"The food was excellent. The service fell apart at end.;it had been very good till that point. At about mid-point the server was noticeably absent but not a big issue except my daughter had wanted a refill on her diet coke. The server came by twice and said he would get it right away. It never came. More importantly, my wife could not finish all her entree and asked to have it boxed. He took it away and never came back with it nor did he come with bill. The temperature was falling and my two guests were getting cold and finally had to leave to get inside to get warm. I waited and waited yet he never appeared and I finally asked a waitress to find him. He came but by then the charm had gone out of the place."

"We had a new waiter who was on his first day. He was given no help or supervision apparently. Knew very little about the menu or food ...particularly the specials and kept disappearing to "go ask". Also didn't knoe the beers they had.
He did try but I thought it was very poor management to leave him on his own and not have him underserve with an experienced waiter/waitress. Made the whole experience less then enjoyable.
We live in the area seasonally and have eaten here often. Will think twice about returning but probably will as the views are wonderful."

"Our waiter, Edgar, was very attentive and professional. The food was delicious as well as beautifully presented. Our window seat requested through Open Table was perfect and the view splended. Even though Mother's Day is a busy day and the restaurant was full, this was one of our best dining experiences on the Island and we have lived here 13 years!!! We will be back!"

"First of all, we love the Chart House. Have been at other locations and loved them all. Even Had our daughters wedding reception at the Weehawkin, NJ one. Been at Hilton Head many times and must say that this time we were very disappointed . You could just tell that something was amiss. The waitress was disoriented at best. Several requests went unheeded. Ran around like a chicken without a head Food came VERY slow, Meal was good but looked thrown together and everyone's was swimming in sauce and the toppings to the fish were slopped on . To top it off the singer was terrible. Couldn't hold a tune.
With all that said I consider this a fluke and really look forward to coming again and will assume whatever was wrong will be fixed"

"the setting is beautiful with a view of the harbor at sunset. our table afforded us a unique scene and ambience. however, everything else was disastrous. the waiter was lacking in all service aptitudes. my husband asked for a substitution of baked potato instead of mashed (the same $) we were told he could not accomodate us. we asked for a manager and he told us it could absolutely be done. i had to ask several times for olive oil instead of butter for our basket of bread. the waiter dropped our plates on the table and never returned to inquire of our satisfaction. we had to ask another waiter to send ours over so we could order dinner drinks. when the bill came, we had been charged for three dinners and had to wait for the correction."

"We were warmly greeted upon entering the Chart House and the the whole staff was polite and helpful all evening. The dinners and desserts were outstanding-not a piece of food left on any dish! The menu stated the souffle was for 3 or 4-not-just for 1 or 2 people. Sure it is pricy but the food is excellent and you are viewing the water at sunset, what more can you ask for!"

"I got the Catch of the Day (rainbow trout) and I thought you ordered a fish, then some sides. The waitress didn’t know, so I got the rainbow trout with asparagus and fries. I started with a half dozen raw oysters which were obviously frozen since they were almost tasteless. It turned out my meal came with rice and Asian green beans after all, so I had that along with the sides. I tried the asparagus and it was inedible, it was so tough and stringy. I also tried the rice (sticky) and the Asian green beans (also clearly frozen and tasteless). The fries were delicious as was the trout but that certainly didn’t make a meal. We paid $111 with a $22 and I thought the food worth about a third of that."

"Our last visit to the Chart House was Thanksgiving 2012. And once again, our expectations were exceeded.We were treated like customers: everyone at the restaurant was happy that we were there (not a given in today's, "where is the customer service" world). The tuna was super tender and tasty. Claudia was friendly and helpful as our server. My wife had lobster. Well-prepared and tasty.Try the hot lava cake ! Too much for one person though."

"We go to the Chart House several times a year. The food is always excellent and the view is lovely. Service is usually leisurely, which we have come to expect. This time, we had a very inexperienced waitress who was doing her best but had neither the supervision nor the training to do the job that a restaurant that charges what CH does should deliver. It is not unusual that at the beginning of the season staff will need training.

"I decided to take my family to the Chart House for Easter Sunday brunch. The experience started out fine with appetizers served Ina reasonable amount of time. We theme aired over one hour for our main courses to be served. They were not hot and by that time we were just ready to get out of the CH. I have lived on HH for 14 years full time and have always enjoyed Charlie's crab and then the CH when it first opened. This experience was very bad and it will be a long time before I return."

"We truly enjoyed our dining experience at The Chart House. We arrived early and sat at the bar where the service was great. We were able to be seated 30 mins prior to our reservation, which was wonderful. The food was excellent, the menu superb, the service friendly and prompt and the atmosphere wonderful. Could see the water view even from our table at the back of the restaurant. This was a wonderful all round experience."

"While my group of 8 enjoyed our brunch, I was the only one they forgot about serving. Finally my husband asked for my meal. It did come out on a small plate with part of it falling off and the fruit was missing. I had to then ask for the fruit. I was not a happy camper."

"Went with two other couples. Had a nice round table with a view. Everyone ordered a fish dinner, local tile fish and wahoo and Atlantic salmon. All said their meal was great. I ordered the yellowfin ahi, but I thought it was so-so. Don't think it was sushi grade and it is supposed to be. It was also supposed to be spicy with a wasabi cream sauce, but it was bland. A little upset with that. Had the mudpie for dessert, was fantastic. All in all, it was great for everyone but me. I will go back, but not for the ahi."

"Beautiful sunset views. They took the best of Charlie s crab and made it better. Amazing service and delicious food. The only shortfall was the soufflé. Over beaten egg whites tasted like a marshmallow and no gran marnier. Bread, salads, fish and steak were all outstanding"

"We love the Chart House Restaurant on Hilton Head Island. The Sunday Brunch and lunch is fantastic. So many choices and very reasonable prices for the quality and presentation of the food. We are allowed to bring our dog and sit on the patio overlooking the water. The drink specials are great and we cant think of a better place to spend a couple of hours eating, drinking and relaxing on a nice day. Perfect ambiance, thanks Chart House!"

"the waiter needs instruction on how to wait on customers.Dificult to understand,spoke very fast, poor explanation of what was on the menu.No response after he spilled coffee all over my pants. Food was only OK, not like previous dining experiences. I have a future reservation for a special occasion which I am thinking of canceling."
