Firenze a Tavola
Tucked in the lower level of Parisi’s in North Denver, is “Firenze a Tavola”, meaning “Florence at your table”. In Firenze a Tavola, we recreate hearty, authentic Tuscan and Florentine dishes with an ever-changing menu. Firenze a Tavola offers a specially selected wine list from our cellar featuring some of Italy’s finest. On select Wednesday evenings we feature our signature event, the “Community Table”, where neighbors come to dine together family-style. Community table diners will enjoy a multi-course, prix-fixe menu and "divertimento" (fun). Reservations are available Wednesday through Saturday evenings for traditional dining beginning at 5:30. The lower level is also available for private functions. The private dining room on the lower level seats up to 26 people and can be personalized to your event. "I made a reservation for my S.O. for their birthday. The ambiance was nice, but it was chilly. The waiter helped us having someone turn down/off the A/C, which was quite nice of them actually. The service took their time, which in this case was good, as it is a nicer restaurant and you want to take your time and have a romantic eve. The wine list was relatively expansive. It's all they give you at first, but if you ask, they'll give you a mixed drink list. The mixed drink I got was good, but not $14 good. I ordered the seafood linguine, which was pretty good, and my S.O. order the scallops, which they said were good as well. I will say that the scallops had no sides and were almost $30, which was quite disappointing. Was not blown away."

"Four of us had dinner here before the theater. Three of us loved it, but I thought it was less than sterling. Located in the basement under the casual Parisi, it's nicely appointed, but I felt I was eating in the Catacombs. One of us had the duck and pronounced it "best I've ever had." Another had the Fruitti de Mare, which arrived in a bowl bigger than a tub! She liked it. Two of us had the white bean and kale soup plus appetizers. It was tasty, even though it was entirely without meat, but it was heavy, with what appeared to be big chunks of bread mixed with the other ingredients. The wine selection was adequate. Service was acceptable, but at times the server was overwhelmed with the press of other customers. I will try again."

"My boyfriend and I really enjoyed this restaurant. We tried the duck and wild boar and both were amazing. It's kind of a hidden location, and located downstairs from a more laid back and quick restaurant upstairs.....the ambience was great with candles and how it's set up. The food was amazing. Only comments would be the menu is not too extensive, so if you are looking for a generic Italian restaurant, this is not it...also got kind of loud, which we didn't mind but others may."

"I was disappointed that the regular menu was not available. I had made a reservation for 3/9, one day after Denver Restaurant Week, specifically so we could bring our friends to try Firenze's menu. But Firenze had decided to extend the 5280 menu for one night. Food was good, just several special favorites were not on the menu. Wines are a little overpriced also."

"The service was impeccable. Despite how busy it was while we there, we were never left unattended nor did we feel crowded. The food was a bit of a mixed bag; the wild boar with the homemade pasta was a dish I would return for again and again. The pork shank on the other hand was a bit dry and nothing to write home about. The appetizers were very good, but also very starchy - the gnocchi was made with love, but perhaps it should be an entree, and the pizza bread with proscuitto and cheese was delicious, but in addition to the fantastic bread that comes with the table, it was a lot to start a meal. I would recommend that they serve the pizza bread with every table and skip the other bread. It would definitely set the restaurant apart."

"Apart from wine prices, Firenze a Tavola is great. It's wonderful to find Tuscan fare such as wild boar on the menu. We've eaten there twice, first as guests of friends, and this time taking friends. The boar stew, roasted shank of pork, trout, and appetizers are superbly prepared and delicious. The atmosphere reminded us of downstairs at Trattoria ZaZa in Florence -- lively conversation all around, friendly and attentive service. Parisi upstairs was jammed, making us want to come back for the pizza, but for more leisurely dining and fine food, we'll definitely pick Firenze a Tavola."

"Went here last year with restaurant week with friends and loved it. Had been trying to find a time to get hubby there....we finally made it a year later and it did not dissappoint. My memory was correct - food was great, ambienc is great. Hubby said it was best nice restaurant meal he had in a long time. "Went during restaurant week and was not impressed with the service. (On the plus side another waiter actually brought us our bill and comped my wine in apology for the service.) The food was pretty good, but not great. Enjoyed my trout/strawberry/orange salad quite a bit, my mussels pasta was nothing special, and the tiramisu was very good. The pork shank looked excellent but unfortunately decided not to order it."

"The food was good. Some dishes were very good. The chingiale was not cooked enough and was tougher than it should have been, but edible and not very flavorful. The papardelle was very good. The grilled trout was bland, but well cooked. The soft polenta was well cooked and almost fluffy. However, the prices seem high for what you get. The wine prices are way too high, especially during restaurant week. It was pleasant but we probably wouldn't go again unless there is an unusual dish offered, such as ribollita or caciucco. We might try Parisi, which is upstairs."

"Fantastic restaurant week offerings. Restaurants like FaT (and Vesta, as another e.g.) deserve support all year round as FaT offered above-average plates, well-chosen flavors for traditional fare, and quality ingredients, especially the prosciutto. Tables are close but felt separate; service pleasant but not overbearing. Since it was Restaurant Week we'll forgive the pork meat used for an osso bucco look-alike dish."

"Unique and delicious dishes for Restaurant Week! We spent 2-1/2 hours there and never felt rushed by our server. She paced us beautifully and the food was stunning. A bit challenging to find because its not quickly obvious it's in the same location as Parisi, but being in the garden level felt cozy and welcoming."

"We had never been to Firenze, but was pleasantly surprised by the food, atmosphere and service. The waiter mistakenly brought the wrong bottle of wine and poured the wine, however I did not notice the mistake. He discovered his mistake and brought the correct bottle and poured it also. Very thoughtful. We will diffenently return to Firenze and recommend it to others. We were not familiar with the neighborhood, but thought it was a place we would like to explore."

"Very nice selections and good portions for 5280 menu. Will go back to try their regular menu. The gnocchi appetizer was very tasty, tho the gnocchi was a bit too soft. Boar meat stew with home made wide noodles was a hit. The mussels with noodles and the pork shank were nicely done. Got a bit noisy as the dining room filled up, but reminded me of a robust Italian dinner spot."

"Excellent food - especially for a 5280 meal - but had to wait almost one hour to get seated after arriving on time for our reservation. Would have been appropriate for the restaurant to have done something special for the inconvenience. Not even an apology was offered - just an explanation that 5280 had put a wrench in the works."

"This restaurant is in the basement of Parisi. It has a cute atmosphere even being in a basement. We went for Denver Restaurant week. The food was mediocre. By all means it was not bad but it was nothing to write home about. I had the gnocchi, braised pork shank and panna cotta. The panna cotta was good but I opted to eat it without the grapefruit segments it came with (not good). My mom and dad got the house classic, tortolini, braised chicken, wild boar pasta and tiramisu. House classic was ok, the prosciutto was not my favorite. Chicken was a bit dry and the sauce wasn't very good. The tortolini and wild boar pasta were good. Overall can't beat the price of restaurant week to try a new restaurant."
