Piazza D'Angelo is a family run business with a long history. In 1980, two brothers from the southern toe of Italy moved to Marin with dreams of opening an authentic Italian restaurant. The dream came true a year later when co-owners Domenico and Paolo Petrone opened the now upscale trattoria Piazza D’Angelo. Over the years, Piazza D'Angelo, has become the most popular restaurant in downtown Mill Valley. They are known for wonderful Italian cuisine in a warm and friendly setting.
"The food, service and atmosphere was excellent, as always!"

"We are long time patrons of this Mill Valley classic. This year on Mother's Day it did not disappoint. Very friendly staff. The Petrones are a class act! Food and drinks superb. Ran into many friends. Long forward to coming back again and again."

"Perhaps not the best choice on Mothers Day. The restaurant was packed, very loud and warm. Which I didn't mind. Thank you to our great server and assistants. We had to track someone down for the wine list, ie the hostess. The food was good, but my pizza came late after everyone entrees. To the point where I had to say please eat don't wait for me. Our server caught this and fixed it right away. I think the entrees could work on presentation. They looked like they could use a little garnish or something besides piling noodles and sauce on a plate. We were satisfied yet unfulfilled."

"Piazza d'Angelo is a favorite of locals. The location is perfect, as is the ambience. The owners are Italian, take a great interest in their customers, and contribute greatly to the community."

"My Wife and I had two salads, two entrees (granted I had a pasta dish as my entree, which was very good), and one desert including a decent bottle of wine (under 40.00) and we left well fed and happy with our meals for a touch over 100.00. I would say that is a bargain. The special ravioli was very good and her seafood "soup" had plenty of seafood and just the right amount of heat to it. Everything was very good. Worth going to I would say."

"Eveyone in our party was disappointed. The place looks great. The outdoor dining could not be beat. Service was friendly. Food presented well but the taste was mediocre at best. We started playing a game, rating each dish from 1 to 10 and no one gave their meal over 5.5. Pizza was almost tasteless. Soup seemed off a bit. Pasta was almost tasteless. Will not go back."

"Whenever we go to the Marin Theatre we have dinner beforehand at Piazza D'Angelo. The food is excellent and the ambiance lovely. When you sit towards the back of the restaurant, the atmosphere is quiet and conversation is easy. The restaurant provides a very nice pre-theater experience and this is our consistent choice in Mill Valley."

"We always love going to Piazza D'Angela and made the drive from Berkeley just to eat there. It is a place we take out of town guests and are never disappointed."

"Calling the noise level "energetic" is an oxymoron. The place is friggin' loud. But I expect that's how most like it and why it was packed (and hot). Noisy places have "buzz," apparently. But I also like to hear my partner. It was almost impossible to have a conversation."

"We love the Piazza D'Angelo. We had a baby with us, and we like the fact that the tables are far enough apart that no one is disturbed. The baby liked it, too, because of the pleasant atmosphere, and it wasn't too loud. Food was excellent, I had the duck (very tender) and everyone else loved the pasta!"

"We've probably eaten here at least monthly (with take out at least that often as well) for fourteen years. My ONLY complaint is that I miss some things like the butternut squash ravioli from the "old" menu. Otherwise I'm a happy, loyal customer."

"There was a special menu for Carnivale de Venezia and it was really delicious. There were 6 of us and we all loved everything we ordered. The only down side was the restaurant was chilly and it was difficult to get warm during dinner."

"Awesome apps -- carpaccio, burrata, fritto misto. Fresh house-made pastas and pizzas are always good bets -- the funghi pancetta tagliatelle was to die for. Kitchen was very accommodating for members of our group who have rigid dietary restrictions.
But it's so noisy, it's difficult to hear someone next to you, and impossible for anyone across the table."

"Another special evening at Piazza D'Angelo! It's a vibrant restaurant, yet quieter if you ask for the upper section. It's romantic, yet kid-friendly for the Mill Valley clientele. We have never had a questionable meal there since the first day it opened, many many years ago. We always order seafood or roasted chicken and have found it to be fresh and uniquely prepared and presented. I had a beautiful dish of sockeye salmon on top of an artichoke puree and romanesque broccoli. Delicious. One friend, from the City, who joined us loves Piazza. He has special eating needs and they always adjust preparation for him. It was a pleasure chatting with the owner who stopped by our table and even called over the gracious chef to have a foodie chat."

"waiter was a dud. managers were not engaged. not attention paid to our special request that we filled out in the open table reservation.
better for a lunch, not dinner.
the red wine was served way to warm. How hard is it to serve wine at the proper temp? and our request to chill it down for a few minutes was a challenge.
Wine country restaurants need to get their act together and stop serving pinot noir at 75 degrees"

"festina lente. we enjoy the italian hospitality and the authentic italian staff. our son had his wedding party there and returned 10 years later to have a party for his parents and the neighbors. but years ago when you first opened we had to share my salad with a live caterpillar."
