"We booked virgil's for our first night in NYC and it proved to be the highlight of our full 5 day break. Food was outstanding, service was great and very knowledgeable of the menu which helped us to decide our choices I cannot fault virgil's one bit. So I would just recommend you try this place when you visit the big apple. Oh and we had the pleasure of the president of Canada dinning on the night we were there."

"I love this place. I've been here a few times and always have a great time. I took my mom here for a end of Mother's (Day) Week dinner. The food was great as usual and the drinks were strong. It's a bit on the pricey side so I don't go often but it's worth the price. I had a really great waitress, Beth. She was attentive and gave great recommendations. This is the place to go if you are looking for real BBQ in midtown."

"The food was outstanding and the service was great. Be prepared for large portions. We all had enough food left for an additional meal. I was with a group of 10 for a post matinee show dinner. There were many larger groups celebrating graduations. We were served promptly and were able to make an 8pm train with plenty of time to spare. My group had the salmon, Memphis ribs, grilled vegetable salad with chicken, grilled chicken breast dinner and the pulled pork sandwich. The meats were tender with great flavor. The smoke ring on the ribs shows that they really know what they are doing. The atmosphere is casual - the silverware comes wrapped in a towel for a napkin. The warm towels after dinner are a nice touch. Everyone was pleased."

"I made an online reservation to assure a table at this busy restaurant, and when we got there, it was not in the system. The staff was very nice and made sure we got a table. Otherwise that, Virgil's is a great place to relax!"

"All the food tasted exactly the same. I ordered the chicken and rib combo, had the ribs not been on the bone, wouldnt have known the difference. The sides were also so bland (mac and cheese and mashed ) had NO depth to the flavors. Im pretty easy to please and this is the second time I have tried Virgils, I think thats it"

"Friendly , informative service. Very good BBQ -style fare. Would have been nice to be able to get a grilled chicken sandwich as opposed to heavier caloric fare. We went because it was great for teens . Good cole slaw!"

"Been dining at Virgil's for 19 years since they opened in '94. My absolute favorite Bar-B-Que!! No trip to NYC is complete without at least one meal at Virgil's - lunch, dinner or Sunday brunch - always great food and great sevice. Convenient to Times Square area and theatre district. Also try sister-restaurant, Carmine's, for great Italian food, just a block away!"

"This was my second visit to Virgils. I was very disappointed the mac and cheese was dry it needed more cheese and the noodles were al dente not good for mac and cheese. The shrimp were over cooked so as a result they were tough they also added bbq sauce but it does not say that on the menu it says grilled shrimp. I sent my order back to have the shrimp cooked with out bbq sauce and to cook the mac and cheese. The shrimp came back without the bbq sauce but still tough. The mac and cheese was still dry.i got the feeling the waiter was not happy and did not seem interested in improving the food so i think this was my last visit to Virgils."

"I'm from Paris and I went at Virgil's two times when in vacation with my boyfriend in NY. An américain colleague of mine recommended this place and it was delicious...a very good place. The service was great ! Be carefull because the plates are very big, you can easily share it with another person, same thing for the starters."

"you don't have to have ribs or bbq to enjoy good food at virgils bbq i chose to have the broiled catfish it was so juicy so meaty so flavorful it was outstanding the portion was ginormous and it was just a nice change from the normal barbecue"

"I've gone so many times, it feels like home. I love the atmosphere, the music, the staff. It's my favorite food on the East coast. I especiallu love the Savannah Salad, Chickem Fried Steak, Hush Puppies, and Popcorn Shrimp (I love the sauce that comes with it.). My favorite side is the Memphis BBQ Beans. I love the cornbread. The napkins are little towels, which I like. At the end of your meal, you get a hot wash cloth to wash your face and hands. I really love it here."

"Ordered a cobination chicken and ribs platter. The chicken was good, great tasting BBQ sauce and dry rub, The ribs were garbage. Overcooked to the point that parts of the meat simply were Jerky. Memphis Ribs should be "fall off the bone" tender, not hard, rubbery and dry. The Mac 'n' Cheese, was cold and lacked taste. The Potato salad was very ordinary.
The waiter was not very attentive and seemed disinterested in his job. The one thing he did do nicely was bring a soft drink refill without me having to ask. Beyond that I never saw him from the time I got my food to the time he brought me a hot towel to clean up.
Having gone to other BBQ places in New York like Hill Country and Dinosaur BBQ, this experience and food were very sub-par."

"This used to be a place my friends and I would go for a good time and good BBQ. Not anymore. If you are in a rush, this place would be good for you. If you are not in a rush, they will rush your food anyway. This is the second time I have been there where my dinner came before the apps were half done. The wings are great, but it did not compensate for my dried out briscuit. They actually seemed to hide all if the dried out briscuit, under one good piece. I will not be back."

"I've been going to Virgil's for years and maybe my tastes or standards have changed, or this venerable restaurant has fully embraced its Times Square location and is purely focused on the one-time tourist trade. Food was just OK. The waiter tried the memory trick, not writing down the order, and for the most part got it right, but if you are not going to write it down, you better get it all right all the time. After dinner, I had to beg the bussers to wait for all the parties to finish before clearing the plates. Great for what we were: a large, mostly out-of-town party looking to feed hungry kids and visitors after a long day of sightseeing and not demanding of a great meal or experience. Next time, I'll spring for Blue Smoke and a cab."

"Great app but, I TRULY didn't like the fact that the restaurant had the option of DELETING my "request note" of a table by the window. When I arrived our hostess said there was no note written on our reservation & had no obligation to honor the request. Since it is an app that the client uses, the option of DELETING your personal request should NOT be available to the restaurant. The restaurant was perfect otherwise. I just think the app would make for a better experience, if the deleting option be removed from restaurant use. PLEASE if the makers of this app are reading this please fix that option. The diners should ENJOY their experience."

"We had a 5pm reservation through open table. Our event ended early and we got to Virgel's early. They were able to seat us right away. The wait staff was very pleasant except one waiter kept coming over and over asking if everything is alright. We love Virgel's and finally I told him we had been here before. As usual the ribs, mac and cheese, biscuits were awesome. Great cold beer from a pretty good selection of brews. Can't wait to come back!"

"Very friendly at the acceptance desk, and very good food. It's great for dining out before and/or after hanging out in Times Square. We were on the 1st floor and had a great view from the big window while dining. We started with some gorgeous onion rings and followed up with texas beef and chicken; portions are above standard in terms of both quantity and quality. Their BBQ sauces are a plus, atmosphere is friendly, and service is super fast and accurate. Recommended."

"Virgil's was great. I had to change my reservation time, done without hassle. Taken to our table quickly, menu explained with satisfaction. Food for everyone in the family, even picky children. They absolutely loved the mac & cheese. Service was good, very attentive. Very large grouped arrived while we were there, which I thought would be a problem with noise and it was not. Recommended for meat eaters! Try the chicken and ribs platter!"

"You don't need to go to the south or Midwest for tasty barbeque. Right in the heart of times square is this longtime favorite with a varied selection of yummy well aged meats great with the house sauce. Do a combo platter for the best experience of beefs Porks and poultry. Not a meat fan...their catfish is on par with the best Orleans restaurants. Beer lovers will be in brew heaven with dozens of brews to choose from. Good happy hour specials and scene.
One more thing...reservations are a MUST! Virgil's fills fast with tourists, theatre goers and BBQ fans frequenting theplace. You could wait a half hour or more without reservations."
