Esin Restaurant and Bar
Esin has been a neighborhood jewel since opening in 1998. The name Esin is not only the name of one of the owners but also means “inspiration”. The food is the passion of Chef & Owners Curtis and Esin deCarion. They strive to create cuisine that is fresh, seasonal, and prepared with great care. The fare is American with bits of Mediterranean influences. The wine list has been recognized by Wine Spectator & Wine Enthusiast magazines.
Esin Restaurant & Bar relocated in July of 2008 to the Newest upscale lifestyle center The Rose Garden in Danville. The freshly designed dining room offers warm and comforting tones.

"We went to their special Fathers' Day dinner though we didn't eat any of the specials. Food was attractively plated and well served. Wine list was so extensive we opted to try the white and red flights. Dessert was outstanding as was the Port flight. Excellent evening."

"Esin Restaurant and Bar is truly a neighborhood gem. The decor is tasteful, the staff friendly and professional, and the food sublime. We have been going to Esin since it was in San Ramon and then moved to this location in the Rose Garden. The quality of food has remained high and it is our favorite restaurant in Danville. Don't forget to order the lemon meringue pie - nothing like it anywhere!"

Typical main course runs between $20 & 35.00 - Be prepared to spend at least $200.00+ for a party of four, but well worth the price.
Every bit as good as a "fancy restaurant" in S.F., but in your own backyard. I've been there 4 times and not disappointed yet! Give it a try next time you are looking to dine out."

"Esin was a wonderful experience. A simple but upscale lunch with my young kids and my parents was made something to remember by the outstanding service and excellent food. Kids can be trying, and waiting for the extended group to all arrive can be aggravating for a restaurateur, but the folks at Esin never bat a lash at the 30 minutes it took for our party to complete. They provided us with exemplary service and spectacular food. I'd highly recommend Esin Restaurant & Bar for a special occasion that will be enjoyed by all."

"Another pleasant dinner at Esin. The caesar salad was ok, the romaine was not very good. Onion soup was good. The moussaka was excellent. The risotto was not hot enough and a bit uninspired. The fruit tartlette was good, once I saved it from the bowl carmel sauce. Why do chefs think every dessert has to be sitting in or covered with a sugary sauce? A good dessert should stand on its on merits, not all that added sugar."

"The service is always great, but the wait-staff in the bar especially. They always give helpful suggestions on wine and even let you have small taste first. "I've been to Esin several times for lunch and dinner and I am always impressed! The decor definitely bespeaks fine dining yet the atmosphere is definitely more welcoming, less "stuffy". The reservationists are always cheerful, accommodating and helpful when I'm trying to schedule lunch meetings or an anniversary dinner. The wait staff is impeccable; very knowledgeable and thoughtful. It goes without saying that the food is phenomenal! The ribeye and Mary's filo wrapped chicken are alwaya flying out of their kitchen! Eat here!"

"Took a friend to Esin for dinner on a Friday. The service was top-notch and everything we ordered - fantastic. Who would have expected shrimp & grits to be so delicious? The moussaka was especially good.
We both strongly urge the restaurant to include a list of the specials each evening - first course, entree and dessert. By the time the server left us, after reciting them, we were in a fog!
Would love more wine flights. A Sauvignon Blanc would be lovely. Not a Chard fan. BTW - our server was really knowledgable about everything.
The apricot galette was a knockout!"

"Totally over ate and for once was not sorry because every bite was special!! Had the seared ahi starter - so delicious just thinking about it makes me want to jump in the car and go back, the onion soup - perfectly balanced and superb, and the lamb chops with moussaka and artichokes which could not have been more perfect. "Haven't been to Esin for a long time but wanted something close by for a week-night dinner. The food was exceptional, service excellent, atmosphere perfect to celebrate our anniversary.
We had:
Meze platter - nice assortment of spreads
Salmon special - cooked & seasoned perfectly and served on a bed of amazingly tasty cous-cous that had sweet white corn, green olives, cherry tomatoes.....YUM!
Day boat scallops & shrimp - Not as good as the salmon, but still very good
Coconut tart - spectacular!
Lemon tart - not quite lemony or tart enough for my taste
We had:

"The three of us had a fabulous lunch in a relaxed setting outdoors! Both the service and the food were truly outstanding - -particularly the salmon salad and the steak sandwich !

"As usual, wonderful food, service, and ambience - highly recommended! For Mother's Day, we had dinner for 4: salmon, rockcod, bay scallop, and a cheese dish. The scallops was declared delicious so did the crab cake appetizer; the cheese texture gooey to spread on bread; rockcod could be fresher and tasted bit salty with dab of capers on top; salmon was good except we wish the fish was not piled on top of the accompanying greens. We shared some mussels -- it was yummy and tender! So full that we took out a mousse dessert."

"Why make the schlep into San Francisco to impress out of town guests? We can stay right in Danville and have a great dinner from beginning to end. The three of us had appetizers, wine and either salmon, lamb chips or pot roast, then wonderful desserts and coffee. Everything was fantastic. They went away impressed! Karen Khemist"

"One of our favorite places to eat. The food is well prepared and presents well.
Service is very friendly yet professional. As you arrive the entrance door is opened for you, which is a nice touch.
The restaurant in nicely accessorized and the tables have a fresh covering, not just wiped down.
The bread pudding is exceptional."

"We're very pleased we got to know this establishment. Our first visit and we'll be back. I had requested a private, romantic booth for our party of two....and though the place was quite busy, it was there waiting for us; though it could have seated 4 very comfortably, they held it for us anyway. Much appreciated and a nice way to start off our evening. Things just got better from there. From a very nice initial greeting, to wonderful service by our waiter. Food was excellent, each course even better than the last. Highly recommend this establishment and we'll surely visit again."

"We have been going to Esin since it was located in San Ramon. This location in Danville is definitely a step up and provides great ambiance, an open, airy dining area and comfortable seating. Everything we ordered was quite tasty and not at over-the-top prices for a fine dining experience at lunch. Our waiter was the only issue and a slight one at that. He was knowledgeable and efficient but didn't always listen well. One example: my husband ordered a decaf, I said I wanted one too. The waiter brought one coffee for my husband but not for me. I then said never mind and he showed up 5 minutes later with my coffee, then said, "Oh, you didn't want it?" Minor point but worth mentioning. Otherwise, excellent overall. Will visit again."
