Moody's Bistro Bar & Beats is the place in Truckee for great food and atmosphere. With soulful music and delectable regional mountain cuisine, Moody’s gives visitors an experience reminiscent of the casual supper clubs of the 50's with a trans-generational style. The cuisine is fresh, seasonal and simple.
Moody's is all about accommodation, offering different dinning experiences that fits multiple purses and wallets budgets with service that is superior and friendly. "First time in Truckee - Surprised by the creativity and zest for a great summer meal. Excellent service, great wine list, fresh fresh food and a staff that is clearly happy to be at Moody's. Doesn't get much better. Some pretty close tables, but worth getting to know your neighbor for!"

"…and a sophisticated menu. We shared three courses, Yellowtail Ahi poke, a Dungerness Crab and Avocado Pizza and a seasonal spring vegetable platter with pea tendrils and quinua (sp?).
The wine options were interesting and reasonably priced. This a very special place, close to the center of this charming little town and near I-80."

"Though not busy, our service was indifferent and almost rude, had to ask for a drink, was given 3 minutes to look over menu then asked "so what do you want?", water glass was only refilled after check had been paid and then only with room temperature water and no ice (it was a warm day), even better was when the 'too stupid but im pretty' waiter tried to take my guests' plate before he was done eating! we had wanted dessert but were so ignored and then rushed out that we ended up going to another restaurant up the street to have some. I have eaten at Moody's many times in the past, it has never really been a beacon of service, but the food usually made up for it (and it was always swamped on prior visits)sadly this will be last visit"

"I'd say 3.5 stars. Good food, decent drinks, but a little overpriced. In truckee, there's not too much selection in restaurants so might be worth it. It's a SF like restaurant transported to north lake tahoe, and you'll pay a premium for that."

"The food was great but our service was terrible. Our waiter could best be described as indifferent, though at times even bordering on rude. We got better service from the busboy who brought out our food hot and responded to our requests promptly. I'm not sure the good food is worth enduring the hostility from the server."

"Overall something lacking here since previous visits. Bread (excellent) was whisked away without asking when the mystery amuse bouche was plopped on the table (cauliflower with saffron??) . Crab toast was just ok (too much lemon juice). Short ribs and hanger steak were excellent. Sadly, no more smores for dessert."

"We had heard that this restaurant was quite noisy-and it was. If it fits the mood of your group though it does not mar your experience. We were still able to chat across the table with each other albeit at a louder volume. The ahi poke appetizer was amazing. The waiter graciously gave us more of the delicious won-ton chips to finish it off. Two of us got the lobster/scallop risotto. My scallops were not seared-just white and lifeless, while my friends were beautifully seared. Again they took my plate and had it back in no time-with a only a little bit of brown, but acceptable. The other person raved about her chicken.
After dessert the waiter informed us that the corkage fee was on them because the things that went wrong. Wow!"

"This is a good dinner option after a long day of skiing. Had the mushroom pizza which was tasty but could have used more mushrooms. In terms of quality, it's probably on par with California Pizza Kitchen. Not outstanding, but good. Also tried the tuna tartar which was very good. Service was friendly. They were very accommodating and even though they were busy, they were able to change our reservation from 2 to 5 at the last minute. We were all very pleased."

"went for my birthday dinner wanting fish. had a great piece of california halibut which was perfectly cooked. my husband had diver scallops with lobster risotto, very decadent and delicious, also properly cooked. we shared an excellent chicory salad with goat cheese, pistachios and citrus prior to our meal which was also stellar. the waiter was very knowledgable about wine. dessert menu leaves a little to be desired. maybe they don't have a pastry chef? overall a great experience on a busy staurday night."
