Perched high atop a granite cliff overlooking Point Lobos State Reserve, migrating whales may be seen from every table in the dining room. USA Today selected us as "One of the Top 10 Restaurants in America With a View." Sunsets here are so spectacular that the entire dining room often breaks out in spontaneous applause. Pair a bottle of Domaine Bertagna Vougeot Clos de la Perriere with our Maple Glazed Smoked Duck Breast with Duck Confit and Strawberry-Rhubarb Chutney. "The food quality and service are very overpriced. I guess that you are paying for the view . I have had a better rib eye at less than half the price. Next time, I will just enjoy the same view by having a drink in the bar area."

"The view was spectacular. Unfortunately the service wasn't. Four of us dined at the pacific edge for mothers day buffet , and were very disappointed. We found it pricey considering the selection of food, which needed refreshing at times. Champagne was not included, which was odd considering the brunch was $80 dollars and a 20 percent gratuity automatically added to boot for mediocre service. The view is amazing and I would go for drinks but I feel the brunch needs fine tuning if they care to charge that amount for a limited brunch that does not include champagne."

"Food was very over priced but beautiful ocean view. Service was just ok. Was annoyed of the fact I couldn't be served bread until we ordered our course, even though we had already ordered a $200 wine bottle. There was nothing outstanding or worth returning for other than the view. I have an ocean view house so, I'm highly unlikely to return or recommend this restaurant."

"Arrived to the restaurant and loved the view. Waiter showed up quickly first and left the menus. after that it took forever for him to come back to take our order, when I finally caught up with him he acted surprised that we were ready to order only after fifteen minute wait. Once he took the drink order he was not paying much attention since details of the order were completely wrong, we figured let's just forget about his and enjoy the dinner. Menu itself was very limited but I thought that must mean that everything has to be really good. Salmon I ordered was overcooked eventhough waiter described it as medium rare and ravioli lacked taste as did "wild mushrooms" top it all valet scratched my vehicle"

"This restaurant is known for it's great view of the pacific ocean and the premium prices you pay for the experience. This was our third visit in the last 5 years and the first two were memorable for the great service and view, the food was typical of a good hotel restaurant, not bad not great.
This visit was not nearly as good as the others because of the cutbacks of the wait staff and the poor execution of the meals. After sending back a poorly cooked steak a second time, the waiter took the charge off the bill, and since my wife was now done with her meal and I had lost my appetite, we decided to call it a night.
I doubt any locals eat there and believe if it wasn't for the tourists eating at the restaurant, they wouldn't be busy at a"

"We will never go back. The prices were ridicules. We always like to order a bottle of wine with dinner, and refused to pay the prices. They did NOT have a bottle of wine under $55.00. There weren’t even any “California” wines on the menu. Hardly anyone in the restaurant ordered wine. Everyone who wanted wine ordered “a glass” and called it good. Obviously they would have sold tons of wine and lost out on sales. Really stupid. The prices of the meals were way too high. We had the least expensive menu – the scallops. We had 3 little scallops, a tad under cooked, and cost $42,00. The view was spectacular, but other restaurants have the views but don’t have that price range. The wait staff was rather curt, never came by to check on us, no salt"

"Caesar Salad was excellent. Free range chicken good, very large. Filet Mignon overcooked, not worth the money. Waiters disorganized, sommelier haughty and extremely annoyed when we chose not to have wine. Ordered a cocktail instead, asked if the bartender was familiar with it, sommelier said yes, and when it came, was nothing like it should have been. Wines very expensive. Food came too fast, then slow attention between entree and dessert and dessert and check. It seems to us that this restaurant is over-hyped, very expensive and not worth a second trip :-("

"We have been to Pacific's Edge in the past. This visit was really horrible. Despite a five-day prior reservation, we had no opportunity for a window table and received what I would call a poor location. After an initial appearance, we waited at least 30 minutes for the waiter to re-appear.
We found the Caesar salad dressing anything but a typical Caesar dressing. Our entrees--Filet Mignon and Short Ribs were at once strange--the filet was stringy!--and the short rib portion small and covered with a sweetish gravy.
Unless I have some other evidence, I would not return to Pacific's Edge--despite our staying always at Tickle-Pink--and would certainly not recommend the restaurant.
Poor management? Poor client reception.

"This restaurant has an outstanding view and excellent food. The prices are fair considering the food quality and the view. I had the tuna and my dining partner had the filet. Both dishes were excellent. However, the service left much to be desired. It seemed like we were seated at the invisible table. Servers would bring bread to other tables and would skip our table. Our food took forever to be delivered and our server seemed to avoid our table at all costs. My dining partner was given a butter knife to cut her stake and we had to flag down a server to bring her a stake knife. We also asked for an extra fork which required multiple requests. It's unfortunate that poor service ruined what should have been a wonderful dining experience."

