"This little place is so charming, but it is so poorly lit on the inside that it takes away a bit from the charm of the place. The food was hit and miss. The mussles in a blue cheese broth was one of the best preparation of mussels I have ever had. But the pork confit was dry and unimpressive. Well worth the trip but I prefer a more consistent meal."

"From French Quarter, took an hour by streetcar and bus, but glorious garden district views and good people watching. Waitress was fun and knowledgeable; wine was good, charcuterie divine, seafood courtbouillon delicious. Husband liked the beef cheeks and oxtail (see menu for details)."

"The food at Dante's Kitchen was fantastic, we had the Seafood Courtbouillon, Grilled Beef Heart, and Roasted Beets. The roasted beets are great - my favorite part of the meal. Service was very good, especially considering how busy our waiter was (we appreciated that). The only qualm was the room we were seated in was at the back of the restaurant, near the kitchen, in a bright blue room with music that was not exactly fitting for the type of meal we were expecting. I would recommend requesting a to sit in the main part of the house or outside (the patio looks very cozy!). Overall a great experience."

"I think the meal was really excellent. We had eaten at Commander's the day before, and to be honest the food quality was completely on par!!! The prices were on par as well, so do consider that.
My cocktail was unique in flavor but also somewhat weak; however, the wine list was expansive enough to make up for this. The cornbread brought with the meal was an excellent touch. My only complaint is that our waiter was a bit pushy - trying to persuade us to order more appetizers and dessert. I appreciate the attentiveness but would advise him to tone it down.

"There are so many places to eat in MOLA but this is our favorite. Fresh local cuisine, well prepared without all the pomp and circumstance of a fancy restaurant. Friendly wait staff makes the meal that much better. Oh, and the handcrafted unique cocktails are good too!"

"Dante's is a favorite of mine for brunch and I figured dinner would be just as delicious. I was not disappointed. I ordered the lamb shank. I was a little taken a little aback when the waiter came by to drop to steak knives and I was not given one. I quickly realized why I was not given a steak knife. The meat literally fell off of the bone as soon as I touched it with my fork. My boyfriend ordered the whole fish and that was fantastic as well. The other diners in my party ordered the trois mignon (amazing) and the chicken under a brick. All of our dishes were fantastic! I knew how large their servings were so we skipped apps. We also had a round of the punch. The service and food was amazing! I highly recommend Dante's for brunch or dinner"

Entrée: Roasted Whole Fish. Redfish. Bread crumbs, fried sliced garlic, israeli couscous, olives, tomatoes. This fish is one of the single best dishes I have ever eaten. Clean, bright, simple, fresh.
Dessert: Brown Butter Creme Brulee. And the award for best creme brulee ever goes too... Yeah, it was that good.
Notable: house-made sambuca. well done.

"Escape the French Quarter and take a short drive to this out of the way, neighborhood gem. Inventive, interesting food with many choices. The punch of the day was great too! There's a genius mixologist in this little house turned restaurant. We sat on the front porch which was very relaxing and beautiful. There is a busier road near the restaurant but the traffic noise was not bothersome."

"We had dinner on a Sat night. I had to pull answers out of the waiter - I asked: if there were specials, descriptions of the menu items, what items would compliment best other items. He seemed like a local college student. Plus, the wait to order the food was long. It was a Sat night but we waited for 15 minutes to order another half hour for our food (at least). Plus, there is a middle aged creepy older looking man that kept glaring at our table."

"All the dishes we enjoyed blended creative ingredients that complemented each other beautifully. Started with the braised beef cheeks appetizer which had a nice robust flavor and wonderfully tender meat without being heavy. I had the Local Farm Vegetable Plate which even my beef eating date thought was delicious. There were so many fresh favors on my plate to taste it was hard to put down my fork. His Trois Mignons was quite good but the amount of the homemade Worcestershire sauce on the meat and bed of mashed potatoes was somewhat overwhelming. The pecan cake was an interesting choice but a little on the dry side. However the creme brûlée for dessert was all that it should be; smooth, not too sweet, and the perfect melted sugar crust."

