"...not sure that I would drive acoss town for it, but it is a grat alternative/addition to the DuPont Circle area. Good, sometimes great Mediterranean food. Clearly fresh and not made in bulk, and some fresh takes without being odd. Service was fine, though it was a quiet lunch, so they weren't under much pressure. There is a good prix fixe menu as well. Wish it was in our neighborhood!"

"I could not have been more pleased. They nailed it with the brunch scene. It was a great deal, and we were able to try many different small plates. The drinks were very good, and all items were served/plated with the nicest presentation. I can't wait to go back for brunch again, and show this place off to more friends."

"The food was great! We got there before our reservation, and were waiting on a third person to join, they suggested we sit at the bar :P the inside of the restaurant seemed dark, and the music was super loud and in my opinion bad (house music usually only works for a dance floor). Based on that we decided to sit outside, the service was ok for outside, a little on the slow side but that's what I expect when I sit outdoors (especially when it's a little cool out). The price was on the higher side but, not unreasonable for the quality of food."

"We vacationed in Turkey three years ago and discovered Agora shortly after our return. We relive the experience a bit every time we visit Agora. It reminds us of the many wonderful restaurants we went to in Turkey -- except with a better wine and beer selection. Service is prompt and friendly, the food is great, and the atmosphere lively. It is difficult to get a reservation sometimes, especially when the weather is nice. And, the small-plates format means the tab is a bit pricey -- though worth it! I recently visited the restaurant for lunch for the first time and -- it's a bargain with tasty and affordable salad and sandwich combos."

"After two relatively satisfying dinners here I was looking forward to trying the brunch. However, I certainly will not be in a rush to go back after my experience this past weekend. Despite making a reservation nearly two weeks in advance our party was seated 45 minutes late with no apology. By the time we were seated we were notified that it was practically too late to order "bottomless" drinks because the brunch time would be ending soon.
Our groups' entrees were brought out in 3 shifts at least 5 minutes apart and we were told, "that's just how we do it here". Which makes sense for tapas/small plate service when everyone is sharing, but not when each person is ordering an individual entree, which was obvious to our waiter. After o"

"Agora provides a wonderful spread of mezzes fit for sharing that combine well with each other. Hot, freshly baked pita starts off the meal and goes well with creamy hummus, AMAZING feta cheese, and other mediterannean small plates. Grape leaves offer a well-proportioned appetizer as well. The mezzes with meat (lamb, beef, or chicken) were phenomenal, as well as the Chef's Borek, a fillo dough-wrapped cheesy delight. The service was swift after an initial period of waiting (it was busy at 8 on a wednesday night) and the mezzes came flowing out and didn't stop until we were full. Dessert included delicious moist baklava (some of the best we've ever had) and a layered creamy tart with honey & pistachio bits crumbled all over. Fantastic!"

"After living and traveling in the Middle East we're always thrilled to find excellent middle eastern food and Agora surely delivers. Overall a 4 rather than a 5 as our bill quickly climbed to $200 for 4 people - add tip and it's an expensive meal for small plates. Not enough food for a hearty eater but plenty for an average one. Other than price the meal was terrific and the service was harried but very good. Mon-Fri 4-7 has a better value happy hour menu at the bar so you may want to test out their menu and drinks there."

"I've dined here twice and every dish I've had has been delicious. On my most recent visit, the lamb loin was particularly memorable--flavorful and cooked perfectly. This is place is easily my favorite restaurant serving mezze in DC and I think that in terms of food quality, it gives Zatinya a run for its money."

"I read a number of unfavorable reviews for this place along with the good and most of those reviews had to do with an unpleasant staff. I took a chance because they take reservations on a Saturday night which is unusual and I had somewhere to be afterwards. The restaurant turned out to be more than I expected. The wait staff were friendly and helpful as my date and I were ordering food that was unfamiliar to us. In no case did I see bad behavior and can only guess that the guests who found the staff unfriendly were perhaps being unreasonable themselves. There are 2 sides to every story. The food was great even though I didn't know what I was eating half the time but it was exactly as described. Would I go here again? Absolutely."

"Food was good but the service was horrible. Hostess and management were inflexible in seating 2 of our 3 guests, server ignored us through most of the night, we had to constantly call him over if we needed something. Getting the check took too long. Server wasn't overworked, only had 3 tables in the section. Just seemed like no one cared."

"Although the food is always very good, the hostess was rude, non-accommodating to others and wouldn't seat us until the "full" party arrived (we were a party of 3, 2 were there). As a result we decided we would NOT get a drink at the bar in protest of this stupid rule.
Service was just OK...slow to arrive and greet us, slow with our second round of food and personality of server was less than friendly.
Don't think I'll be going back any time soon...negative vibe"