"Very poor experience. Ordered cocktail and received the wrong drink-waiter brought the correct one and charged me for the one I hadn't ordered and had returned. Very long time before order was taken and asked to share a large entree and was told this wasn't allowed even though. I suggested paying for a separate plate..Finally had to ask the maitre d for service. Food was fair and very overpriced. Was in the restaurant for almostt 2 hours and table for 2 next to me changed twice that time.

"Pacific's Edge usually is a great restaurant with excellent food and great service. However, we were disappointed with the quality of service this time, especially since it was a slow night for the restaurant.
Several times we had to ask for water and pour our own wine when our glasses were empty, with staff standing around talking to each other. Definitely not the standard of service that you would expect from a high quality restaurant."

"I always loved this restaurant for its view and good food until our recent visit in feb 2013. So disappointed. 58 dollars for a NY Steak with no side. If I want to get a great steak there are so many better places for 1/3 cheaper. Forget the price , the meal was average. So when you combine average meal, high cost, so so service (they were busy) then you question the value proposition. All you have is the view. I would suggest go to the bar, eat your food and enjoy the view. Don't come here to be impressed . Also go to lunch at California market . This is the first time in all the years that I ripped a restaurant on Opentable."

"The scenic view and spectacular sunset met our expectation; however, it was the excellent service that impressed us most. Everyone was friendly, courteous and attentive. We definitely will recommend Paific's Edge to our friends. BTW, thank you for the complimentary desserts, the nice gesture was the icing to my already enjoyable birthday celebration!"

"Food was very good except that the abalone appetizer was a very small portion. I realize that abalone is expensive but $26 for literally three bites? Also, we brought two bottles of an '83 Chateau Margaux for our special occasion. There was not a word said about a corking charge, which we did expect, but $40/bottle?? $80 for the two bottles? Not appropiate!! It just goes to show you how much the restaurant must make when they sell their own bottles if they want to make that much for merely opening a bottle.
I would not recommend even though the food and service was good, unless you don't mind paying far over price and a surprise $80 corking fee."

"This restaurant has fantastic views, it is one of the most beautiful and stunning vistas I have ever experienced. The food was very good although very expensive. I have been lucky enough to have eaten at the VERY best restaurants around the world, this restaurant I would rate as very good at a very expensive price, worth it for the view and service."

"My wife and I greatly enjoyed our 15 year anniversary dinner at Pacific's Edge. The food was well-prepared and had excellent presentation. Of course, the view from the restaurant is stunning but alas, in the winter, the view doesn't last as long as summer.
Two issues kept me from enjoying the dinner more: the wait staff, while friendly and eager to assist, came to our table every five minutes to ask how we were. I'd have preferred service based on their observation rather than query. I ordered the prawns appetizer for $28. I asked the server if they were amazing and he said they were. I was served a single prawn that was tasty but not worth $28. Pretty audacious to serve a $28 prawn."

"The food was good, but everything was cold. The plates were hot, but not the food. It's usually the other way around. For the price of the food, it should have been better. The views of the ocean before dark was amazing. This is why we, and most, would dine at Pacific's Edge. Overall, a bit disappointing. With all the wonderful dinning establishments in Carmel, we will not return to Pacific's Edge. We had hoped for more for our 30TH wedding anniversary celebration. The bartender, the wait staff, and the cocktail waitress was terrific."

"Pricey, not for the frugal diner. Food is excellent. We were there the night of a big local golf tournament so there were several large and energetic parties, still my wife and I had a great time. This is one of our favorite special occasion restaurants."

"The restaurant has a beautiful view of the ocean if you get there before the sun goes down. The food was just ok and the service was not what we expected for this high classed, high priced restaurant. You are paying for the view. We had to ask for our water glasses to be filled two times and we also asked for more bread. The portions of food are small."

"I had the Roasted Beet Carpaccio, we laughed when it arrived, it was so small my wife said it looked like a garnish; I think I could taste beet, not sure. My wife's Caesar was good. We then waited about 45 minutes for our entrees, I think the waiter screwed up but of course he blamed the kitchen for getting backed up; the table next to us with a different waiter didn't seem to have any problem however. I had the Wild Mushroom Ravioli which was good but coincidentally I had the same dish recently elsewhere and it was superior. My wife had the Yellowfin Tuna, I could not taste fish at all, only the Coriander Crust. So for a long, $200 meal I was pretty disappointed."

"We absolutely love this place. We had our wedding here 3 years ago. Every time we come it feels magical. The staff is fantastic.
