"The veal, scallops and steak main courses were very good. One of my prior favorite appetizers (watermelon and Dungeness crab) was disappointing - zero leg meat, and minuscule amount of body meat. Nice touch to give free desert to my wife for her birthday."

"Bentley's is my go-to place for a great meal or special occasion. The food is consistently high quality and the menu provides great choices. The dessert offerings are some of the best I've ever had--anywhere.

"Dinner was excellent. As was the service. The only negative were the following and they were minor:
1. We sat at a table immediately inside the door to the restaurant. So, it was noisy and had lots of traffic. Would have much preferred sitting away from the entrance.
2. Their beer menu was rather limited to ales and wheat beers. A nice Corona would have been cool!"

"Excellent preparation and attractive presentation of fresh seafood, lamb and vegetables. Though not large, the wine list contained many quite good selections. Everything tasted scrumptious, and it was a memorable birthday celebration for my wife. The wait staff were very attentive and our waitress knew the menu well enough to guide us through all of our courses."

"The company I work for almost always pick this restaurant for dinner with our board of directors. Food here is very good and service is friendly and efficient. "We were looking for a great restaurant and John Bentley’s did not disappointed.
The wait-staff was prompt and attentive and the ambiance was the kind of quiet elegance I associate with fine dining.
I started with the pressed duck with mango salsa. It was incredible! My lady friend chose white prawns over baby arugula. She was likewise pleased by her selection.
For entrees, my companion had the broiled Shetland Island salmon. She especially liked the unusual toppings. I went for the double-cut pork chop. It was huge, lightly breaded and cooked to perfection. It was served with an awesome apricot-cherry chutney.
We both topped off our meal with the sticky toffee pudding cake and a very good cup of coffee. Altogether a great meal!"

Grilled watermelon, dungeness crab, avocado, and jicama: a nice blend.
The special, lamb chops served with roasted garlic mash, and haricot verts. Superb lamb, very tender, outstanding taste.
Grilled and marinated rib eye steak, roasted garlic mash, broccolini, Gorgonzola Cabernet demi glace. Superb sauce, tender tasty steak that pretty much melted in our mouths. On both dishes, the garlic mash was a very nice accompaniment.

"It was our first time visiting as we are fairly new to the area. I read the review on-line and hoped it would be as good as it sounded. I have been disappointed before. Well, we were not disappointed! In fact, we are now raving fans! The food was fantastic and the service was great. One of the best meals we had had in a long time...and we eat out a lot! "I've been to John Bentley's twice - first on a Friday with business colleagues. JB's possesses a relaxed, up-market ambiance that is well-suited to both business and casual dining. The menu is short, though dishes are thoughtfully chosen and well-presented, especially the appetizers - try the grilled watermelon and crab, or the mozzarella and bay shrimp. Service was excellent. I was so impressed I took my family the following Monday. Unfortunately, the service was not as crisp. While the scallops and sweetbreads were quite good, the Hanger steak was tough and and NY steak so-so. JB's scored well with two diners, but not all four."

"Wonderful restaurant that has a very private feel to it the moment you drive into the parking lot. Great food that is not obscenely over-priced for the style and quality of food. Came here for my 3 year anniversary and would come back for dinner again, regardless of it being a special occasion. Highly recommended."
