"The food is in general very good (some pieces are amazing, some are just good), the service, excellent, and the presentation of all plates is just unbelievable!!!
My only negative point is on the breuvages... goods but expensive, too much expensive, even for that kind of place! 8$ without tips for 1 bottle of mineral water! one once of amaretto sour for 15.50$!!! that's crazy! The wine, I don't even wanna talk about it... But, price was usual for this kind of restaurant.
good experience to live at least once or on a really special occasion. But 600$ for one supper for 2, sorry, it was too expensive for me, even if some moments was amazing... specially when we can find others very good restaurants in Montreal, north and south shores!"

"Had the Menu Degustation (Tasting Menu). Come hungry and allow plenty of time, this whole experience took about 3 hours. Between the menu and amuse bouches throughout courses we had about 23 tastings. I have had tasting menus in the past but nothing has ever come near this experience - this chef is a genius. Each course was presented so fantastically and nothing was what it seemed, every course was described in detail by the Maitre Di and some of the courses were finished off at the table. At $85 dollars this menu is well worth it and I would highly recommend it if you visit this restaurant. In fact everyone that was dining around us were also having the Menu Degustation. Definitely worth a visit when in Montreal."

"I cannot say enough great things about our meal. The presentation of each dish was unique and perfectly executed, and the food was incomparable. My wife and I had the tasting, and it was non-stop delicious food for three hours. The bill, without alcohol, was $230, but well worth it for the overall experience. They even send you home with some goodies! A MUST GO for foodie-types."

Comme plusieurs nous avons choisi le menu dégustation avec vins où nous avons pu goûter à une farandole d'entrées et de plats tous excellents et présentés de façon des plus créative. Tant de pré entrées et desserts sont à la hauteur des tables étoilées que nous avons visitées et peu fréquents à Montréal . A quand une étoile méritée au chef Ferrer !"

"We booked a table of four for a 21st birthday dinner. Fabulous evening in an elegant setting. "Europea was without a doubt the best restaurant I have ever been to. From the moment we walked in the experience just seemed to get better and better. I think everyone should do the tasting menu, it was a culinary journey to say the least.
The wait staff was impeccable, although I did feel bad for them, it seems as though they are hovered over a lot by management, which made us feel a bit uncomfortable at times. Aside from that, their knowledge on the food and utter professionalism was great to see.
I can't wait to return to Montreal just so I can visit Europea again!"

"The Degustation Menu (10 courses) was incredible! It was the best bargain, tasting menu I've ever had! It costs $99.50, which is astoundingly worth it. I've eaten in some of the best French restaurants in the US and Chamonix, France (Per Se, 11 Madison Park, Le Bernadin, Albert 1er, etc...), Europea Restaurant of Montreal is on par with all of these places. Seriously, I will go back to this place in a heartbeat when visiting Montreal again!"

"We discovered Europea almost by accident two years ago and were so blown away we had to go back. Our second visit was every bit as good. The tasting menu is an amazingly good value: top-quality, creative dishes served by thoughtful, charming staff. A very knowledgeable sommelier can recommend a great bottle of wine. Hands down, one of the best dinners we've had. I can't recommend it enough."

"Une véritable aventure, non seulement gustative, mais ou tous nos sens sont recrutés et étonnés. Les tagliatelles de calamars étaient absolument incroyables, j'en ai encore la rémanence des saveurs et des textures en bouche. Le poulet au foin, je ne suis pas sur que l'on puisse faire mieux !! Trois "petites" (toutes petites) déceptions:1) Les taglionis à la mousse de lait.....: trop de goûts tuent le goût, au minimum le popcorn était en trop2) Le secret de Maurice Charlevoix.......: était absent ce jour là, remplacé par trois fromages de base.3) Les desserts......: J'étais venu pour le chef pâtissier Jean-Marc Guillot aussi, donc j'attendais beaucoup... et je n'ai pas eu le choc attendu, les desserts étaient OK, mais pas exceptionne"