"The flavors burst beautifully out of many dishes, especially the mussels, which were tender and moist with a wonderful bacon/blue cheese broth; the pork belly on an onion pancake which was spicy in a way that tempered the fat; and the rapini with mushrooms, and anchovie flavor. Wine list was reasonably priced. Policy against putting in any part of an order until the entire order is submitted meant that characuterie plate came out with rest of appetizers, not our preference, and less flavor bursting as well except for the fig jam. Beef heart in one plate, cheeks in another hit just the right taste. A few mishaps of initially misunderstood wine order, unfilled water glass, and delays were counterbalanced by a team effort and good humor."

"Dante's table is a perfect respite after a day of running around uptown. Tucked away on a little corner street, the restaurant invites you in like a secret garden. The rooms are ambiently lit and the tucked away rooms for seating make for an intimate setting. The menu is so innovative yet comforting! After devouring the delicious spoon bread, three of us feasted on seared scallops perfectly spiced with coriander and cumin and something slightly fruit, spicy shrimp and fluffly creamy perfectly cooked grits, a very fresh salad of mixed greens, strawberries and ricotta salada. Then we split the chicken roasted under a brick, which was, hands down the most delicious thing ever. Just be sure to order it right away as it takes 40 min to cook!"

"We were in New Orleans visiting Tulane and a woman in the admissions office recommended Dante's Kitchen.
It was a bit of a cab ride from our hotel, but well worth it . Eclectic food and pretty quaint ambiance.

"What a great find! Our reservation at another fancy schmancy NOLA restaurant fell through, and we were lucky to grab a last-minute spot here. It was one of our favorite meals the entire trip- the food was absolutely delicious (plates were cleaned!), the service was the friendliest we'd had our entire visit, and the garden dining felt like we had been swept away to another time. Highly recommended, and well worth the cab ride out there."

"Great find! We used yelp to identify what people are saying about area restaurants. Always a little dicey trusting mob intelligence, but in this case, the reviews were spot on. The highlight of the day for me was the numerous OH-infusions (OH, as in alcohol) they carry. Peanut Bourbon and Chai Rye were an absolute delight! Wife LOVED the chicken-under-a-brick; we are talking of investing in a brick now (already have the requisite cast iron skillet)."

"I have been to Dante's Kitchen numerous times for both brunch and dinner and have yet to be disappointed. The setting in a old house right on the river bend makes this place cool from the time you walk up, but the food is what will keep you coming back time and again. We had some of the best shrimp & grits I've ever had, braised oxtail, beef heart, lamb shanks, venison chili pot pie and seafood courtbouillon, all of which was amazing! Add some hand crafted drinks form the bar, and you have the makings of a great evening of dining! Trust me and your instincts and try Dante's Kitchen the next time you're in NOLA."

"Was visiting New Orleans for the first time from NYC. We asked our Concierge at the Ritz French Quarter for a really good restaurant outside of the typical tourist traps. Dante's Kitchen was it! Hands down my favorite meal during my visit. I had the rabbit and my husband had the shrimp and grits. The spoon bread was to die for, I'm still thinking about it. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting NOLA. (my only beef with this restaurant is this,they will call you a taxi to pick you up, however, the restaurant across the street is very aggressive in stealing the taxi's for their own patrons, it was very frustrating waiting for more than 30 minutes for a taxi, while the staff at Dante's weren't very helpful)"

"We had a great time! The steaks we ordered we not all that (after Crescent City its hard to find anything great), but they were still good (at least way better than what I can cook at home - and this is the point of eating out lol). We had the cheese platter as an appetizer - it was delish and so was the drink I had which happened to be new on the menu - I can't remember the name!
We will def be coming back to taste other entrees - Justin our server was great!"

"I got this reservation for my niece and her husband on their first anniversary. They were visiting New Orleans for the St Patrick's day weekend. They came back from their dinner full of praise for the outstanding service and the kindness of the wait staff. They're young, and were rather daunted at being in such a nice restaurant, but were charmed by how the waiter made them feel at ease. Delicious food and a great dining experience. They are now loyal fans of the restaurant!"

"The escargot appitizer and the complimentary cornbread were excellent. The rabbit pasta was more like a chicken soup and pretty unremarkable. The worst part was the bar service. It took so long to get a drink that the food came out before the wine - long before. Maybe I hit an off night or my expectations were too high but I was dissapointed when I left."
