Berryhill & Co.
One of Boise's most popular fine dining hot spots started in 1998 as a tasting room for chef and caterer John Berryhill's event clientele.
The sexy 110 seat downtown restaurant boasts 18 ft. ceilings and a mass of windows that open to a gorgeous courtyard with outdoor dining for an additional 40, and comfortable lounge seating with live jazz pianists every weekend.
A locally and globally infused Northwest menu is host to hors d'oeuvre offerings and affordable lunch and dinner selections from steaks to fresh seafood and pastas.
An extensive wine list showcases Northwest wines including Idaho's own Snake River Valley Appellation. Specialty cocktails and drafts are popular from the bar which includes a weekly afternoon Happy Hour, or watch a game in our 'Plan b Lounge' next door.

"Thank goodness for the person refilling the water because that was the only great service we got. Waiter was average and it didn't seem busy. My husband ordered the macaroni and cheese because of the recommendation. We didn't think it was very good. The pasta had no flavor. The bacon was the only good part about the meal. Also, not impressed with the steak salad."

"I took my wife to here for our first wedding Anniversary. We like trying new restaurants and we realized we never tried Berry Hill before. It was a great atmosphere and the live piano music was lovely. My wife had the prawns in some pasta and I had the Kurobuta pork chops. Both dishes were marvelous. I had a similar dish in Chandler’s a year ago and this was far tastier. The only issue I had was that our entrée took a while to get to us. Our server was polite and said they were working on it however my wife and I are familiar with the restaurant business and we noticed other tables that were sat later than us had their entrées served before ours. This happens when a server forgets to ring up an entrée after they added a horderves."

"This was our second time at Berryhill. Both times were after the Boise half ironman to celebrate our daughter's finish. We were so excited to return this year after a awesome dinner last year. Some disappointment this year ,as we ate later, but the service was very slow for us. Two tables next to us got their food and were gone before we were served. We all arrived at about the same time. It was after 10 when we ate and we had gotten there by 8:45. I think we will return next year and give it one more chance"

"Decor is elegant. The wait staff was friendly, couldn't answer my questions about the wine list but good about getting the info for me. Food was rather disappointing. The Salad was drowned in dressing, the scallops were over cooked."

"I made reservations at Berryhill and asked to sit on the patio since it was going to be one of our lovely Boise evenings and the Berry hill patio is a perfect spot. When we arrived we were told that the patio is a first come seating and we were the only people sitting in the restaurant. There was a table that was set for 6 on the patio and when those who had reserved that table came, they were seated on the patio. So much for first come…. Service was fine, food was good but prices are high and the wine list has few offerings less that $50.00. We probably will not return."

"The food was good for a brunch but over priced - disappointed given the reputation of the restaurant. Please note that my family dines out often at full service restaurants and money is not a concern when quality and service is given. Even though it was Mother's day I felt that small Mimosa's for $5 was a bit high but given the special occasion it was ok. It was surprising that much of the buffet consisted of cheaper dishes that were below the normal quality of this restaurant. The omelet and meat station were good for added variety though, so again just ok. My biggest concern was the bill - we had to correct it twice for a double charge and for adding a guest - completely inexcusable for a professional establishment, makes you think."

"I love this restaurant. However, I always order the same thing - which I love of course - but it is because I have trouble finding anything else that I want to eat. The selections tend to be high calorie and most include some kind of cheesy risotto, linguini with cream sauce, added sauces, etc. I prefer what I call "clean" food. A meat or fish dish without all the high-calorie creams and cheeses added. I have discussed this with friends and find that many have this same difficulty. How I discovered the dish I love, seared beef salad, was a recommendation from a friend who overcame her frustration with the menu when she ordered it.
That being said, my husband and I go back again & again. Thanks for great service, wine and atmosphere"

"This is a great restaurant for business dinners. The tables are far enough apart for some privacy without the formality of a private room. The ambient noise is just right. One of our guests had special dietary requirements. The server patiently explained the various options and how the chef could adjust the dishes to meet her needs. Everything came out perfectly. The Melange starter was a big hit for all. Something for everyone."

