anniversary, but I soon realized the place is legit. From the minute you walk in the service is prepared for you. Promt seating, a champagne trolley arrives to pour tableside a selection of no less than 4 bottles of varying quality bubblies! The prix fixe menu is balanced and well thought out and priced reasonably for the couple or family of four. Please make this a destination on your next outing in Long Beach."

"Went to Michael's again and had a better experience. The night started poorly because we were seated at 5:30 p.m. but our waiter was apparently not alerted to our presence. We had to flag a waiter after about one half hour because it appeared they were going to let us sit there forever. The waiter was very apologetic, and we ordered the Chef's Tasting Menu which was excellent except for the dessert course, which needed some improvement. Additionally, we got the tasting menu with wine pairings, which were also excellent. All in all we enjoyed the evening."

"The last couple of times I have been in Michael's has shown a real drop in the level of service. It may be that they are understaffed on busy nights but then they should hire more people. Waiting to get our drinks ordered, waiting for the waiter to take our order, waiting for him to open the wine, waiting for bread. The waiter was pleasant and professional but attention to our needs was not as evident. Hopefully they will improve in this area to match the high quality of the food."

"Michael's of Naples is a very nice, fancy Italian restaurant in Long Beach. I moved from Milan (Italy) 5 years ago, Michael's of Naples reminds me elegant restaurants in Milan, the atmosphere is very friendly and food is excellent. I can say this is the only real Italian restaurant I've been in SoCal since I moved over from Italy.

"We chose the Michael's experience for a 100 point wine to share with friends because Michael's never disappoints. They have a delicious menu that has both favorites and new additions with fresh, seasonal ingredients. I look forward to pasta because I have never had better outside of Italy. This is the only restaurant where I always order dessert because their selections are innovative and satisfying. The servers are knowledgable and delightful. It's the go-to special occasion restaurant."
