"Waitress was rude the entire evening. Took 3.5 hours to get through dinner. Most all of the food selections were amazing except one steak that was under cooked. When asked to be cooked a little more it came back microwaved and un-edible."

"Portland Prime should not have attempted a Mother's Day brunch without some serious consideration of how to do one. Terrible menu printed on a sheet of paper right before we got there, 3 items on the menu, guy mopping the floor after we were seated, waiters complaining within earshot of the customers....the list goes on and on....
I have always had good luck with Portland Prime for client lunches and thought it would be a sure thing to impress my bride on Mother's Day...instead it was an epic fail."

"We had a reservation and arrived 15 minutes early. There was NO ONE else in the restaurant and instead of seating us in the nicer restaurant side, they sat us in the bar area (?!?). It took the waiter quite a while to come greet us and the (bad) mood was set. The food was good, but I wouldn't say the experience overall was."

"This was our first time to Portland Prime dining room; it'll be our last. We've had drinks and food in the bar several times and have always been happy with the food and the service. However, in the dining room it wasn't the same.
The steaks are very expensive, and the service and quality do not match up to the high cost. The waitress spilled the wine when pouring into the glass from the little mini-carafe, not that much by itself. Then she brought out the wrong salad, though she did take it back and bring out the right one.
My friend can't have dairy and the kitchen substituted asparagus for the mashed potatoes. They didn't substitute anything for the sauce that was supposed to be on the steak. Lots more to say but no more room"

"Food: Good but extremely overpriced for the portion size. For example; shrimp cocktail consisting of 4 shrimp was $16. I ordered the tuna steak which was no steak at all. It was 6 thinly cut pieces, similar to a sushi order of tuna. No weights associated with the steaks??? Service: Each course was rushed; we were expected to order our entire meal upon sitting regardless of this being our first time in the restaurant. For Example: My husband was on his last couple bites of his salad and the waiter had our food ready. Instead of simply waiting until he was finished before bringing the meal he proceeded to stand at the table with his hand on his hip holding my husband’s plate of food awaiting his completion. Rude."

"They offer a well thought out menu with a great selection. The consensus around the 7-top table is that everyone really liked their food (on our table we had a variety of fish tacos, soup, salads, steak, fish, and sandwiches). Some had been there for happy hour prior, but agreed that it is a place that is easily forgotten about unless frequented into dining out routine. Great service, expected low noise level; surprisingly quiet even though right near the open kitchen. We would definitely choose for a business lunch destination again."

"Overall our experience was good. There was a large party of people at various tables on one side of the restaurant. The staff put up screens, but the noise level was quite high and very noticeable to us.
The food was fairly good. We ordered the Dungeness Crab Cakes as an appetizer. I must say I have had better and these were very fishy tasting. My daughter and I ordered the Flat Iron Steak and it was very nicely done. The presentation was nice, as well. My husband ordered the Prime Baseball Cut Top Sirloin. It was good, but had a lot of grisel and fat. The Prime Chopped Salad was very good and the beverage list was very diverse."

"We ordered a T-bone and expected much better especially from their description in their menu and the restaurant's name. The meat was tough and tasted unseasoned. The waiter was nice. It was very noisy especially since we were seated near the kitchen. Their mashed potatoes were very good and the palette cleanser sorbet was an interesting touch but we came for a good steak and sadly, they failed there."

"Some of the best service I have ever had. I like my steak done well (very well). My girlfriend ordered prime rib (looked like cow napping on the plate it was so rare). I was asked to check my steak upon arrival. It was not done enough. They took it back and returned a few minutes later. It was still a bit too red for me. They took my steak, my girlfriend's prime rib and our side dish completely off the table. A short time later they returned with a perfectly done steak for me, a brand new prime rib or her and a fresh side dish all hot and delicious. The wait staff was always friendly throughout. I have never had such excellent service and effort to get the meal exactly right. All of this on a busy Valentine's Day evening."

"The experience was great! The food was incredible! The price wasn't out of this world either, so that was a plus. It was a chance encounter with a great restaurant. I would highly recommend it. Also, the table next to us was very picky - they sent 2 steaks back (which was both ridiculous and hilarious) and the waiter/staff never made a face or commented. Our food was amazing and didn't warrant being sent back - but knowing that we could if something were wrong or not to our liking is a plus too."

"The service was excellent. Atmosphere was great. Food was just okay. It wasn't horrible or unedible just not anything you would be in a hurry to go back for. We sat in the lounge and the live jazz music made the evening very enjoyable."

"I recently went there for an engagement dinner. Our service was amazing and the mood was just right. We both had the special New York with crab, it was incredible and sold out fast. I would go back to Portland Prime anytime I'm in the area, so good! Don't forget to order the truffle Mac and cheese! To die for!!!"

"The food was good, not great, but better than average. We found it more noisy than we were anticipating, but perhaps that is because it's a hotel restaurant and we were unaware of that. We found it strange that some entrees came with one side and others didn't. As a result we ordered one side to share and then shared the mashed potatoes that came with one entree we had."

"this was a very nice restaurant---the food was very good the steaks over done but i had read previous reviews so we ordered rare when we wanted medium rare ---we enjoyed entire meal--one suggestion might be to plate the steaks better --they arrived one steak on one white plate --no garnish-nothing ---it was alittle odd -----drinks were wonderful"

"We went here because we had a gift certificate but we likely won't be back. Although the experience wasn't bad, it wasn't memorable, and for the money, I would go elsewhere. Their cocktails were good, as was the roasted crab and artichoke dip. My husband had the ribeye steak, and I, the flat iron steak. Although the waiter indicated the steaks were so tender we would likely not need our steak knives, such was not the case. The ribeye was very good, and my flat iron was just so-so, prepared in an Asian marinade and a little well done at the ends. The house salad that preceded our meals was very good. Still, for $120 (including a glass of red for each of us), I think we could do better."

"The food was exquisite, service was very attentive and the ambience was great. We are not big eaters in our family and eat smaller portions. We split two entrees, Prime Rib and Short Ribs, a wedge salad between my wife & I, a side order of string beans and two deserts for the two adults and two teenagers. We had enough food for the 4 of us. I’m glad we split the meal otherwise we would have been stuffed and would have taken a doggie bag home. If you are big eaters, order your own plate. If you are a small portion eater, split the plate. We will have Portland Prime on our return list of Portland Restaurants. The occasion was our son’s 19th birthday.Thanks you. Tim M of Beaverton"
