"Cafe Milano is fine. The pounded, unbreaded veal chop is excellent...most of the other food is very good. Portions can be too large. The wine list is OK but very expensive. There are relatively few items in a comfortable price range. This probably reflects its power Washington clientele. It is festive, and we go back several times a year, but one often wonders why because the food is not remarkable, the wait staff slightly pretentious, and the noise can be overwhelming."

"I made a reservation for a special night with my wife and from the greet at the door, our table, feeling we were dining in the storage room and the feeling that we did not matter for we are not part of the "in crowd" made for a dining disappointment. The food was excellent, the wine selection was perfect, but the rest of the evening left me wondering why they are recommended."

"Really expensive, and the food was good, but not THAT good. There are too many exceptional dining experiences in Baltimore/Washington that feature food just a good, if not better for half the price. It was really noisy. Why does restauranteurs think this is a good thing? Even if I go to an exceptional restaurant but I can't hear my table mates, I won't go back."

"The atmosphere was more formal than we expected, but perhaps since it was graduation weekend, many were dressed up. Men were in suits and jackets. Its not that we were not dressed up, but we thought the atmosphere would be more casual. Since the Obama's ate there, we thought the service would be more attentive. It felt a bit rushed."

"If you're wondering if this place is all that, yes it is. The food is amazing and well worth it. The servers though a bit aloof are excellent and do warm up. The atmosphere is definitely a see and be seen but everyone's in on the joke. Had a wonderful time despite not seeing any "famous" people!"

"Not You. We arrived a few mins early for our reservation for a romantic birthday dinner for 2. And after a short wait we were directed toward an enclosed back area which seemed to be reserved for families with noisy children. It was empty, so I wasn't sure if it was used for that or to keep Clooney and Obama out of sight when they visited (which they apparently do, not 2gether). We asked for a different table and had yummy cocktails at the bar while waiting. Sure enough, families with children were directed back there, so I didn't blow my chance to sit next 2 George and Michelle. Waiter was nice, helpful when asked (altho' his recommendation was $$$$). Fussed over the regulars, NOT us.. Also, 2 many 'rents w/texting, movie-watching kids"

"Our family of 5 dined at Cafe` Milano last Sunday. The food was a huge disappointment! We all are foodies. I was born in Italy and love to cook and also love good food. My 20 year old is in Culinary School, and we have traveled and lived in Europe, especially Italy. Since there were five of us we each ordered a different antipasto and a different entree. Not one of the dishes was good. Our kids are ages 20, 23 and 25 and both my husband and I are athletic and love to eat, but the food was so bad that the only dish out of a total of 10 dishes which we finished was the Prosciutto di Parma appetizer. That dish required no preparation other than plating! My boys and my husband left most of the their very expensive food in their plate."

"Although we wanted to sit outside as we noted on our reservation, we needed a heater that was filled with propane! It was chilly and other customers were complaining, too. We had very sparse service. I have been there twice before and the service has been great. This time, it was not! Although it was only 8:00 pm on a Friday, the fish of the day was gone. I substituted a delicious osso buco with risotto and it was great! We tried a new wine recommended by the sommelier and it was very good. All in all, even the food and wine would have been better if our comfort level had been good!"

"We took an out of town guest here for a late lunch. Our food was mediocre and service non-existent. That being said, it is still a great place to sit and relax and talk on a beautiful spring day. Go for the ambiance, not the food."

"Food was absolutely outstanding. Service varied. We asked to be seated outside but ended up in a windy shaded area so before ordering our meal we asked to move inside. The restaurant was not busy and it was early in the evening. It seemed to be a hassle to them to move us inside and many people got involved. When they did finally move us they put us next to the table that has extra supplies such as plates, napkins, bread, etc. It was a very high traffic area. Just seemed like they could have put a little more effort into a better table. One party at our table was even hit in the head by passing service staff who did not acknowledge it. Other staff were very accommodating and checked on us frequently."

"I had a fab meal. While planning my visit to Washington DC I looked up "Best Restaurants in Georgetown" I wasn't dissapointed. My daughter and I arrived and were seated at a nice table within a few minutes, our host and waiter were inpeccable. The food was perfectly cooked and the sauces were light and perfectly seasoned.
Dessert, a favourite course, was sublime, I couldnt ask for better.
I live in San Francisco, a great "Food Town" so i was impressed with the freshness, quality of ingrediants and the service we received.
Cafe Milano will be top of my list on my next visit to Wash. DC."

"Excellent food and a very pretty room. But the much-celebrated service was not in evidence. Although there was a lot of bowing and scraping, the waitress didn't know much about what wine would go with the food. The result was not bad, but I don't know that the pairings were as good as they could have been with a more knowledgeable recommendation. The beautiful tile floors make the tables unsteady, and that needs to be fixed. They handed out a single slice of bread at the beginning of the meal with much fanfare, but when I asked for a second slice towards the end of the meal they couldn't find one for 10 minutes. I'll go again because I've had good meals there before, but really . . ."