"Ahem, I have dined in a lot of high end restaurants across North America, so far this is amongst the best, if not the best. Wow , the dining experience is an Art...believe you me I saw a chicken lying in a manger!! Find out for yourself...! Impeccable service, delectable food, palatable wine!! "Bonjour,
Je suis allée à L'Europea en mars pour célébrer mon anniversaire (avec mon mari et ma soeur). J'ai beaucoup aimé l'ambiance et le service était parfait. Par contre, bien que Jérôme Ferrer sous sans conteste un grand chef, j'ai moyennement apprécié la cuisine. Le côté "spectacle" m'a aussi dérangée; un show pour un ou deux plats d'accord, mais quand tout le repas se déroule en mode feu d'artifice, c'est trop.
Enfin, je ne regrette rien: ce fut tout de même une expérience intéressante. Mais je ne renouvellerai pas."

1. Butternut squash soup was too sweet. If you wish to keep it so sweet, you should probably let your older clients know who may have trouble with sugar.

"This was our fifth time doing the tasting menu at Europea. Although we were very satisfied with our overall experience, there were a few items on the tasting menu that did not really impress. Items that left us underwhelmed were the tagliolini with mushrooms and truffle oil (left us with a bitter taste in our mouths)and the broth and dumpling served with the scampi spring roll (a little bland). Everything else on the menu was absolutely amazing as usual. Items that really impressed include the tagliatelle of calamari, the lobster cappuccino, the popcorn, the lobster marquise, the foie gras, and all the desserts."

"Mon conjoint et moi avons passé un très bon moment à Europea, notamment pour la qualité des produits offerts et l'excellence de la préparation. Cependant, le lieu était bruyant ce midi-là. En outre, nous aurions souhaité avoir un plus large éventail de vin au verre à des prix plus abordables. Enfin, nous apprécierions que le système de réservation soit à tout le moins bilingue.

"La multitude d'entremets que nous avons eux, ma conjointe et moi, la chance de savourer étaient tous exeptionnels dans leurs présentations, leurs saveurs, leurs goûts,leurs textures, etc... Dès notre arrivé au restaurant un homme qui doit être le gérant de l'endroit nous a très bien acceuillis et nous a désigné notre place en demandant à un serveur de nous y accompagner. Le service fut, tout au long de la soirée, exeptionnel dans ses petites attentions et le professionnalisme du personnel était irréprochable. L'ambiance reflète bien le style décontracté mais chic à la fois que veut se donner le restaurant."

"This review relates to a Montréal en Lumière dinner with an Argentinian chef.
Our party was disappointed because we were expecting new dishes with an Argentinian flair or dishes with Argentinian flavours which was not the case for most of the dishes served.
Plates were not as subtle in presentation, consistency and flavours as what we usually encouter in this restaurant. Meals are usually more creative and inspired.

"C'est la troisième fois que nous allons à L'Europea pour le lunch dans le cadre du Festival Montréal en Lumières. Malheureusement, cette année, rien de comparables avec l'Edition 2011. Le flétan était très bon, par contre la bavette, bien que correcte, n'avait rien d'exceptionnel pour l'Europea. Et pourquoi offrir une mise en bouche au flétan, quand le flétan est au menu???"

"I was disappointed, given the cost. I took my partner to Europea for lunch for her birthday. The lunch menu was extremely limited with 3 choices of main dishes and 2 choices for appetizers. The food was good but I was expecting great. We had one great waiter and one waiter who never smiled and made us a bit uncomfortable. We were in a dark corner upstairs and I had an open door handle right behind my head. I would not recommend it given the high price."

"Good restaurant although really overpriced. Food is great quality but I personally had higher expectations. Taste was good but lacked finesse and subtility. Emphasis was more on excentric presentations and molecular like food research than on the food itself. Service was ok but nothing impressive. Not that there was anything bad about the restaurant, it was good, it's just that I expected more, especially at that price. For me Le Toque is still the reference, higher standing and better priced."