"Beautiful restaurant went for Sunday Brunch. Enjoyed the excellent choices..smaller than some buffet brunches but the options were plenty and delicious. The bacon cheddar scones and the biscuits were amazing. Scrambled eggs and made to order omelets..red potatoes fresh fruit were all top quality. Carved roast beef and the bacon were delicious. Quiche choices were also good. Desserts were small but very tasty loved the raspberry bar."

"The food was good but we all felt it was quite expensive for what you got and if you're going, make sure you have PLENTY of time. They are very slow - we were there for 2-1/2 hours and had to skip dessert. We were late for the party we were attending."

"From start to finish, our meal was spectacular. Our water glasses never emptied, drinks were brought as soon as they were finished. I had one of the weekend specials- a chicken dish with coconut curry- it was out of this world and is basically all I've thought about since. "We celebrated our 10th anniversary at Berryhill & Co. The online reservation system worked perfectly including my request for a nice table (for two). The setting is beautiful with lots of natural from the large front windows. Eric Grae was fabulous on piano and initially the restaurant was quiet and relaxed. Our food was delicious and service from JD was excellent. His suggestion of champagne was thoughtful and we're glad we had some. The restaurant was just starting to get full as we finished and took our dessert to go. We enjoyed it at home. Overall, it was a great dining experience and we'll return again.

The waiter knew absolutely nothing about wine, could not answer our questions about the menu items, was inattentive, and to top it off, forgot to return my credit card upon payment -- we had to go looking for him (AND the credit card)! The piano music was overbearing and sounded like Musak. We won't return."

"The food was very good. I had to ask for a hot bowl of soup. It was not hot in the serve yourself station. Main disappointment was the bacon. What was served was very good but it was spicy with red pepper flakes. Would have liked another choice that wasn't spicy.
Price was high, twice that of other restaurants. Kids pricing was way too high especially when there werent kids food choices. We made a reservation with Berryhill but were seated in the sister restaurant "Bacon" that is much more casual."
Price was high, twice that of other restaurants. Kids pricing was way too high especially when there werent kids food choices. We made a reservation with Berryhill but were seated in the sister restaurant "Bacon" that is much more casual."

"We always enjoy the atmosphere and food at Berryhill. The brunches are great, and especially at Easter. Our waiter, Garrett, was excellent. He was attentive, helpful, and friendly. We have friends who made their reservation a bit later than we did, and the staff rose to the opportunity to seat them at a table next to ours. Nice."

"We dined here on Valentines day and the place was obviously very busy. It is a very nice place, but the food pricing is high compared to like restaurants in Boise. When we ordered our meal, the waiter asked if I would like scallopes to go along with my Filet, I ordered a side of scallops. I recieved 2 scallops the size of a quarter and was charged 8.50 twice for the two scallops. They were very good but not worth $17. The steak I ordered had a lot of gristle on one edge, I would think the chef would have trimmed it better. We have dined at this restaurant several other times and food and service was better, so maybe the extremely busy night was the culprit."

"My girlfriend and I ate at Berryhill on Valentines Day. Upon entering the hostess greeted us and took our coats, which were hung on a rack just next to her. We were promptly led to our table in the back, passing a pianists playing upbeat classical music and a small bar with a couple well dressed twenty-somethings drinking and talking. We continued trough a wide corridor which led to large dining area with another pianist. The overall atmosphere was romantic and rusty-modern. Think of the Berryhill logo, the 'B' statue outside. That style is throughout the restaurant. Our waitress was kind, funny, and attentive. She wasn't at all stuffy, like servers often are at fancier restaurants."

"Overall, we would not recommend Berryhill. I ordered a steak medium rare and considering it cost $50 I thought it would be close to that. My steak came seared but very rare when I cut it open leaving me more than disappointed. The fennel overpowered any flavor the steak itself should have had. My wife had the split pea risotto which tasted like bland, overcooked instant rice. Her halibut was under-seasoned and no sauce on the plate. The appetizers, asparagus bruschetta and the sizzled shrimp, were mediocre. Price isn't an issue for us if the food is delicious. Unfortunately at Berryhill it was not."
